as long as we remain as an unreliable ally (by reliable please refer to Aussie as example), have spotty maintenance and our AF has not evolve to become a professional and tech savvy AF like RAAF or RSAF we can really forget operating F-35

Agreed, FIX our C4ISR Infrastructure first before buying F-35.

I'm not disagreeing with you. It's just strange, the U.S. (Trump administration) have said NO and instead offering F-15/F-18 since Dec 2020, but according to @Madokafc we're still in talks for F-35 until now.

Biden has different view or what?🤷‍♂️

Coincidentally, at the end of last month there's speculation that USAF would retire the oldest batch of F-35 that they are currently used for training.

It'd take expensive budget to upgrade them, so the most efficient option is to just retire them and replace them with the newest versions.

trump pushing boeing products due to his son in law is an advisor in the lobbying team for boeing
it has nothing to do with our need, planning, or even request

I think the talks may not necessarily result in acquisition of F-35. There are many potential possibilities that can result from such talks

If the cost is prohibitive even for USAF, there's a high probability that it will be waaay more prohibitve to us

The article is talking about the cost to upgrade them to the standard of the newest versions, not the cost to operate them.

This makes sense. So the US hasn't actually said NO. That's probably why the talks still continue (if it does).

Block 4 is the one that being envisioned as the proper frontline fighter. If USAF feels that it is too expensive to upgrade those platforms to Block 4, there is no point in acquiring those platforms except if the acquirer intend to use those platforms solely during parade wkwkwkw

"Kontrak “Come Into Force” selanjutnya akan menjadi dasar menuju Kontrak Efektif setelah semua kesepakatan antara Indonesia dan Perancis tercapai dan Indonesia membayar uang muka pembelian 36 Rafale."
