Czech, eh?That's interesting to say the least. I'm sure there's a Czech company out there to supply the radar. This would be a very interesting program, we haven't heard anything about it. Surely not a joint project, as we have no radars for an airborne platform for now and and there's no way they choose to start such a big project with foreign radars for TurAF. So Havelsan is expected to be a contractor or a subcontractor for an Indonesian AWACS program.
Let's see.
Isn't that basically what happened with Trisula? I didn't want to say it outright but what do you expect. Aselsan being lacking in that claim, Havelsan lacks the capability to design and build its own radars by itself. Someone has to supply it. Maybe wait 5-10 yearsCzech, eh?
Expect rebrand Elta radar then

There is strong indication that Indonesia will buy AEW&C aircraft from Havelsan. Does Turkiye have locally made AEW&C radar like MESA?
If not where Havelsan would get that?
News from Indonesian source.I have read the translation but could not see thing like that, what i understand is Indonesia will join projects and working more together.

They are not a gift, they will be paid for eventually.I mean I would expect that turkey would give them older Cobra 1 and older Kirpis not brand new and expensive vurans
I know that’s why it would make sense for them to get already used Kirpis and cobras as they would be the cheapest option for themThey are not a gift, they will be paid for eventually.
They are investing in the future,Syria will be rich enough to pay for it in a couple of years.I know that’s why it would make sense for them to get already used Kirpis and cobras as they would be the cheapest option for them

You have a TB2 with 93-98% Turkish input but you can only sell 35% of it under SAFE and the remaining costs will be paid by other means.EU's new 150bn defence fund SAFE is now online. Turkish companies as I understand it will still require EU partners, but this will open the door to Turkish companies to get contracts with direct EU funding of low interest loans, both for EU and for Ukrainian needs.
"The eligible activities financed through SAFE will relate to the first list of priority areas identified by the European Council on 6 March 2025 and will be divided into two categories of defence products:
1) ammunition and missiles; artillery systems, including deep precision strike capabilities; ground combat capabilities and their support systems, including soldier equipment and infantry weapons; critical infrastructure protection; cyber; military mobility including counter-mobility;
2) air and missile defence systems; maritime surface and underwater capabilities; drones and anti-drone systems; strategic enablers, such as, but not limited to, strategic airlift, air-to-air refuelling and C4ISTAR systems as well as space assets and services; space assets protection; artificial intelligence and electronic warfare.
Defence products belonging to category 2 will be subject to stricter eligibility conditions, requiring for the contractors to have the ability to decide on the definition, adaptation and evolution of the design of the defence product procured.
For both categories of the products, procurement contracts will have to ensure that the cost of the components originating outside the EU, EEA-EFTA states and Ukraine is not higher than 35 % of the estimated cost of the components of the end-product...."
Most of our largest firms are eligible for the funds per what they build.
I really don't think TB2 is <90% Turkish, but yes. It's unclear if Turkey (still) being a candidate country puts us in a better spot than say Korea and whether we should sign a defence treaty with EU.You have a TB2 with 93-98% Turkish input
Do we really need EU to help us militarily when we are already a NATO member?I really don't think TB2 is <90% Turkish, but yes. It's unclear if Turkey (still) being a candidate country puts us in a better spot than say Korea and whether we should sign a defence treaty with EU.
Turkey, not being a member of EU, EEA, EFTA or Ukraine, is not eligible for SAFE funds. This just opens the avenue for low interest loans that will be paid by EU to be funneled to purchase of Turkish weapons and systems by these countries. Many EU countries already opted for Turkish products before this was signed as well, SAFE just makes it easier for them to finance any deals. That's why I posted it in the export thread.Do we really need EU to help us militarily when we are already a NATO member?
