A NEW FIRST, A NEW SUCCESS FROM ASFAT!

ASFAT has completed Türkiye's first export of a warship to a NATO and European Union member country!
The contract was signed between ASFAT and a Romanian Ministry of National Defence for the export of a Light Corvette!

🇷🇴🤝🏻🇹🇷 A day of Pride for Romania and Türkiye!

The sale of TCG Akhisar to Romania was also another first for MKE who ‘de facto’ exported its first in-house developed 76 mm cannon Denizhan to a NATO member.

yes..

As Naval News previously reported, Merah Putih-class frigates are notable for their extensive use of Turkish-made combat systems. The ships will be fitted with, among others, ASELSAN-developed sensors and radar systems, combat management from HAVELSAN, and missiles as well as VLS from ROKETSAN.

The Roketsan MİDLAS (National Vertical Launch System) is a versatile system that can use both hot and cold launch methods, depending on the specific missile being fired.
Also hot launch?
Seems there is no dedicated exhaust uptake for hot gas exit at the center between cell rows.

Türkiye's defense and aerospace industry exports reached $7.445 billion in the January-November period, showing a 30% increase compared to the same period last year and exceeding all-time annual statistics.

Detailed Monthly Breakdown (2025)::

January $382 million
February: $434 million
March: $884 million
April: $539 million
May: $741 million
June: $623 million
July: $989 million (Highest monthly export)
August: $834 million
September: $574 million
October: $708 million
November: $747 million

Given that the monthly average is $700 million, annual exports are likely to exceed $8 billion this year.

When KAAN enter production and available for export market, then the value will increase further, there will be significant increase I believe.

I must have missed it, where was it declared please ?
These are SASAD figures. Their 2023 report outlined a target of 10.2 billion from 2023 which is yet to be hit. This "defence export" figure also includes civil aerospace exports.

It's not a small number by any means, I believe 8.5b puts us at about 12th largest exporter. But, in a world that defence spending increased about 3x since 2022, it's not increasing on that same line; probably due to most high value items not yet being ready and bad finance institutions. First issue is being solved, not much we can directly do for 2.

Next year's target is 11 bn. IMHO, passing 10 bn is important we can now safely say that our defense industry sector is mostly self-sufficient.

Not only that, Turkey has created a military-industrial complex that is now largely self-sustaining.
With the new defence and security complex in Ankara – "the Turkish Pentagon" – an institutional and industrial interdependence has emerged that functions independently of short-term political majorities.
Regardless of which party or government comes to power in the future, Turkish foreign and security policy will remain structurally tied to this complex and to the SSB. The industrial base, ongoing long-term programmes, export commitments and technological dependencies set the strategic framework.
This development is effectively irreversible. Even political actors who would pursue other priorities can hardly escape this reality – similar to the situation in the US, where the military-industrial complex has more or less determined the direction of foreign and security policy for decades.

I am having a hard time finding SASAD 2023 defence and aerospace export target numbers. All I have found is the section below which is far from a number like $10bn. When the previous year is only $4.4bn who in his right mind can estimate a sales of $10bn I will never know.

View attachment 78698

Turns out I misremembered.

2023 goal from 2019 per Demir was 10.2B. So the spade of missing marks in the sector is going on since at least 2019, not 2023.

"Prof. Dr. Demir stated, "The US, Spain, and Italy are among the top suppliers to Turkey. The gap between exports and imports is narrowing. In 2018, the US, Germany, and Oman were the leading countries in Turkey's defense product exports. Exports to the US and Germany are increasing every year. Aircraft and helicopter parts are at the top of the list of the top 10 exported products. The export target for the defense and aerospace industry is $10.2 billion in 2023."

Similar remark from SASAD's 2019 report.

10B goal was always the highest mark they could think of. After so many years, they got more realistic. But, with how the worlds looks now, it should be hit.
