Apparently Chinese scamsters lure Indians and Asians to Thailand for jobs. From there, they are driven across the border to Myanmar where their passport is taken away and they face abuse while being forced to scam people in the West out of huge amounts. It’s called “pig butchering scam” in reference to pigs being fattened before slaughter. It’s a multi billion dollar industry and Myanmar doesn’t seem to care or do anything about it - as the local warlords must be getting a cut
