In August 2021, the seventh International Military-Technical Forum "ARMY" will be held, organized by the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.

It is one of the world's largest exhibitions of weapons, military and special equipment, presents an extensive program of exhibition, demonstration and scientific and business events.

Traditionally, unique conditions are created at its sites for constructive communication, exchange of experience, establishment of industrial cooperation ties and fruitful interaction of domestic and foreign specialists in the military-technical sphere.

Within the framework of this Forum, the achievements of the leading Russian defence enterprises will be presented, national expositions of foreign countries will be deployed. The exhibition area of the aviation cluster at the Kubinka airfield will be expanded.

As always, an extensive program is expected to demonstrate the capabilities of modern Russian weapons and military equipment, as well as military and dual-use products of domestic and foreign enterprises. A bright event will be the competition for the management of unmanned aerial vehicles and robotic systems "Dronbiathlon".

During the Forum, the most pressing issues of the development of the Armed Forces, the Russian defence industry complex and international military-technical cooperation will be discussed.

Together with the Government of the Russian Federation, it is planned to hold a plenary session and a congress on the diversification of the Russian defence industry.

It is noteworthy that at the same time another significant event will take place - the International Army Games.

This format has already shown its effectiveness last year - the level of representation of foreign states has increased, the opportunities for official negotiations and meetings have expanded.

I wish the participants of the ARMY-2021 Forum productive work and interesting ideas that will inspire new achievements, and many bright and unforgettable emotions for the guests.

VPK-7829 K-17 Boomerang Infantry Combat Vehicle performing at ARMY-2021

One of the infantry fighting vehicles (IFV) displayed at the ARMY-2021 Technical and Military Forum in Patriot Park, Kubinka, Russia on August 22-28, 2021 is the VPK-7829 K-17 Boomerang

Ranpur driven by 8X8 tires made by Military Industrial Company LLC (VPK) has become one that attracts attention because it is a new, reliable combat vehicle.

The Boomerang project began in late 2011. The prototype of this ranpur was handed over to the Russian Armed Forces in 2013 and was first seen publicly at the Victory Day Parade in Moscow in 2015.

The boomerang was built as a replacement for the BTR-80 and BTR-82A which was not replaced by the BTR-90 because it was too expensive and the upgrade was not significant.

Not without obstacles, the development of the Boomerang also seems to face various obstacles. Preliminary trials of this amphibious farm with a modular design were only carried out in 2019 and continue to experience improvements.

If the goal, this project will get an order of at least 2,000 units to replace the BTR-80 and BTR-82/A.

The boomerang with a combat weight of 28.6 tons is manned by three people and capable of carrying eight personnel.

In terms of armament, the ranpur is equipped with an electrically powered unmanned turret mounted in the center of the hull.

The turret is armed with a 30 mm 2A42 automatic cannon. A 7.62mm coaxial PKT machine gun is also mounted on the left side of the main armament.

In addition, there are also two Kornet-D anti- tank missile launchers mounted on each side of the turret.

The boomerang can strike all moving or static targets during the day and night up to a maximum firing range of 2 km against ground targets.

Kornet-D is an advanced ATGM ( Anti-Tank Guided Missile ) weapon that can fire munitions for Kornet-EM .

This variant uses a technical sight with automatic target tracking to make it a fire and forget missile .

This fire-and-forget capability makes the K-17 a fighter that can launch salvo fire against two different targets at once.
