Its irrational to respond to Biden's statements.

Lots of people are demanding the shut down of Incirlik base, a USA boycott, and closer ties to China/Russia.

How would this help the current scenario? Do you seriously believe that the US needs Turkey more than Turkey needs the US?
Any closer ties to the East will only lead to further sanctions, which will not only damage a fragile economy, but it will also strain relations with all Western countries.

The fact that people are opposing the statement suggests the Republic of Turkey holds responsibility, rather than a few dead Ottoman leaders.

I am also an advocate of we should keep it rational and not just ''exit Nato, kick US soldiers asses out of Turkey...''
We want these to happen but we will act methodically and always consider the results of our actions.
But I dont agree with your diagnosis on the US-Turkey relationship.

We see a US that does its best to hurt Turkey since the failed coup attempt in 2016. I wont even debate this. This is as real as moon.

They tried a coup attempt on us, they bombed our assembly, they put sanctions on us, they tried to hurt our already screwed economy, they constantly attacked our public image with their media, all those FETO accounts literally went anti-Turkey, they supported PKK/YPG, they supported Greece in our disputes, they even built a base in Dedeagac, they sanctioned us, they embargoed our defense industry.

They literally played all the trump cards they had in 5 years. Most of these cards were prepared and kept by them for decades and they just wasted all of them in a matter of 5 years. It is just ridiculous. Just let that sink in for a moment.

I dont know you guys but I sense an overall panic in this superpower. They went as low as weaponising history at last.

I think we need to realise we are living the years where the US is shifting to a regional superpower from a global one. I dont think we are attached to them as much as we used to be.

They can sanction us further I am aware of that but dont forget sanctions dont only hurt the other side and they are in war with China.

You do realise that the Republic of Turkiye is the successor to the Ottoman Empire.

They are all holding us accountable.

They cant hold us accountable for anything.
They are just another national state. They arent the judges of this World. That is Armenian mindset. Armenians, in fact the diasporan Armenians have this mindset of America being the supreme court of this World.
There are international courts for that and none of them ever found Turkey guilty. In fact ECHR found Perincek right in Perincek x Switzerland suitcase. Armenians are afraid of submiting to these courts. The ones in the bottom may be fooled but this is evidence for the ones on top being aware of what the reality is.

Also, the laws regarding genocide were made after WW2. A crime that was commited before it was criminalized cannot be punished according to philosophy of law, even if the Armenian genocide was a thing.

They're not saying Turkey was responsible - they say "Ottoman - era and "Ottoman authorities".

Recognizing the Armenian genocide is "to honor the victims", not "to blame".
Turkey continues to be a critical NATO ally, the United States - remains strong relations with Ankara.

It would be the equivalent of holding the current Italian goverment responsible for war crimes committed by fascist Italy in WW2.

Pretty stupid to hold accountable a country for events that happened in an empire that doesn't exist anymore and all people from that era now dead. What do nowadays Turk have to do with something that happened over a century ago ? Some people should try to turn the page and look at the future instead of being stuck in the past.

Erdoğan extends condolences to Turkey's Armenians over 1915 events

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan offered condolences on Saturday to the Patriarch of Turkey's Armenian community Sahak Maşalyan for the Armenian population of Ottoman Empire who lost their lives during the “difficult conditions” of World War I.

"I commemorate with respect the Ottoman Armenians who have lost their lives in the difficult conditions of World War I, and I extend my condolences to their grandchildren," the president said in a statement.

The president added that the politicization of the issue against Turkey, which needs to be researched by historians, has not brought any benefit for anyone.
He emphasized that Turkish and Armenian populations have been living in unity in Anatolia for centuries, adding that Ankara also wants good neighborly relations with Yerevan.

Turkey's position on the 1915 events is that the death of Armenians in eastern Anatolia took place when some sided with invading Russians and revolted against Ottoman forces. A subsequent relocation of Armenians resulted in numerous casualties, added by massacres from militaries and militia groups of both sides. The mass arrests of prominent Ottoman Armenian politicians, intellectuals and other community members suspected of links with separatist groups, harboring nationalist sentiments and being hostile to the Ottoman rule were rounded up in then-capital Istanbul on April 24, 1915, commemorated as the beginning of later atrocities.

Turkey objects to the presentation of the incidents as "genocide" but describes the 1915 events as a tragedy in which both sides suffered casualties.
Ankara has repeatedly proposed the creation of a joint commission of historians from Turkey and Armenia plus international experts to tackle the issue.

Thank you, I don't get why people are so two-faced and take everything so personally. First they complain about Erdogan and ultra-nationalist ideals , yet now they demand the shut down of a NATO base because Biden spoke about something that happened over a hundred years ago.

Ah cut it, as if its just Biden acknowledging lies. The list is massive why folks have no trust in NATO and its primary country and there are to many reasons for that. Dont try to downplay them.

Honestly Enver Pasha, Talaat Pasha and Jemal Pasha protected our homeland from Greek and Armenian terrorists.

If it wasnt for them we would be wiped out by them.

So you and me would not be alive.

Ottoman population census 1910: ~1.1-1.2 million Armenians -> Armenians claim 1.5 million killed -> Armenians in Syria, Lebanon, France and USA are from where?

No massgraves found, no evidence in form of documents or pictures only claims, Turkey once again should invite a International group of historians etc. and do a research looking for massgraves on points of the claimed "death and annihilation centers".

Figures actually started from 250k to 300k. Overtime they bumped it up to 500k to 800k now its 1.5 million.

I seen some posts where they claim its 2 million that got genocided.

Do you think Cypriot goverment will do the same for massacred Turks on the island?
Well it is basically not the same thing, despite many Greeks feel sorry about it, Cyprus issue is still active and Greek propaganda ignores what happened before 1974. And in Cyprus, all massacres are documented by UN so nobody can deny them. There are memorials on both sides but for their losses only. On the other hand, during whole conflict, slightly less than a thousand Turkish Cypriot died and around 200 of them massacred, while Greeks had much more losses at the end. Of course that does not make the crime less important but, civilized people would look both sides of the story. Despite they deserved I know Greeks also suffered, If they accept their crimes I would feel sorry for them as well. Luckily Turkey was protecting Turkish Cypriots in our story.

So we cannot compare what happened in WW1 to Cyprus Issue, while due to Ottoman records, at least 600k Armenian vanished, still it is a catastrophic event whether it is due to hunger, illness or etc. And Ottoman Empire lost at least 2 Mil civilians which is a tragic. Turkey does not deny what happened don't mix so called genocide campaign with the real losses. Thousands of civilians died, the question here is whether done systematically by state or intercommunal conflict, war, retaliations, hunger and illnesses. We are not denying the losses, just the way it is presented.

“Instead of blaming us, Armenians should be thankful because If it wasn’t for the events of 1915 now Kim Kardashian would still be living in Erzurum where she would’ve had to suck Kurdish dicks in high school.”

Just remember how the Turks were happy that trump who corrupted their currency put some sanctions against China now are they going to be happy if Biden did the same even when he recognized the Armenian genocide.
