A more survivable, compared to a TB2, faster launch platform. It gives more options to strike with from multiple directions and altitudes.
I wonder if we can have a very cheap, compact, long endurance loitering scout/laser designator UAV... It sould be an absoulte menace. Shoot it and your position is compromised, don't shoot and it detects you. Perfect for flushing out short range AA batteries or failing that, acquiring multiple targets per sortie and guiding all kinds of munitions.

T929 will have 3000 HP engines, this is what MR. Kotil says. Probably he is talking about the TEI engine developed in the future since the Motor Sich doesn't have such an engine as far as I know.

Would be more interesting if it gets EDF and batteries, can be docked back at the pylon, recharged and reused when necessary.

Couple this with a "bomb truck" helicopter that can loiter at high altitudes for an extended period of time. Maybe even an unmanned one.

Honestly, that is a more realistic vision for an unmanned helicopter because it no longer needs to compute the complex factors of target acquisition & engagement. Just be there, be at a high altitude, deploy scout UAVs, then fire at the targets. All directed by a ground station. Army aviators would love this.

I might totally be wrong though.

- Chief Test Pilot Arif Ateş, the first pilot who flew with T929:

* Our initial thought was to perform a short flight. We were stable at about 10-15 feet. This is what we call the flight of helicopters anyway. Hover, the hardest flight. But we did not want to land after taking off. Our helicopter's responses were very consistent with the commands we gave so we thought we could increase it a little more. We stayed in the air for about half an hour on the first flight and reached an altitude of 20 thousand feet and a speed of 10 knots. This is the generally accepted profile as regards the first flight of a helicopter in the world.

* At the beginning, we wondered if this would lift, but when we got up, we saw that it was incredibly stable. It is very stable, the motor-rotor integration is very good, the harmony is very good. First flight was extremely smooth and vibration-free. Despite its size, it is a very stable, very good helicopter."

* As part of flight tests, the altitude and speed limits will be increased.

* Currently the world's largest attack helicopter by length.

In Atak-2, 4 X TS-1400? Possible?

P.S. I'm not kidding, Ukrainian engines are actually not suitable for a modern military's use. It's nearly impossible to suppress heat traces. The USA will not sell engines to us after this time. In these conditions, the powertrain that will consist of 4 X TS 1400 engines can be seen until the TEI's TS-3000 engines, which will be derived from the TF-6000 engine's core, are put into service. If technically possible, of course.

IMHO 3xts-1400 should be enough. But it would make transmission complicated and expensive.
Also TUSAS has no experience with 3 engines. So they probably did not want to enter unknown territory.

Let's leave aside whether it is technically possible to build a helicopter with 4 engines or not.

Are we sure that the 4X engine design is proper ''to suppress the heat trace''? This design would probably be even worse than 2X Ukranian engines in terms of heat trace no matter how old technology are. :D

There is also a fuel efficiency issue.

Additionally, this kind of design would require so much money and effort. Designing the helicopter with 4 engines and then converting it to 2 engines... (2X TS 3000) Oh god. :D

Until the TS 3000 gets ready, I would use the Ukranian engines in any case.

There are many helicopters with 3 engines. If 3X TS 1400 were enough in terms of horsepower, we would not have to deal with Ukrainian engines anyway. We would design the helicopter according to 3X LHTEC T800 until TS 1400 is ready and we would continue on our way with a very minor modification since T800 and TS 1400 are very identical. I'm sure this topic has been discussed in the TAI.

But we are talking about a 11.5-ton helicopter. 3X TS 1400 = 4710 HP. (1570 X 3). There is a reason for Temel Kotil's 6000 HP statements. Both Land and Navy Commands obviously want a highly maneuverable helicopter despite its size which is very normal after AH-1W and T-129.

Mr Kotil: "We will deliver 3 Atak2 to the Land Forces in 2025. Then we'll continue to produce two Atak-2 in each month."

If it is to take its first flight in 2024, I think we can safely say it will be a similar setup to the T929.

14 of the 15 Hürkuş produced by TAI were exported with the permission of the Turkish Air Force.
At the moment, the first user for Hürkuş's newly developed model, Hürkuş 2, will be the Turkish Air Force.

According to the news of Tolga Özbek, Hürkuş delivered to Niger are starting their flights. Chad and then Libya will join the Hürkuş users.
