But why would Indonesia want Su-35 of all other fighter jets.. KFX is gonna be introduced into service in around 2026 why burden yourself with that poor performance fighter jet like Su-35.. If Indonesia wanted to bolster it's fighter jet inventory than go for Rafale which IAF has already signed letter of intent for but in the main time skip Su-35 but if it is for good gesture than I guess you can drop could of billions on it to charm the russians but as deterence is doesn't really offer much.. The current Indonesia inventory is much better and su-35 will not provide an upgrade
Because it is made in Russia, and no its not about the quality it is because of "just in case measures", in case the west decided to slap some embargo to Indonesia again. The only reason Indonesian air force have SU-27 and SU-30 is because of embargo.

Propeller -> LIFT -> Fighter
Propeller -> transport, as co-pilot first (probably). For jet fighter there is no such thing as co-pilot like in commercial plane thus they need to rack exp from using LIFT.
Our T50 can also be used for bombing mission, not sure if its for all or some of it.
Ngawur jauh amat

Basic trainer, in TNI-AU inventory this will be Grob G 120TP or any other modified single engine turboprop (Cessna 152 or Cessna 172)
Primary trainer, in TNI-AU inventory this will KAI KT-1 Woongbi
Advanced trainer, in TNI-AU inventory this will KAI T-50 Golden Eagle (not sure if BAe Hawk 209 is still use as advance trainer)

BAE Hawk 109 you mean, 209 is legit single seat light fighter

Egypt Rafale vs Su-35 mock BVR dogfights.

According to the article:

- Su-35 played a role of aggressor but its radar failed repeatedly
- Rafale Spectra Electronic Warfare Suit not only attacked but successfully jammed Su-35 radar multiple times making it blind in the sky and eventually shot downed by Rafale.

SU35 with no EW suite vs Rafale F4 + Spectra
what a nice apple to apple configuration for a combat simulation

Why?
Can we choose what our enemy deploy?

Bullshit, UAC sold their Yak 130 around 800 million US Dollar for 24 unit to Bangladesh. I don't think they can build a much cheaper frontline fighter compared to the less complicated LIFT trainer. Russian well known to put price tag of their Airframe not the complete system (including engines) on media
May be it a price tag for the mock up 🤣
And why mikoyan gurevich is pushing tnei own model my wild gues is becouse the presdir OF UAC is A MiG presdir
For su-35 contract is " come into force" and from what i hear its will eventualy come and you must been known the intelek tual actor behind it..again the power of "emak - emak", back again to "seing is beliving".

With the amount of money we have already sink and continue to sink on the KF-21s, Checkmate is a no no.

Forget about everything else, the first unsolvable problem would be CAATSA.

Having said that, the MoD has ambition to buy hundred of new fighters. 36 Rafales + 18 F-15EX will only give us 54 fighters. Those pro-Russia military higher-ups would have been in MoD's ear after the Checkmate announcement.

this contract is still breathing?

We still have big question mark about the $1.1 bil PSP approved money that's been idle until now.

We still have 16 (?) Super Tucano trainer as well, no?

nope, but we can choose what asset to fight the enemy

if this simulation is based on their (Egypt) possible threat from other nations, Israels F35 or F15 or F16 is better.
waaayy more realistic than Rafale F4/3 + Spectra

How about testing Su35 resistance against enemies jamming?
Something that Israel and Turkey very capable of.

There is several report of their deployment in Syria where there is no much stellar performance there

I thought we want 36 F-15EX ?

Anyway, getting excited for the KF-21, even the basic block 1 would be one of the most formidable fighters in ASEAN. It would be a good replacement for Vipers, especially after the 2030+ period where we'll be retiring those old birds.

50 KF-21 is already excellent for the first batch, would be better if we continue to the next block 2 and block 3. KF-21 should be the workhorse of the air force the way the F-16 usually does.

Indonesian Air Force assets 2030 upwards should be a mix of KF-21, Rafale and F-15EX, while we get rid of Flankers and retiring F-16s.

"Su35 resistance against enemies jamming"
if that is the case, why they make this simulation look like an air-to-air BVR combat??
why don't they put Khibiny to SU35??

Why? Jamming isn't gonna happen in BVR combat?
Do Egypt has Khibiny?

Talking about Khibiny

One is the continued Russian reliance on Digital Radio Frequency Memory (DRFM) as the basis for the signals generated by these jamming pods. This is a system by which the threat library of an EW system recognizes the radar signal that it is receiving and parrots back the signal so that the radar system appears to have contacted nothing. This method depends on the pulses from adversaries to be on a constant frequency and at a standard, regular interval.

“This is no longer the case with more modern radar systems,” said the same Ukrainian designer. “Today’s radars are often ‘frequency-hopping’ and also the pulse width varies and with no repetitive pattern—therefore making it impossible for many jammers to mimic the incoming signal in such a way as to adequately conceal the aircraft.”

A second issue is the power levels of Russian jamming systems. The strength of Russian EW signals is at times overpowering, Ukrainian EW specialists tell AIN, but that signal is also so strong that it is also like a beacon. For any enemy’s anti-radiation weapon that has a “home on jam” mode, it literally makes the Russian aircraft a target.

No its not F15
It's not gonna hinder it?
It's hard for me to imagine US just gonna let us slide without us buying some fighter first from them.

Do you mean Mak Banteng push the deal bro?

I dont know why, I Hope my guess is wrong but why so many "Big" Procurement tend to being backed up or maybe bawaan some influence politician?

Yes in the end maybe its all about money being wrapped by news of this Alutsista is the best and optimum to guard Indonesian sovereignity to cover behind it
