Most of our land borders connect us to countries whose armies don't even possess a quarter of the Algerian army capabilities – Tunisia, Libya, Mauritania, and the Sahel countries the only threats we might face from these countries are asymmetric threats, such us terrorist organizations, mass migrations, and transnational criminal organizations involved in drug and arms trafficking and human smuggling and These threats, by their very nature, require a different kind of approach and doctrine ...

However, the only enemy in the region that possesses conventional military capabilities capable of causing some trouble for Algeria is Morocco...and In the event of any armed conflict with Morocco the Algerian navy will be a key player in this conflict...whether in neutralizing the Moroccan navy or in supporting Algerian land forces by carrying out strikes against the Moroccan coastal infrastructure or conducting amphibious landing operations...This can be easily deduced from the nature of the combat exercise that the Algerian army conducts annually.

The Algerian Navy's Special Forces (RASM) are preparing to receive five BK-16E high-speed assault combat boats, as part of a previously announced international tender. These are special operations crafts manufactured by the Russian giant Kalashnikov, designed for special operations in coastal areas, transporting military personnel, assault landings on unimproved beaches, fire support for landing forces, counter-piracy and counter-terrorism operations, medical evacuation, and providing assistance to those in need. The boat is equipped with a transport trailer for land and air transport, a remotely controlled MBDU/PPDU weapon station, advanced communication and navigation systems, and thermal day and night vision systems. This deal comes to support the landing and rapid deployment capabilities of the Algerian Navy's special forces, which has previously acquired BK-10M Multipurpose high-speed boats, Chinese UPV-3D Diver Propulsion Vehicle/ underwater propulsion systems, and Italian Suex Artemis elite diver propulsion vehicle.
