So, if this is Panther mounted on truck, it’s a new system and called ARPAN.
Then what happened to Yavuz?

What happened to Aselsan's project?

We have 40 panthers(actually there are lots of speculations to this number as well) and we have 3 different project to put them on trucks.

If this works, will we produce more?

Probably, IMO Yavuz was just a testing vehicle and used for development, because that truck was too small (but bmc didn't have 8x8 at that time), after all they decided to have bigger truck (as truck might be ready now, with national engine etc) which would carry more ammo as well. Thus IMO Arpan is the final product similar to Ceasar. And this is Panther modernization or repurposing not a new artillery system while Aselsan was trying to create fresh new system with autoloader etc. Which is certainly more expensive and time consuming than using Panther atm. I hope to see it before or at the IDEF, congratz to engineers.. and congratz decision makers for waiting BMC truck.

There was another Yavuz SPH project of MKE in the late 90s which based on PZH2000 design but it was cancelled. Now again they used same name also new names revealed with new designes very interesting.

6 new Firtina 2 howitzers have been officially delivered to the Army. These howitzers are the second generation of the Firtina with auto loaders and better fire control systems, new fire suppression and climate control systems. It has remote controlled machine guns, better survivability packages, better pallet drive system, new generation auxiliary power units.
Although the main power unit is of foreign origin on these, the indigenous power pack will be adapted in to the Firtina in the next couple of years.

Arpan is MKE Panter with modernized electronics mounted on an 8x8 armored truck. The final config might also have an RCWS system. 40 Panter howitzers will be turned into this configuration more orders might follow. The first batch will be delivered in August 2023. I think the Turkish Armed Forces need a huge amount of truck-mounted 155mm howitzers. Army should order something like 250 units if possible. We should ultimately aim for a thousand modern 155mm artillery.

Is there any guess on per unit cost?

We need details. Auto Loader?
How long to reload? How long to set up and scoot? Accuracy?

MKE Yavuz 6x6 and BMC Arpan 8x8

> Seems like the same panther howitzer on a 8x8
> MKE Yavuz seemed pretty thought out as well.

Israel Elbit Systems Atmos 2000 8x8 for reference

> Turkish Land Forces sure loves Israeli Designs :)
> Weight should be around 30 Tons.

155 Panter = MKE Yavuz = MKE Arpan, all are just the same product, Arpan is final product of modernized Panters. Just with the required truck size and as mentioned modernized targetting electronics. As far as I know Panters already have loading assist, or we can say autoloader or semi-autoloader, just like Fırtına, ammo is not pushed by a soldier manually but by a loader, but soldiers need to feed the autoloader of course, still not fully auto.. I hope further iteration would be fully automatic like Archer Artillery, or they develop a truck mounted Fırtına, or my preference Pars mounted Fırtına. (Hopefully Aselsan's project soon become a reality as well)
