Economy professor at work, it will be a good item for a thesis: how to demolish an economy

*15 already.

They have ruined it, stock food if you can.

It will take decades to undo the damage

It is why earlier I said its criminal move to lower interest rates (larger replies they are from give context):

It is why I call this move criminal.

I don't know what TR govt will use to explain the worsening situation they are creating by own hand further.
I stand by it being criminal to lower interest rates in this environment, as that will also affect what little investment TR is getting.....and the hidden inflation imposed.

You see the issue now materialising is the actual inflation rate (within TR) is transmitting more clearly in exchange rate process.

When it comes to CPI basket stuff, the govt can do mathamagic a lot:

Flow Type 1) TL--->TL---->TL----->TL---TL etc etc (domsetic) money flow process

By focusing and adjusting where needed in these subcomponents of the money flow in the basket monitoring.

So you can get a 20% inflation level (or lower if you want it lower) when real inflation rate is lot higher...simply by looking at what you want to look at.

But the money flow process structure changes drastically when other currencies (TR Central Bank has no issuing authority or control over) are involved:

Flow Type 2) TL----> USD/EU -----> TL------>USD/EU------>TL--------->USD etc etc money flow process

The USD/EU parts are huge inertia weights and large credible reference points.... in this compared to TL.

There is simply no option to hide inflation (in flow type 2) especially when you use large levers like interest rates...and especially in the wrong direction to the situation.... (imagine pressing on throttle when you need to press on brake)

In effect the TL depreciation is transmitting and correlating to the real effective inflation rate within Turkey which stands lot higher than the official one.

In effect the hidden + actual inflation is lot higher than many might assume (is it 30%? is it 40%?)...that is what you are seeing in exchange rate now....the actual liquidity over-supply and over-pressure.

==========================================================================

@Khagan1923 your post was very poignant one.

There is enough bulk in Turkey to see this through long term, but the damage is going to take its toll for lot of your lifetimes.

There is whole complete year left (2022), 2021 has not even finished....

When the body does not get good or basic balanced meals, it loses energy and goes into starvation mode slowly.

There are tiers to this: using fat reserves, then protein/muscle burning (when no more fat left to burn)....till you get to the organs finally which is terminal if left to be.

TR is somewhere in early - mid fat reserve burning stage (given the activity it is still doing necessarily to function with the inadequate meals coming in)....so there is still long way to go before things get really bad (when further liquidation for survival needed)

It can correct itself in 2023....and it absolutely needs to for recovery and renewal.

Sometimes you only see it later during the recovery, what tier the body reached in starvation.

UAE Economy Minister al-Mari: "Economic relations with Turkey are getting stronger and this situation offers great opportunities to establish new partnerships in different fields. Today, we are starting a new era in sustainable economic partnership between the two countries."

(?)
Translation: "Erdogan went begging to us for cash so he placate the masses long enough to get past 2023 unscathed and we got the whole country in our claws."

Will this be the end of political islam in Turkey? Or is Turkey filled with these charlatans from top to bottom?
I think it will exist in some pro-Turkish form mainly because of how much atheism and nationalism has risen in the country. A major problem is that the form of Islamism being pushed in Turkey is very much the version that the Arab monarchies invented i.e. Wahhabism. I'm sure very few people now remembers that Diyanet was established for the sole purpose of preventing such cancer from infiltrating Turkish religious sensibilities.

The emirates are alone, since MBS is no longer Biden's friend, MBZ wants to do business with Erdogan, the UAE want Turkish drones, they buy military equipment much more than the Azeri who use only 10% of purchases from Turkey

Do not forget that Azerbaijan is a buy and financier of Israel, we can not really say that they make billions to Turkey because they bought some drones, Ukraine, Morocco do better.

The emirates are big customers of Turkey, much more than your home country that spends its money buying Israeli.
The Arabs buy our goods, our armaments, they travel to Turkey while you spend your dollars in Israel.

The rise of the dollar has nothing to do with the country's economy, countries like Fiji or Jordan that do not produce anything have a stable currency despite never evolving.
The dollar is a casino currency, the bankers are the S*P, Fitch, Moody's, how much is the Russian ruble worth? Russia largest exporter of oil and gas.
you have to be stupid to believe that the dollar is rising because of a bad economy

We are one of the few importers aside from Ukraine who actively use Turkish tech and were doing it while UAE was funding Haftar.

Funny how you cut off where the article is from - Middle East Monitor. It's also incorrect. The numbers are only for the first quarter of 2021, in general UAE is nowhere near the top third of importers. It's not even in the top 5 normally. Meanwhile Azerbaijan has consistently been one of Turkey's top trading partners. And kindly piss off with your snide remarks towards Azerbaijan's partnership with Israel. Yes, we prefer to have cordial relations with countries that have something else to offer besides oil and nutjob fundamentalists. All emiratis do is go on all-expense paid trips to Turkey and buy properties to score free citizenships while the locals get screwed over.

Assuming of course that you aren't just a UAE bot flooding the net before MBZ's visit. I've seen a fair amount of UAE shilling in the past few days on various forms of social media related to Turkey.

EDIT: BTW, even in the article you linked, Azerbaijan is still the second biggest importer above UAE.

"DOLLAR BAN"

After the historical increase in the exchange rate and the depreciation of the TL, the Vatan Party repeated its previous demand and said, "The dollar should be banned." In the video shared on the official Twitter account of the Vatan Party, "We have always said it, we say it again: Let the dollar be banned! The Turkish lira in Turkey! End the free market regime! Controlled planned economy! The only remedy is the Production Revolution!" expressions were used.

-------------
Look at currently Erdoğan's supporter but exhater , Perinçek is saying.

So Erdoğan is deliberately starting production revolution?? İsn't he??

Soon you will arrest bank deposits?

Government should stop their projects financed in foreign currency. That would be the biggest help to Turkish economy.

The real question is if this is allowed to continue will the economic woes be so horrible that Government will postpone and diverse defense spendings to their own projects.

Look at how Philippines has not been able to acquire new vessels to PN and how it has been postponed, all so Duterte can borrow money to his infrastructure projects.

Robin Brooks, chief economist at the International Finance Institute (IIF), revealed the type of manipulation being done against the Turkish lira in his graphic share on his twitter account.

fortunately we will not count on you to export Turkish products to France or Europe, if you are not happy do as African or Syrian refugees come to France and you will see if you will have food or work.
Europeans will open their doors to you in your dreams

The evolution of a country goes through sacrifices and you are part of it

The initial objective for Ankara would be to produce engine solutions for its helicopter programs, which today are severely handicapped by US sanctions in this area. The motorization of combat drones, such as the Akinci or the future TB3 to operate from the Anadulu class helicopter carriers, will also be a priority for the Turkish aviation industry, as will that of the TRJ 328 regional transport aircraft derived from the German Dornier 328 and for TFX.
