I think there is a misunderstanding. I am not disputing what you said. Just saying that, in the end no matter what either parties (Pakistan or India) tries with regard to Kashmir, change of border/status quo is very unlikely. All the effort will be fuitile as serious escalation is not possible.

Can you explain how so?
The terrain.
Those thrusts (there were three and half in 1971) that depended on armour failed. Those that were helicopter-based did brilliantly well. Anyone trying to attack with conventional forces is likely to come unstuck against a mobile, close-to-the-population light infantry, heavily armed with MANPADs.

We could always simulate a clash.

That is a very interesting take, After seeing what is going on in Ukraine conflict I was thinking even the existing 10x division is barely enough.

But, yes. BD's terrain is not at all favourable to conventional rapid armor thrust.

India is very much on defence first till it can bulk up its economy to something reasonable to its population size, which needs socio-economic consolidation and cohesion with what is within its territory to begin with (rather than dreaming about burdening this even more so in its current weak state). Pakistan learned the hard way already w.r.t East Pakistan what is not to be done. India learning and applying that is on its own time and dime to be seen. But actual aggression against large population is out of the question in basic cost terms, as China will pounce on any inevitable weakness caused even in the build up.

Akhand bharat, RSS clowns and all related viral gup shup serve only to weaken India's position in the interim.

The US couldn't bring any further ambitions w.r.t UK and Mexico in the 1850s (whatever the blowhards of that time might have blabbed anyway), the whole situation had changed in the domestic homefront with political deals, bargaining on fundamental social conservative vs social liberal (of the time) that would decidedly not be resolved peacefully in the end....decidedly because of what rules would apply to "new states" that were being given statehood that would tip the federal balance.

Post 1865, the issue never sizeably popped up again at all in North America....as there was sufficient recognition from war-weariness and costs.....that there was plenty on the plate to keep working at with what you have rather than pile more on it.

This was with a population level of 20 - 30 million at that time for the US, with the larger continental and world context as it was back then. So the 1850s version for India isn't going to be a decade, its going to be lot longer and will dissipate/resolve without what came intensely in the US case....but with some larger costs for sure.

i.e how more sane type of social conservatives displace these from the inside-out of BJP over time is the answer....but thats going to be a long unclear process. These things never are easy.

That is why I would, if planning Bangladesh defence against India, create robust, armour- and helo-killing infantry units (not divisions, brigades or smaller, ten company formations, very mobile, using a combination of ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles) on firm land (the western and northern boundaries), very large section/ low airpressure vehicles in swampy land, and Air Cushion Vehicles with load carrying capacity of 5 MT,10 MT and 15 MT for all riparine locations.

Equipment would be focussed on automatic weapons, 60 mm mortars and MANPADs, both anti-air and anti-tank.

I would also form a defensive perimeter around the CHT and base my defensive operations, essentially hit and run raids to degrade the enemy formations and harass his lines of communications and supply channels, within that core area, giving up Sylhet, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Bogura - the lot. Let the opposing army get bogged down in civilian administration, hit and run raids, and all that headache.

How did the Bangladesh women's football match against India stop in about five hours?

1707517965481.png

Another Bangladesh-India match, again excitement, controversy, discussion around that match. The two teams met in the final of the SAF U-19 Women's Championship football at Dhaka's Kamalapur Stadium on Thursday.

The results of the match which started at 6 pm came around 11 pm. In the end, the two teams were declared joint champions. But there are questions about the process, which is causing excitement in the field.
After the scheduled 90 minutes of the match ended with 1-1 goals, the game went directly to the tiebreaker. There is also an 11-11 tie.
Then the drama begins. The referees chose India as the champion through a coin toss. The Bangladesh team protested on the field. Later it was found that the bylaws of the tournament did not mention the coin toss but continued penalties. After that, when the match commissioner wanted to correct the mistake and play the game, the Indian team sat down.

In the end, after a long wait, discussion and compromise, the trophy was handed over to the captains of the two teams.

What happened in the game?

There was already interest in the football arena around the Bangladesh-India final. Although going into the fifth edition of the SAFF U-19 Women's Championship, Bangladesh have played in the finals of the previous four times, winning three times, losing the title once to India.
Bangladesh defeated India 1-0 in the group stage of this tournament as well. The remaining two teams of the tournament were Nepal and Bhutan.
However, India went ahead at the beginning of the final match. After scoring in the 8th minute, they were ahead in possession and attack in the rest of the time. But in the very last minute of the match added extra time Bangladesh equalized the game.
After the scheduled time ended with 1-1 goals, the game was played according to the rules in the penalty shootout. Both teams took five shots first and the scoreline was tied at 5-5.
After that, the rest of the footballers of the two teams started taking shots one by one under the 'sudden death' rule. In the end, with both goalies taking shots, neither could decide the winner, and the tiebreaker remained tied at 11-11.

'Match Commissioner's mistake'

The trouble started after that.
Daily Star senior reporter Anisur Rahman covered this exciting match from the press box. He described the situation to the BBC, "The referee called one of Bangladesh to take the shot number 12, when the footballer was going forward to take the penalty shot, the 4th referee of the match signaled to stop. Then the referees came to one side and began to discuss, the match commissioner joined the discussion."

The match officials were then seen calling the captains of the two teams. The referee tossed a coin with them. The Indian camp celebrates when India wins the toss. At that time, the captain of Bangladesh was seen expressing surprise, he also complained about something.
"Bangladesh captain Afida said after the match that she actually did not know what this toss was for. She thought that since the two teams took 11 shots each, it seems that the referees are tossing to see who will take the next shot", said Anisur Rahman.
But when Bangladesh realized that the champion was decided by toss, the whole team led by the team manager Amirul Islam Babu protested to the referees.
At this time, an exciting situation was created in the field. As the Indian football players celebrate the title against the angry Bangladesh team, the spectators can be seen cheering them.
Then the girls of India turned to the audience and celebrated. Bottles were thrown from the gallery. After the champion photoshoot, the captain of the Indian team went to shake hands with the referees at one point. But at that time the referee did not shake hands and signaled them to stay calm.
Shahnur Rabbani was commenting on this match, "We were not receiving any information then. I did not understand what was happening. However, there was a lot of excitement in the field. On one side, the screams of the audience in the gallery, on the other hand, the cheering of the Indian footballers on the field. At one point, additional police were also brought in for security,” he said.
The Bangladesh team is still negotiating with the match officials. Anwarul Haque Helal, general secretary of SAF, was there. "This has never happened in the past in our SAFF Championship, it was a mistake by the match commissioner, he may have given a decision without seeing Biloz. This is a situation where mistakes are made. We have spoken to AFC, they have not said that the penalty shootout will continue", said Mr. Helal.

What is in the bile?

Section 4 of the South Asian Football Federation – SAFF U19 Women's Championship Bylaws deals with technical regulations. Article 3 of 7 states, "If the winner cannot be determined in the semi-finals and finals at the scheduled time, then according to the rules of the game, penalties shall be awarded." No extra time will be added.”
Several referees told the BBC that the rule in football is that penalty shootouts continue until a winner is determined.
In football the coin toss can only ever be used as a last resort option, when the weather or the field is not quite suitable for playing the game, but that too has to be in the bails.
However, some other aspects of Biles were refuted in this match. As stated in Clause 1 of Article 8, if the game is delayed for any reason, the referees shall first wait for half an hour, trying to decide when the match can be started.
After that they can delay for a maximum of half an hour. If the match does not start after that, it must be declared abandoned.
Bilge did not mention the announcement of the joint champion.

India is presented with 'three options'

1707518336769.png

Bangladeshi footballers sit on the field for almost two hours. This time the Indian team is confined to their dressing room.
Safa officials also joined the discussion with the referee and match officials. During this time, three solutions came out, said Saf's secretary.
“One, to cancel this match and start from scratch; Two, penalty kicks, or three, declaration of joint champion. This offer was made to India, but they did not accept any of it,” said Anwarul Haque Helal.
When the players and officials of the Indian team who came to participate in the tournament did not comply, the organizers approached the All India Football Federation (AIFF). The Indian team finally accepted the proposal of the joint champion through the mediation of the AIFF president and secretary.
The Indian team took home the trophy and the championship medal even though they held the trophy together on the stage. The general secretary of SAF said that a new trophy will be made for Bangladesh.
"Actually this decision is in the interest of Saaf. It is for the development of the youth, winning and losing is not important here. It is not true that everyone is a champion. Doing this tournament so that the youth can be prepared for the future", said Mr. Helal.
However, in response to the question whether it will have any effect on the relationship with India, he said that only they can say that, but all decisions have been taken after discussion with India.

Not serious enough to be posted in India-BD relation thread, so just leaving it here.

I can only say, these stuffs are already heated enough, but what a bunch of stupid ass referees.

Who was the moron Match Commissioner?
Another hit work on nicobar project
So anything that doesn't tally with the brainless impulses of some uninformed people becomes a hit work? Whatever that expression stands for.

Massive development project is not some brainless impulse particularly if that project is one important for national security and some tree hugging liberals want to destroy it all for some ego of theirs that couldn't do anything for the country for 60 years.

So all progress means destroying the environment.
And all progress means an advance fromm the previous 60 years.
Are you aware of how the navy was built up, how the Andamans base was built up, how the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been protected ecologically, and saved from the disasters due to badly planned supposed development programmes in the Himalayas?
Maybe some more background knowledge would be useful for you.
