i have my doubts, just take a look at the sluggish pace of frigate programme...

And some ASW platforms , NO more Do-228NG !
If we cannot acquire the necessary vessels to maintain the bare minimum of deterrence, we will deserve what's coming for us.

That's fast 😂.
We don't know if this is Pr. 877 , a refurbished 877 or a new 636 either way BN is in trouble.
imo the only thing that might convince the political leadership to speed up procurement might be a pearl harbor type scenario or a repeat of the 2008 naval standoff, only this time we will have no advantage over MN.
on a side note,
We need to re-evaluate our relationship with Russia, whom have been sending men and material to MM. The Dutch offer for Surplus F-16 in exchange for Mig-29s to Ukraine sounds really good now. We can get rid of our Migs and get more capable F-16s. We should have condemned this invasion just like how they did with us 2019.

So I made a little investigation. A few months ago, Myanmar officials visited Vladivostok, which is home base of the Russian Pacific fleet. One picture shows an inspection of a submarine

I check the Pacific fleet orbat and it shows at least one project 877 decom'd as early as 2020. Could this be the one?

China, India and Pakistan also send men and material to Myanmar. It's unfair to single out Russia alone.
Also the Russian nuclear project is worth billions and is vital to Bangladesh. If you want to antagonize Russia it's best to wait until that is done.

DEW inaugurated the new shipbuilding shed. 42 meters long ship can be constructed here. Looks like DEW faced difficulties when it constructed ships in that open space. Now it can be averted.

Royal Navy warship HMS Tamar joined the Bangladeshi Navy for joint training in the Bay of Bengal, cementing relations between the two countries after a week-long visit.

The patrol vessel became the second Royal Navy warship in 16 months to foster naval, political and economic ties after frigate HMS Kent visited the Commonwealth nation in 2021.

HMS Tamar made the same journey up the River Karnaphuli leading into Chittagong, where crews of Bangladeshi warships and Coast Guard vessels lined the sides of ships and cheered Tamar into port, where a band, 50-strong reception committee and a bouquet of flowers awaited Commanding Officer Commander Teilo Elliot-Smith.

The welcome set the stage for a series of discussions, combined training and cultural exchanges with the emphasis on underlining the UK’s commitment to Bangladesh.

Tamar hosted the British High Commissioner Robert Dickson and his deputy Javed Patel plus Bangladeshi civic and military leaders for a demonstration of what the ship – and her four sisters – can do, plus traditional Ceremonial Sunset.

That was reinforced by a comprehensive tour of Tamar for Bangladeshi sailors who are keen to learn about the role and capabilities of the relatively new River-class vessels.

Tamar’s marine engineers conducted damage control training, and highlighted their ship’s ‘green’ features which make the ship the greenest in the Fleet – of particular interest as Bangladesh is frequently the victim of the effects of climate change.

Divers from the Royal Navy’s specialist Diving and Threat Exploitation Group flew out from the UK to conduct joint training with their Bangladeshi counterparts.

And Commander Elliot-Smith addressed 200 officers at the Maritime School of Warfare and Tactics about leadership in adversity, drawing on his experience from the grounding of HMS Nottingham off Australia 21 years ago. A concerted effort by the ship’s company saved the destroyer off Wolf Rock in 2002.

“From the moment we arrived, we have been hosted exceptionally,” he said.

“The Bangladeshi Navy have been very eager to exchange knowledge and understand the way we operate our Offshore Patrol Vessels.

“The visit has made clear the strategic importance of Bangladesh. Its Navy approaches interaction with the UK with a great sense of reverence, and they celebrate unanimously that their doctrine and policies are aligned to our own.”

On a solemn note, both navies honoured victims of the ‘forgotten war’, the campaign in Burma in World War 2, who are buried in Chittagong Commonwealth War Cemetery.

“It must have been so difficult, for those here fighting and the loved ones at home,” said Seaman Specialist Sean Brown, who was moved by the number of deaths after May 1945 among the 731 graves – including over 200 from pre-independence India (which included Bangladesh).

“Whilst Europe celebrated victory, mothers worried sick for sons far away, and soldiers fought some of the hardest battles of the war.”

Before departing Chittagong, the Brits were invited to a cultural evening laid on by their hosts, celebrating 50 years of Bangladeshi independence, links with Britain and her Navy.

Those links were reinforced with a combined sweep through the northern Bay of Bengal when Tamar sailed with Bangladeshi patrol craft BNS Durjoy and Nirmal.

Sailors traded places to experience life at sea with the two navies, as the three ships conducted a series of manoeuvres and exercises in close company before Tamar continued south on the next leg of her Indian Ocean patrol.

With her sister HMS Spey the ship is on a five-year mission to the Indo-Asia-Pacific, with Tamar focusing her efforts over the winter/early spring of 2023 in the Indian Ocean.

So looks like KSY is focusing on the existing shipyard instead of the Borguna site. It's built a new yard and launching platform in the southern part. The yard will have portable rail or balloon launching system. It will be able to launch commercial ship with a length of 125 meters, a draft of 5 meters and a displacement of 3000 tons.

Latest picture of the yard. Looks like land development work is still ongoing.
