In Iraq and Afghanistan 35 Kiowas were destroyed due to combat or accident with 35 fatalities, the idea of reconnicance helicopters is outdated and using them as light attack helicopter is pretty reckless.

Good to transport few SF's to certain locations and give them some sort of CAS but when the opponent has MANPADS and SPAAG then it will end badly.
Light helicopters are good for police If you ask me they don't need ATAK PHASE II

Military helicopters in general are much more likely to crash due to intense roles, flying. Most of the time debris, terrain, difficult weather. human error.

ATAK, Blackhawk flies in Manpad, Dochka threat areas. Aside from intel from both air and ground. Most important evasion is flying low and fast which lowers the enemies reaction time. Manpad battery has to charge thus would require team to coordinate the attack. There needs to be scout(s) to give info if helicopter is approaching. Soft-kill systems, EW systems like RF jammers on board can prevent radio etc. cut communication between the terrorists when passing.

Idea of recon helicopters is not outdated. ATAK is multi-role helicopter which also intended for recon roles. Is it outdated? Why bother putting Mildar on ATAK 2. Selling point of an helicopter like Kiowa is mast mounted sensor on available utility helicopter. Concept is to use terrain and do recon without exposing itself. Effectiveness depends on whom you're using against. Greece counted on us not having persistent intel capabilities that we have today. That we would only have few drones and forced to F16 for recon.

That is where unmanned helo comes in. For deep penetrating intelligence missions without endangering pilots and valuable assets like t-129s, you can gather intelligence. You can’t beat unmanned air assets in this type of missions.
Depending on mission it could be Alpin sized or t-629 sized. Electric versions would be extra quiet.

Police Aviation S-70A and its escort T-129B

Now do you understand why they wanted an ATAK helicopter?
I understand what you are pointing at. But what’s police doing outside of cities, aren’t Gendarmerie suppose to deal with issues outside cities ?

Also a heavy machine gun emplacement would suffice, though the sensors and such are what really make T129 awesome.

I should add if Celik Güc existed I could understand

Police and Gendarmerie are both under MoI and events don't happen in just rural areas alone or urban areas alone but crossing borders of domains. I find it unreasonable to object the Police having firepower, it sounds putschist.

It does not sound putschist such hidden accusation clearly shows your lack of understanding because you as a person are satisfied with current government as you do not question anything they do, nor their refugee policy.

Cross border of domains you say, that's area of expertise of Gendarmerie. You may ask anyone here and they'll give you the same answer.

I eveluate every move and have my opinion based on my experience of the world as it is in current situation and several phases down the road. The world in a few years may be totally different from what we have seen so far. It is in Turkey's interest to be prepared for all possibilities rather than waiting for the Sheet to Hit The Fan.

Funny, I just spoke to someone about something similar.

It's off topic, but I said we should not have to radicalize our POV whether extreme left or right to have a basis for consensus. We should have a standpoint cemented i fair, just and equality with the mindset of protecting our citizens even against government officials.

I know very well the world has moved to right wing and even farther right in Europe, it all escalated after 9/11 nationalism on the rise, targetting immigrants and such. And it'll continue unless fair and just system is established in the countries where the problems arise.

I don't see that in Turkey. What I see is a hollowed out system and a government trying to protect itself by arming all arms capable segments of Turkey.

Like I said earlier if Police is conducting operations like "Celik Kuvvet" then I can understand giving them Helicopters like T129, but since Gendarmerie was moved to MoI, I don't understand why the Police should have T129. Armed version of S70 would be enough.

Yeah lets give police F-16s too Yeah Im putschist because I don't want police to have heavy firepower in cities like izmir and istanbul what are they going to do with them?

It's not for use in cities, common stop all this drama.

We need to finish off PKK in all parts in and outside Turkey and as soon as possible as we can't afford a second hendek issue in Turkey.

You guys are probably in the mood that Turkey is terror free like Belgium

And please don't bring up a false notion like "democracy" as we are probably the most democratic country in the world having the political wing of a terror group in our parliament. (they should try that in the US)

3 Gökbeys will be delivered to the Gendarmerie General Command

We have an ATAK helicopter. Everywhere we speak of him with pride. May God bless our country, this ATAK helicopter is definitely a very functional device in the Land Forces, Gendarmerie, Internal Affairs and Security. This is one, we produce it under license. GÖKBEY, which is completely local and national; We are delivering 3 of them to our Gendarmerie General Command next year. Afterwards, we will deliver 24 units a month to both our Air Force and Land Forces, and this is the second product, a product that will be exported abroad.

- 24 Units a month ? likely a spelling mistake and its 24 a year.

First flight of ATAK-2 helicopter 18 March 2023

We have a Sikorsky licensed helicopter, which we call the T-70. Again, the original ATAK was under license. The first flight of our ATAK-1, ATAK-2 helicopter, which we call T-129, is on 18 March 2023, God willing. Delivery is 2025 and is being serialized and we are delivering 3 helicopters to our Land Forces. 27 of them follow.

- 30 Orders for ATAK 2 (T929)

19-seater passenger version of ATAK-2

We hope to fly this T-929 in 2025 in the passenger version of the ATAK-2, which we call the T-929, in the version that carries soldiers behind the front or is used with civilians. If you followed what I said, there were 2 under license. There were 3 of us whose original license was ours. These 3 original Gökbey, ATAK-2 and new general purpose large 19-seater helicopters are licensed by Turkey until 2025, specifically TAI. After that, we serialize them. Only we are a company that put ATAK into series. Then we put the license we call T-70 into series. Afterwards, we are serializing three of an original helicopter, that is, six helicopters in two months, separate from each of them.

Temel Kotil: T929 delivery is in 2025. (3+27) 30 T929 will be delivered to Turkish Land Forces. First test flight of 10 ton utility helicopter will be conducted in 2025. Each helicopter will be produced 2 per month. Other drone projects will follow after Anka and Aksungur.

Gökbey is moving on really smoothly. The first three choppers will be delivered next year and seem like over 60 helicopters will be ordered for Turkish needs and negotiations with Azerbaijan are going on. I can see this helicopter is selling like crazy.

We have to thank Akp for that. The reason we cant just ban Hdp today is because of the legal gap created by the solution process.

I am more excited for the 10 ton utility helicopter more than the t929 , no idea why :D
