So is there any news / leak / rumour on the type of AEWC plane and the radar it will be using?
Is this PPT opening from RAPIM AU can be considered as leak?

The idea and probably suggestion of choosing Erieye have been around for years. Add that with some unconfirmed rumors about SAAB returning to Indonesia a few months ago and it might be true that we'll pick that radar system. As for the platform, I assume that either it will be installed on C-295/CN-295, converted Hercules or - less likely - a whole new aircraft.

As far as I know there is practically no E model airframe on Amarg.
(Just one, lone early production E model)

Is that so? Well, the platform on the ppt presentation is Embraer R-99, so...
In any case, the radar itself is platform dependent so it can be installed on, say, converted TNI-AU B-737 transport.

Hey guys 1st time posting here.

Also glad to see we finally finalize on air force requirements but also not glad that it doesn't include Vipers so if you guys hear a loud scream somewhere near you that would probably be me after hearing the news.

Also to add so I'm not just shitposting: https://www.aa.com.tr/en/asia-pacific/indonesia-to-boost-air-force-with-f-15ex-rafale-jets/2149103

Along with the new additions, the air force will also modernize its existing combat aircraft this year, Prasetyo said.

So can our C/D falcons can still be upgraded to Viper standard or it will just be another eMLU upgrades?

That is not an Embraer...the pic on the presentation is a Saab GlobalEye. The platform is a Bombardier Global 6000.

So it's confirmed we will be going for the swedish AWACS solutions instead of spanish like previously guessed?

Which is better(/cheaper) anyway brazil embraer r99 or the canuck bombardier global 6000/Globaleye?

I personally have always used raphael lol.

Because of TMNT (grew up watching) and also excellent painter too lol.
Daso rafal~

Daso Rafal is actually how Dassault Rafale is pronounced,Lol. I've never heard anyone saying Ra-Fa-Le. Forget to pronounce the E at the end of Rafale.

Advance IFF (Bird Slicer) Pesawat F-16 eMLU

138717878_1023933961450659_2549546026856207317_n.jpg

Bird Slicer aircraft F-16 eMLU TNI AU (photo: Squadron udara 3) Advanced Identify Friend or Foe (AIFF) is an additional component on Indonesia's F-16 eMLU aircraft. The AIFF consists of avionics and antenna components that are shaped like small fins that are placed in front of the cockpit and are nicknamed "Bird Slicer".

This AIFF transponder is equipped with encryption on the signal, with the aim that the identification process on the target can take place in silence. Without the AIFF capability, in an aerial combat both in dog fight scenarios (close-range duels) and beyond visual range (long-range combat), it will be very susceptible to mistakenly shooting at friendly combat aircraft or even civilian passenger aircraft.

Although the radar is platform dependent, integrating it into a new platform would require re testing and re certification, of which takes time. And beside the Global 6000 isn't exactly unknown platform in Indonesia either. The ERJ-145LR on the other hand is an unknown platform. Moreover, why using C-295 when the radar is already well integrated (and certified) in more capable platform.

Well yeah. But the point I was trying to make was: rather than buying another new aircraft for the air force, it might be better to use the types which already serving in the air force instead.

But if they still want a new platform as well, then so be it.
