GÖKBEY Multirole Helicopter is a new generation, twin engine, 6 ton class helicopter developed in response to the growing market demand for higher mission flexibility in this class.

GÖKBEY is designed and optimized to meet and exceed the multi-mission requirements for hot & high geographical environments and for adverse weather conditions. The aircraft incorporates several new technology features to provide the highest levels of safety and operational benefits for operators.

Within the scope of the contract signed between Turkish Aerospace Industries, Inc. and Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) in 2013, GÖKBEY Multirole Helicopter is being developed for both domestic and international markets.

The platform has a five-bladed main rotor and a four-bladed tail rotor to minimize vibration and noise. Both main and tail rotor hubs are fully-articulated with elastomeric bearings. Both rotor systems are driven by a transmission system which consists of the three-stage main gear box having the capability of operation for 30 minutes in the event of loss of lubrication. Within the scope of the program, critical systems such as transmission system, rotor system and landing gears as well as aerostructures are designed from scratch in Turkish Aerospace.

GÖKBEY has state-of-the art ASELSAN avionics with glass cockpit having two wide touchscreen (8x20 inches) Integrated Mission Displays and two touch screen (8x10 inches) data entry Touch Command Control Unit. A 4-axis dual redundant automatic flight control system is developed to provide superior performance and handling quality.

The cockpit provides a comfortable and high visibility environment for both pilots. GÖKBEY cabin is designed for comfortable seating for 12 passengers. The extensive cabin space can be configured to meet the requirements of multi-purpose operations such as cargo, VIP transportation, ambulance, off-shore and search & rescue operations. The geometry of the helicopter is optimized for maximum aerodynamic performance with retractable landing gears hence providing an efficient fuel consumption leading to better range and endurance.

GÖKBEY Multirole Helicopter incorporates two LHTEC (a Rolls Royce & Honeywell Partnership) CTS800 turboshaft engines, 1373 shp each, enabling the aircraft to perform in hot & high environments and perform safely in one engine loss condition for Category-A certification. GÖKBEY is designed for IFR and VFR single pilot operations, night operations and flight in known icing conditions.

Civil certification process of the Helicopter is ongoing with Turkish Directorate General of Civil Aviation which is planned to be followed by EASA (European Aviation Safety Authority) certification.

The first prototype aircraft has successfully performed its first flight on 6th of September 2018 at its facilities Ankara, Turkey. Serial production is expected to start after 2021.

Did yall know? TR tries to lobby -

https://www.defenseworld.net/news/2...lear_Helicopter_Sale_to_Pakistan#.X0gnxygzaHs

Turkey has hired a Washington law firm to lobby with the US administration for securing an export licence which will help complete a $1.5 billion sale of ATAK helicopters to Pakistan.

“Concerned by the continued delay of the sale to Pakistan, previously unreported filings required by the U.S. Foreign Agents Registration Act show that Turkish Aerospace Industries-TAI (which manufactures the ATAK helicopter) hired US law firms, Greenberg Traurig LLP and its lobbying sub-contractor Capital Counsel LLC, to lobby the relevant congressional leaders and the White House to secure the requisite export licences,” Turkish media ahvalnews reported today.

The ATAK T-129 helicopter is powered by two T800-4A engines manufactured by LHTEC, a joint venture between the American firm Honeywell and the British company Rolls-Royce. The US is reportedly holding up export clearance for the LHTEC engine.

Following delay in delivering 30 ATAK helicopters, Ismail Demir, Undersecretary for Defence Industry of Turkey had stated on January 6, 2020, “Pakistan has agreed to give us another year (to deliver the helicopters). We hope we will be able to develop our indigenous engine soon to power the T129. After one year, Pakistan may be satisfied with the level of progress in our engine program, or the US may grant us the export license.”

I wonder if we integrate SOM or some lighter cruse missiles to this chopper ! That could work on Aegean theather ! 2 T129 on very low altitute firing 4 cruse missiles to the Island then head back to base using mountains and hills as a cover.

MrAShM and/or Temren will be viable options rather than SOM alikes.

I doubt that such thing will be integrated on T-129 or future ATAK-2 but on Naval choppers such as Seahawks maybe, Raytheon and Kongsberg revealed a MH-60R armed with two Naval Strike Missiles (185km), that's seriously one fooking lethal beast.

185km range is a lot. We will probably see Temren and the national MRAShM integrated. We still don't have information about the performance of the national MRAShM but according to @Cabatli_53 it will be similar to the MDBA Marte.

that engine needs to be applied to many things from uav to own choppers.. there is a huge need of domestic technology our enemies are willing to cooperate with their enemies and to damage even themselves a little bit just because they fear us rising up..

I hope these things will find big markets and shares

its a shame that our friendly nations have economical problems we need an achse of good partners
