Why is the Anadolu not using the Cenk-S AESA radar with 4000 GaN modules that have 2x longer ranges than Thales Smart-S Mk2?
I think they already brought phalanx and Smart S Mk2 for Anadolu before the embargo, so they decided to just stick with them instead of gokdeniz and Cenk S.
For the moment, I believe so.
Yet, they are churning out so many state of the art tech locally so fast that, it’s not a brainer to rightfully assume that those will be replaced with domestic units in good time.
Naval experts here might update and enlighten us about any timetable.

The reason why we have Cenk radar is because of the ambargo, when Anadolu was realise Smart was chosen thats because. I think next LHD ship will get Cenk.

TCG Anadolu is supposed to be delivered in 2022, and CENK-S is planned for the I class after it became evident that the I class will be delayed a lot. CENK-S will be ready late Q1 or early Q2 this year so you can see there is a time gap between the two platforms. The good thing is switching CENK-S form the Smart-S Mk2 is an easy process so later we can install CENK-S to TCG Anadolu and Smart-S Mk2 to one of the Hisar Class OPVs. Hisar Class is designed to host Smart-S Mk2 class radar.

Lol, Ismail Demir kept telling Anadolu will be transferred to Navy to continue extended trials by end of 2022 and i have been telling this is not possible even since 2021. Yet alone the 'commissioning' or delivery, what Mr. Demir was referring that Navy taking over.
You know what, fair enough.
I’ll ask the boys at the “Company“ (wink wink) then
Any information from friends?
One more hint as the date closes in; the winner starts and ends with the same letter of the alphabet.

Still surprised the twitter guys havent found out it... even subcontractors in the shipbuilding industry have heard.

Hürkuş Basic Training aircraft is planned to be deployed in TCG Anadolu.
That's not what Sünnetçi's interview with naval aviation chief suggests.

İsmail Demir "The ship has been delivered, personnel training continues. The ship is ready for service."

İsmail Demir UAV capacity of TCG ANADOLU

"S/UAV capacity depends on the configuration you will make. The ship can carry 30 UAVs in its current configuration. It will be able to carry up to 70 or even 100 UAVs when different designs are studied. If there is a pool in it, the number decreases, if not, it increases."

Within 4 days of the signing of the contract for 3 new I-Class frigates, first steel cutting ceremony will be held for TCG-Izmir.
Hopefully other ships’ steel cutting will follow consecutively as the plan is to deliver all 3 ships within a time frame of 36 months.

So first steel cutting will be made during tch Anadolu hand over ceremony!!

Can someone explain to me what the purpose of the LHD was in the beginning? F35B's werent a given guaranteed back then so initially a heli deck? But where are the helis? We dont have enough s-70 neither are the supercobras sufficient in numbers or capabilities. We also dont have drones for it. How is it going to be used as a lead ship? tf2000 arent here either.. the priorities of the ships being built doesnt make sense to me

It's mostly a sociopolitical thing imo. Big ship = we have something to boast about hahaha, we call it aircraft carrier and masturbate at night thinking about it how big of a ship we got and hope we could even gain some votes before elections thats always a plus side :D It does not really make sense otherwise. We have like 7777 things to care before this, but navy and the goverment had huge and unrealistic dreams i dont really blame them, its not in our cultural to act rational and planned, we are mostly fanciful so now we got a big dick LHD and 2 huge ass LSTs. Our m48s cant wait to give it a go hahahah. Imagine you see this huge ass ship and then m48s popping out ahahahaha 10/10 would make day.

Jokes aside, I dont think when this ship planned to be build they thought our economy is gonna completely crash, we are gonna be ambargoed from all western countries on military sales and stuff, so there is that too. The plus side is at least we builded the ship succesfully in a fairly good time, dont forget it could always be worse. I think it is gonna be useful regardless even for civilian-peace time duties, if we had the ship during earthquake it could really help and also boost the morale sadly she was 2 months late.

I thought it was to get know-how in order to build an actual aircraft carrier sometime in the 30s?

LHD project started its life as a LPD project, similar to San Antonio and Type 071. It was still called the "LPD Project" for years after Navantia's Athlas 26000 design was selected. In intervening years design got bigger and bigger and talk of F-35Bs being bought to be employed aboard the ship was started to make it an "aircraft carrier". This doesn't mean they always thought about going with F-35s and the design requires changes on its flight deck to accommodate launching and retrieving F-35Bs in the form of increased resistance to exhaust gasses F-35B would release.
