It would be nice to use this approach also on the LHD which is scary naked when it comes to air defense
We should take a page out of Italian carrier Cavour:
Just check out the “basket” type containers of Aster anti air missile VLS cells. These are in addition to the 2x76/62mm Super rapid guns and 3x25/80mm Oto Melara guns.
There is one by the stern on port side and another one at the starboard side. They are like added afterwards.
We should seriously think about fitting MIDAS and Hisar/Siper missiles to TCG Anadolu.

@TurDef

As expected, even harbor acceptance tests of Anadolu LHD is not completed as of April 2022. They are trying to convince Turkish Navy to carry out certain acceptance and works during the sea-trials to accelerate the schedule but so far some of those works had better be completed on the harbor due to the safety reasons and TN refuses.

The fire incident or the pandemics had a little impact on the schedule as well (1 to 3 months at most). There were other incidents that he is not mentioning here related to shipyard and certain issues related with the planning (again related to the shipyard) when the project was commenced.

I noted this a year, or several years ago as well. Anadolu will be in service by 2023, Q1.
Q1 2023 is highly optimistic at this point. But Q4 2022 was impossible since the beginning.

Partial acceptance in 2022 December, i give at least 6 months for Navy to play around with the big toy and crack it open. Unless things are forced for the elections.

I expect that we will see the CH-47 tests in next weeks. Probably operational tests will be conducted for all types of rotary wings in the armed forces inventory. BUT, CH-47Fs will be of particular importance for amphibious task forces as they are only heavy class helicopters in the inventory. If I remember correctly, there is a folding pal option for CH-47Fs. But I don't know if it is available on TAF helicopters. At the moment, there seems to be little possibility of new heavy class heli purchases. There is a desire, but it is debatable whether the technical and political conditions are favorable.

We need more, this is merely a sea trial of a landing- take off. I want to see a fully fledged amphibious operation with simultaneous landing - take off - rearming - refueling on the deck.
By the look of it EFES exercises will take a new form in near future :cool::cool::cool:

SSB President Demir: "Demir: "LHD Anadolu will be put into service in 2023 and we will put our TB-3 S/UAV on Anadolu."
"TCG Trakya has not been ordered yet, it stands as a concept. But if the order is given, we can say that it will be better, not the same as Anadolu."
"You have to have a battery in your submarine, a lithium ion battery. We also founded ASPİLSAN and we will develop it and move it forward."

@Anmdt what would be the standard formation of the Anadolu strike group ?
Temporarily (following commission in 2023), whatever is available;

1/2 Gabya (Ex OHP) Frigates as AAW
1/2 Ada Class
1 Gür/Preveze Class
1 x Replenishment ship (TCG Akar or the sistership)

Ultimately in a typical formation - it may widen depending on mission, accompanied by additional logistic support ships, LSTs etc.;
1 x TF2000
2 x İ-Class
1 x Reis Class / 1 x MILDEN when available.
1 x DIMDEG
It is prone to change (will likely change) but one piece of TF2000 and DIMDEG, and MILDEN is fixed there.

~ Open bets for Anadolu's first foreign harbor visit.
For a show of pure friendly support, my heart goes with Ukraine hence Odessa, Ukraine (provided that war would have ended by the time TCG Anadolu enters the service) which would also serve as a demonstration of the strongest navy in Black Sea.

For a show of muscle, my mind suggests that it has to be Tripoli, Libya, introducing the new major power who happens to be protector of a certain place in Med

Note for mod team: if you find it too early for the “bet” or even maybe not in line with the thread, please feel free to delete it.
