MAN Assembley line in Ankara 17:48, so we're not even producing parts. I think it's necessary to prioritize domestic production on trucks as well and kick parts production into high gear.

EDIT: I tried looking up BMC, and it's horrible.

That is because Turkish companies prefer to avoid competing. They just want handouts; in this case, they get them by becoming part of foreign companies supply chains. I think this risk-averse behaviour is a by-product of the developed rent-seeking culture.

Currently, 36% of Turkey’s manufacturing exports consist of medium-tech products and 61% of low-tech products, leaving only 3% to high-tech products exports.

yes, as you pointed out majority of Turks mindset is satisfied with being a supplier and not star of the show.

This mentality is to the detriment of our nation. Allowing companies with superstars to be sold to foreign hands is also a bad idea because the owner scores hundreds of millions of dollars and can retire without a worry.

We need entrepreneurs who goes up to Bill Gates level and don't retire.

Why are our defense sector still using foreign chassis, if anyone has a knowledge about it please share.

Shouldn't they have learned by now that it's a potential hindrance for export ?

is it due to foreign chassis like MAN being used in Brazil that they offer it to make maintenance on them easier ?
Corruption?

The problem is that people's idea of success is to get in good with the government and then use the resource to become wealthy, and if the government of the day doesn't play ball, they will be taken down.

Luckily, Erdogan's popularity and long rain have given him enough power to push these individuals to take more risks and do stuff like TOGG.

One of the problems with Turkey was that it is a democratic republic thus the political institutions were always treated as a thing that is used to make money while you are in office. the Chinese system works differently they are not a real democracy like Turkey. The Chinese government sees the state as something that is a part of itself thus increasing the power of the state is increasing its own power.

in other words, the perception of ownership of the state by the government led the Chinese government to push for economic activity that will empower the state and thus themselves, will most Turkish governments make short-term policies to favour only their rent-seekers over the state as there was no merging of the state. Now that said the Chinese government isn't perfect but and they have a lot of corruption but it is still less than Turkey.

It also helps that their population makes up 17.72% of the world's population, thus giving them the ability just to throw people at a problem till it goes away.

That said I want to make it clear that I'm not saying that Republics can't work I'm saying that political institutions need to be built around the people and culture not out of some Francophile obsession. The Turkish people were never suited for the type of government that Ataturk wanted to set up, thus the constantly corrupt political actors over the years.

I think we might have gone off-topic too much.

Honestly Azerbaijan modernising their Su25s with Turkish weapons and kits.

Is the way to go.

I dont give a shit if people love badmouthing Soviet/Russian jets the Su25 is a workhorse and has proven itself to be capable numerous times.

Azerbaijan is not going scrap its whole Soviet origin airforce.

Lets not forget that the Europeans and the Americans would easily embargo them if they wanted to buy their jets.

Yes actually that s too late to produce new 4th gen jets again which entered services since 1970s.

in 2030s KAAN,ANKA3 and other new-gen plane will replace the 4 th gen jet

Said that negotiation for FPB-57 and Parchim be upgraded with MAR-D radar. CMS will be from Havelsan

Well actually his reference is what was shared in the forum, within one of the Indonesian threads. Yet he is too prideful he can not provide a link to Len statement.

Not even a MoU, so better approach with care.

Is Len authorized for the upgrades by the way? Or is it just they are preparing an upgrade plan and budget to propose and compete with others?
