Well, it's come from Airbus spokesperson themself tho, no need to put smoke and mirror.

From the article at least what we can ensure with Airbus is to do countertrade (offset) since the order not meet minimum purchasing value for ToT. Sadly it wasn't drscribe what ToT, wether its Cn 235 or A400.

Thats why other than 2 planes, MoD have sign another 4 planes as an option (from here some light already appear why 4 additional planes is appear in contract). although it was bassically a cargo plane i've read some news if Airbus developing a kit to put boom on A400. In conjuction to this problem further airplane contract such as AEW, Tanker, Maritime Patrol have a slight chance to be cut in near future.

Thats why we call it a bussiness, the population of A400 isnt as much as Il 76, thus make cost per unit relatively high. There's something to be sacrifice if we really want to grab what we want.

And Airbus know, if CN 235 has bright future ahead. The only competitor for its market is only be CN 295.

I dont think A330 MRTT will be sacrificed, based on acquisition program which has been approved by Bappenas ( Minister of Finance is the last gate and she can slash the figure or approve similar foreign loan ), Transport will get 1.5 billion USD foreign loan and special mission aircraft get 1.5 billion USD.

A400 M acquisition can be put in transport or special mission category.

Anyway, both A400 M and A330 MRTT are Airbus products.
