Pakistan’s first National Security Policy wants peace with India, ‘no hostility for 100 yrs’

Pakistan PM Imran Khan to release policy Friday. The 100-page policy for 2022-26 has put onus on achieving economic security, normalising trade ties with India.

Peace with immediate neighbours and economic diplomacy will be the central theme of the country’s foreign policy in the new National Security Policy, scheduled to be unveiled on Friday.
The original 100-page policy, which would be kept under wraps, leaves the door open for trade and business ties with India without final settlement of the longstanding Kashmir dispute provided there is progress in the talks between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, an official in a background briefing to journalists said on Tuesday.

“We are not seeking hostility with India for the next 100 years. The new policy seeks peace with immediate neighbours,” the official said, adding if there was a dialogue and progress in it, there would be a possibility of normalising trade and commercial ties with India as it had happened in the past.
Relations between Pakistan and India have been at a virtual standstill since August 2019, when India revoked the special status of the disputed territory. Pakistan, in reaction to the Indian move, downgraded diplomatic ties and suspended bilateral trade with India.
In February last year, there were some hopes of a breakthrough when the two sides agreed to restore the ceasefire understanding along the Line of Control (LoC) but the process could not make further headway.

Words don't necessarily replicate actions and we've learned that from history be it Kargil or the likes since Army>Govt in pak. Wouldn't be surprised if pak's foreign/security policy is being drafted by china. We should be extremely cautious and wary of pakistan and china's nefarious designs

As far as they wish to discuss the return of PoK, we shouldn't have a problem with discussions.

Kashmir can't be resolved by talks since neither side is willing to back off. The rivers originating from Kashmir are the lifeline for pakistan whereas it is a strategic location for India

Unless one of us go rogue and start a full scale war, it's gonna be a stalemate with the routine skirmishes we've been seeing. It's important we move in population from BIMARU states into districts bordering LoC, provide them protection similar to what Israel is doing in West Bank, bring in new economic policies to generate employment which will lure people from joining extremist orgs

Both sides should convert LoC into the new IB, accept current status quo and open up the region for tourism

I agree - it's practical. But in reality Pak has no legal or moral right to PoK. If LoC is converted to IB, it would indeed be magnanimous on India's part.

Can only be taken seriously if they do a concrete move like handing over terrorists to face prosecution regarding their role in perpetrating crimes in India.....be it in Kashmir or Mumbai.

Otherwise its just another word salad intended to deceive and seek some breathing room from growing economic suffocation of their own doing.

They (DHA elite there) are still extremely blind/ignorant to how the world has changed since the 80s and 90s.

The 'elected' government of Pakistan has little to no freedom in deciding foreign policy, especially with regard to India, that was & always will be decided by the Pak Army-ISI establishment, not the puppet government. So any such "policy" unveiled by the government in my eyes has no relevance.

Better goi don't pay a heed and look at various options to harrass paki establishment , be it lobbying for removal of GSP+ status of Pakistan or foreign dialogue with nations supplying weapons to Pakistan , to create a single vendor situation for them ,so china rips them apart for small exports .

These all are a joke and if a common person understands this ,then establishment understand it better , and aman ki asha ka tamasha gang is not in power .

Right now economic burnt is on Pakistani middle class , it should reach establishment , then only we can go on discussion table

Also the opposition is not involved in this policy making anyway so it will be reversed as soon as the next gov moves in comfortably. This is mostly to relieve their economic pressure elsewhere.

Finally got around to watching it, guy almost word for word says what i've been musing/murmuring for the last few years.

In any case there are a million and one problems India has to deal with and make better at home.

Pakistan establishment is a perpetual "pay attention to me" sociopathic clownshow.
It is for (rest of) Pakistan to deal with that on its time and dime....not us.

Us jumping the line on that (before most Pakistanis themselves) will just drain resources and time (and even lives) like its done already....stuff we could put to far more important use on ourselves or countries with a basic scrupled approach in relations with us.

Just look at that lutyens lady in "the print" telling modi should attend Pakistan SAARC hosting... and that he is "getting in the way" if he doesnt or whatever other BS floats in her mind. Unbelievable this persistent dullardly rot (at this late stage in the game) among certain Marie Antoinette insular strata of India.

I already disliked immensely Modi dropping by to visit Nawaz Sharif that time. These people (musical chair lackeys + DHA controllers) all have significant innocent Indian blood on their hands...is there no basic understanding of this?

The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) said it has received a communication from Pakistan's Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Web Analysis Division, demanding that it take down the "Bengali Hindu Genocide" web page, which captures a variety of perspectives on the genocidal actions of then West Pakistan's (now modern Pakistan) military, "within (24) hours".

The letter also states that the government of Pakistan will "remove or block" access to HAF's "Bengali Hindu Genocide" web page in Pakistan. This nearly-10-month genocidal campaign left two-three million people dead, 200,000-400,000 women raped and more than 10 million people displaced -- a majority of whom were Hindus, the HAF said in a statement.

"Your website i.e https://www.hinduamerican.org/1971-bangladesh-genocide is involved in dissemination of content with intent to ridicule, defame the Armed Forces of Pakistan in order to provoke anti-state sentiments, cause disharmony, feelings of enmity among masses at large, which is prejudicial to the integrity, sovereignty and security of Pakistan," said the communication from Pakistan.


The HAF has refused to take down the site.

"The government of Pakistan's feeble attempt to threaten and intimidate a respected American non-profit organisation is just the latest example of its anti-American, anti-Hindu acts," stated Deepali Kulkarni, HAF director of human rights.

"The Islamic Republic of Pakistan has a proven track record of killing, forcibly converting or driving out Hindus, Christians, Ahmaddiya Muslims and other religious minorities in Pakistan, and now it appears that it is going after these same religious minorities in other countries, too," Kulkarni said.

The HAF said its website has been blocked for viewers in Pakistan.
