Yes it does but the tittle suggest that Algeria has big internal problems,i dont see the connection,do you?
When i see that tittle i think something big happened in Algeria which is no the case.

I have never made a claim that Algeria has a big internal problem. I have just documented sabotage operations, and gun exchanges that have been taking place a month ago. How small, or big it is depends on the way we look at it, and if the development will be intensified. This thread was created to discuss, not to have necessarily an opinion or claim. If I made a claim then it would be very biased which will hurt my credibility as Mod.

All the confusion started after the “Liar…” tantrum.

throwing in Libya stuff just derailed the thread.

Now someone share a map showing where the sabotage happened.

Everyone can throw a little "sentence", but the situation is interesting for those interested in MENA affairs. This topic has been discussed in other "arab" forums as well. The situation in Libya is indeed not part of the internal situation, but I find it very interesting that an internal crisis took place+ Azawad's success against Mali/Wagner, and the mobilization of the 128 Brigade loyal to Haftar towards the central-soutwestern borders with Algeria within a time span of 2 weeks.

Thanks to @Latebra Factum for the picture.

An explosion and a power outage took place in the industrial zone of #Arzew #Batioua. This is a production facility for natural gas.

Algerian opposition figure Amir Dizad:

What is happening in Oran is a conflict between a military faction that supports General Chengriha and another faction that supports President Tebboune. The figure mentions that a clash would take place a week before which makes his remarks even more interesting.

All these incidents took place within a few days, and after the 30 July, a media blackout took place.

Adding to the mix , Haftar's LNA forces have reached Ghadames city which is very close to the Algerian territories , some outlets claim it's because of the natural resources existing in that area but nothing's confirmed

It was claimed that Tuareg forces in Libya were on their way to Mali to support Azawad forces against the junta rule, and Wagner. The question arises! How will they be able to enter northern Mali?

The Prime Minister of Niger sent a strong message to the Algerian government, stressing that the security of Mali is intrinsically linked to that of Niger. What do the Niger mean when claiming that they sent a "strong" message to Algeria and that the security of Mali, is a priority for Niger? Something is not adding up here.

Interesting. well the governments of some of these countries have been taken over by military junta, and they've decided to stand together against external threats. Why they take an aim at Algeria I don't know, because as far as I understand Algeria isn't on super friendly terms with the western countries, but more a cooled down relation.

I'd say Morocco has far better and friendlier relation with most of the western countries.

Considering Algeria and Russia has had amicable relations, how they should cool down, I still don't understand because I don't see how/what should have happened for that to occur, unless it's the insecurities going on in Algerias neighborhood where Russia is involved.

Maybe it is media perception or someone trying to start something.

But I think many of us who aren't from the region/countries would appreciate sharing of local news and some sort of progress report.

It's especially interesting considering the military take over in the Sahel area bordering and close to Libya, Algeria and Morocco.

It is energy projects with Europe that are affecting Russian-Algerian relationships , Algeria has benefited greatly from the Russian-Ukrainian war to impose itself now and in the future as a major supplier of gas, electricity and green hydrogen to European countries.

Algerian-Western relations are not cold. There are Divergences/Disagreements on some political issues, especially Palestine and Western Sahara...but economic and trade cooperation is much stronger with Western countries than with the Russians...and the energy projects between Europe and Algeria, which Russia sees as a threat to its energy policy towards Europe, are the basis of the current political coldness between the two countries...Russian intervention in the Sahel is primarily aimed at preventing the completion of the Trans-Sahara pipeline project - NIGAL- which would allow Algeria to decisively control the energy market in Europe.

The only country that is in a real economic and social crisis is Morocco, not Algeria. and it would have been better for the Moroccan members to pay attention to their country instead of spreading false information and lies about Algeria.

I have to agree that relations between Algeria, and Europe in particular are pretty good. Especially the gas agreements between Algeria, and Italy. However, Algeria seems to be discontent with Spain and France regarding its recognition of the Moroccan Sahara. There is not much Algeria can do at this point, it must balance its card right, especially after the war in Ukraine. A wartorn Algeria is not in the interest of Morocco, nor would it help the region advance any further.

Why would Russia consider the Algerian gas pipeline a threat to its energy policy towards Europe? The US and Norway have filled most of the gap for gas for now. Political coldness between states can take place, but you also mentioned that the presence of Wagner in Sahel is to prevent the NIGAl gas pipeline. Do you not think that the tension in the Sahel is a huge game where all the big powers in the world are involved?

Pointing the finger back does not add anything beneficial to the thread. If there are any misconceptions, or faults made in the thread then point them out. We are here to discuss. Algerian sources were used as well including the Algerian Ministry of Defense.

Early this year some reports were claiming that Algeria is discontent with Wagner around its border, but that the issue was mainly discussed between Algeria, and Russia. Now we see that Wagner has strengthened its presence and is basically surrounding Algeria from Mali, and Niger in the south, as well as Libya in the east. Russia is a rational nation that only goes by its interests, and Algeria should not get fooled by them. It's still a very cloudy environment, but we can see from official sources that there is some discontent between Algeria and the Sahel states. Will the tension affect the Algerian-Russian ties? Time will show.

Algeria will not harm its relations with Western countries for the sake of the Sahara and Morocco ,Even with the so-called American recognition, American-Algerian relations remained good and even strengthened economically and commercially with the entry of American companies into the Algerian market for the first time in the history of the two countries Specifically in the fields of energy and agriculture..Even at the political level, relations remained good with continued cooperation between the two countries and the exchange of political and military visits and delegations...

As for Spain, the situation is different. Algeria considers Spain a key party to the conflict, and as the former colonial power in Western Sahara, Spain has the responsibility to resolve the colonial issue in Western Sahara in accordance with United Nations regulations, and Spain's recognition of the Moroccan status of Western Sahara constitutes a breach of its international responsibility.

However, economic relations with Spain were not harmed and returned to their former state short after...
Gas supplies to Spain have not decreased, but have increased due to the Ukrainian crisis..and there is currently talk of extending an underwater power line to Spain to supply that country with Algerian electricity, like Italy....See the Algerian economy topic..

As for the political tensions with France, they go far beyond the Western Sahara crisis...that was just the the straw that broke the camel's back....France's hosting of the MAK separatist terrorist organizations hostile to the Algerian state and its support for members of the former regime, and its involvement in economic corruption cases with elements of the former regime ,This is what led to the deterioration of economic and political relations between Algeria and France, even before French recognition.

Basically the French recognition of the Moroccan Sahara came only after Paris confirmed, that it had lost almost all of its
economic/political interests in Algeria For the benefit of Chinese and its Western partners Like Italians, Turks, Americans and Germans.

Neither Norway, nor America, nor Algeria are capable of meeting Europe's energy needs alone....But as for Algeria ...Algeria will not only supply Europe with gas, Algeria will supply Europe with its needs of gas, electricity, green hydrogen and grains...and These are the strategic investments that European countries will make in Algeria and the Sahel countries ,and that's what bothers the Russians, because they will lose their main assets to put pressure on Europe In the field of energy and food...
And The US strongly supports this trend , Because this will allows them, on the one hand, to contain Algeria - Moscow's most important partner in the region- and on the other hand, they are ensuring that Russian domination of the European energy market will be broken forever.

I see, but how does this play out for Algeria? Do you think the Russians have the need, and aspiration to circle Algeria? Its main ally, and biggest arm importer in Africa? Interesting development! The Sahel countries are increasing their cooperation with the Wagner, and we know that Haftar is supported by mainly Russia, UAE etc..

Any guess on why the Wagner would be placed so close to the borders with Algeria, if the allegations are true. If anyone have an overall map showing the placements/bases of Wagner in these countries feel free to share :) please.

Also I agree that it's strange that Haftar sends the armed forces to border area with Algeria, and if it could be enlightened as to why it would be great.

Haftar is supported by Wagner, as well as Russia+UAE+ Egypt. The reason for the deployment is unknown, and this is not the first time that Haftar has made such a proactive step against Algeria. An interview from 2021 features President Abdelmajid Tedboune where he says "Who are Haftar to threaten us". If I'm not mistaken the Ghadames region is rich in oil reserves.

The huge successful assault that Azawad was able to conduct was very close to the Algerian border. We have all seen the video of the amount of soldiers and vehicles. Here is the location!
