Like I said before most of our tanks with 125mm gun are Type-59s and they are old. Sooner or later we'll have to replace them. Also our LCTs can carry max 48-50 tons MBT. Since we already bought light tanks from China and trying to diverse our source from that country if army don't buy any new MBT-2000 in future then Type-10 could be an option. After what we saw happened to Russian tanks in Iraq and Ukraine (and other areas), modern tank is necessary besides human development. If a tank can't survive enough in fight what's the point of having skilled crew?
I don't think army is going to buy MBT-2000 for replacement. ( old stuff, specially considering our next gen tank will be in Service for next 30 years )

As I said before, MBT-3000/VT-4 is within our reach in terms of cost, ( around $5 millions per unit ) weight (50/52 tons ) and easy operability.

As we saw with the procurement of VT-5, ( $3.5/4 millions per unit ) army is now ready pay some extra for up-to-date state of art assets, we can logically assume our next likely choice for the replacement of type69 and type 59 would be VT-4.

Minimum length have to be 9.76 meters and maximum 10.3 meters so doubt it will be possible unless we make new LCT with new requirement. (VT-4 is bit heavier, longer and wider)

Well, we will worry about these later.

Bacause, probably nothing is coming before 2030 anyway for type59 replacement. ( For now I just hope they can implement the plan for 2x more VT-5 regiment before 2030 )

Is there a plan to change mbt to 120mm. What about light tanks are they going to be 105 mm ? It would suck supply chainwise to not have enough suppliers of so many variant tanks.

Our newly inducted light tank is VT-5 with 105mm gun.

Best in its class. Can fire both 105mm Chinese as well as NATO ammunitions.

It is unlikely that we are going to switch to western origin 120mm MBT for our old tank replacement.

I think we will go with the next gen Chinese option. ( hopefully VT-4 A1 )

Yes, but we don’t need it.
Even the Pakistani vt4s didnt had it and with our light tank getting ready to break cover next months or so which is going to be pretty similar to indonesian harimau but with a 1000hp cummins engine and the only thing uncertain was the APS

Well…The reason we don’t need APS is because VT-5 Regiment is deployed with 10th Division at Bangladesh-Myanmar border. Where terrain is mostly vegetation.
Tanks positioning themselves in trees will have natural cover from top attack ATGM. besides, in Jungle terrain tank's role is different than normal circumstances. it mostly used as support for the infantry, instead of leading the charge. Infantry often position themselves in close proximity. Hence, APC going off likely to result in friendly casualties.

DRDO was working on an indigenous APS and the army had specified on having one but in the end IA want a tank with vt5 level protection that has to be amphibious and be 25 tons which is damn near impossible

VT5 and type-15(which China uses) are two different tanks.
