Army chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed has been made the 8th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineers of the Bangladesh Army.

The chief of army staff on Wednesday officially took over the guardianship of the corps, in a programme at Natore Cantonment, said a press release.

The corps personnel welcomed him with a guard of honour at the cantonment Parade Square.

In his speech, Shafiuddin recalled the martyred members of the corps who sacrificed their lives in the Liberation War in 1971.

He urged the engineers to remain prepared for addressing all the challenges in the century of innovation.

The army head also attended the annual captain conference of the corps. Senior officials were present at the event, the release reads.

The Golden Jubilee of the Bangladesh Army was celebrated in a befitting manner across the country on Friday.

The year 2021 carries a special significance for the Bangladesh Army and the entire nation as the Golden Jubilee of the Bangladesh Army was celebrated with the golden jubilee of the country’s independence and the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, an ISPR press release said on Saturday.

A colourful programme was organised at Dhaka Army Stadium on Friday to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Bangladesh Army and highlight the achievements of the Bangladesh Army, it added.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Bangladesh Army, the president, the prime minister, the speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, several ministers, and chiefs of Army Staff greeted the members of the Bangladesh Army.

To mark the day, a programme was held at the Army Stadium where about 11,000 distinguished guests including ministers, PM’s security affairs advisor, and notable members of the media and officers and employees of all ranks of the army attended.

More infrastructures in Sylhet cantonment.

General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed has inaugurated three new infrastructures with modern equipment at 901 Central Workshop EME in Dhaka Cantonment on December 8, 2021. The infrastructures include a light vehicle repair shed, UN shed and modern electronics lab.

The light vehicle repair shed will be able to repair all types of light vehicle currently in service with Bangladesh Army. The UN shed will repair vehicles and equipment used for UNPKO and the electronics lab will be able to identify problem and repair printed circuit boards of all armored vehicles, firing and communication equipment in service with Bangladesh Army.
