Actually it does make sense since we going to operate Rafale which Im pretty sure will carry EU made missiles, it will make logistic easier isnt it? Eagle is meant to replace Sukhoi in the future, now if we look the missiles list of our Sukhoi it shows how they going to be use or their role in AU book. AShM, ARM, ASM, must be avaiable for the Eagle since we know the role wouldnt just be air supperiority. If we got denied using latest harpoon/AGM-88 HARM/LRASM/etc we gotta be sure we can install/integrate EU base missiles to replace the missing missiles type/role. We dont want our Eagle to only carry AMRAMM C & Maverick to fo her duty do we? 😁
Who said F15EX is to replace Sukhoi? F15EX is to create new squadron (previously 3 squadron of F16V, but if its like what forummerahputih said then it will be 4 squadron (Rafale and F15EX). F15EX doesn't need to have the capabilities what our flanker have, I think mostly will be for Air Superiority and strike (AMRAAM, AIM9, Maverick, JDAM) and I hope it can also carry Sari Bahari product. Rafale can be used for maritime strike mission. There is no need to integrate European missile on F15EX.
IMHO

In my personal opinion its not imposible to get F15 but for EX version i realy doubt it. But again i belive they (MoD) trying their best. Well its enugh from me , allow me to my comfort zone at Hura Percoyo Yen Hura Ono Photone regard

This is what I'm afraid of. They won't give us F-15EX and only let us have F-15SG (Singapore version).

Curiously, judging from Boeing official videos on both plane, they brand the F-15EX as a new plane while branding the Super Hornet block 3 as a major upgrade. I'm guessing Boeing real intention is offering the F-15EX for export market, while the Super Hornet block 3 is intended for USN, thus their use of "major upgrade" nomenclature to make it easier to sell to the USN & US Congress

It just a kind of marketing language

Nope, it's not marketing language. This F-15EX beast has 20,000 (20 THOUSANDS) flight hours life expectancy. No other single fighter, in all generations, no matter how advanced they are, even all of its predecessors, have this specification. So it is basically a new aircraft.

Just make sure to buy A LOT of AMRAAM, 9x2, and JDAM (mk82 and mk84 based), Maverick is kind of obsolete now. If you want to go a little further, K-TAURUS!

Those are pretty much what Sukhoi do right now.

And what MoD will do with 1.1 billion that doesn't get used?
How about buying some second hand ANG F16 block 52 to put on East area and retiring Hawk?

A Boeing spokeswoman could not confirm the planned purchase, but said “we remain confident in the F-15EX’s suitability for Indonesia, given its unmatched range, payload, and performance.” She did confirm, however, that all future sales of new F-15s will carry the designator F-15EX.

Are you saying that if we buy F15 what will we get is F15EX rasa F15SG?

They asked and negotiated for HARM, more JDAM, Paveway, SDB, LJDAM, and AGM 84H to be used along with that.

They want the weapon package basically including that

That is obviously an offensive weapon, are they gonna approve it?
So EX for wild weasel role huh?
They would just get some number of targeting pod and used them in turn
Isn't that something that we have enough to equipped all unit?

Depend on, targeting pod is not quite essentials for something like F15 EX, they already capable to do ground Attack mission as it is with their generic APG 82 but it would be great if each fighter during such mission being equipped with the right tools (LANTIRN) to increase their success Rates

Btw Qatari F 15 is template for F 15 EX programme though

How about the camo for F15EX and Rafale, standard camo or we will come up with our own camo, I hope we just use factory standard camo but maybe with little unique identifier to make it easy to differentiate with other F15 such as small red and white lines on the vertical stabilizer.

Looking at several posts in this thread, one could easily summarize that the amount of disdain along with no small amount of daydreaming toward the force of Freedom & Democracy is quite mesmerizing. And yet here we are talking about defending against the force of the northern communist❓ Might as well embracing socialism (which already started) along with learning to speak Mandarin as well.

HARM, LJDAM, and SLAM-ER do need for lobbying, particularly for HARM. However, I don't think the rest need extra lobbying

I have to disagree, type of aircraft choosen is base on the op-req (operational requirement) and Heavy fighter type is choosen by AU reflect the current munitions/ordinance/missiles our Sukhoi (specially SU30) currently have in their inventory thus by default this is how our future F15EX going to play her role. Rafale can do the job, but being medium fighter surely limit its capability. And to limit future Eagle just for Air supperiority and bombing is just foolish when she is capable to do more then what Rafale can. Air supperiority role fighter concept is dying, multi role is the new era. Eurofighter now have air to ground capability, F22 Raptor is retiring in 2030, Eagle is now playing bomb truck role more. Even F35 is now playing the "air supperiority" role in some countries. And Im sure in some air supperiority missions Rafale can shine more then Eagle due to its smaller size and lower RCS.

About the Maritime strike; Our Sukhoi were equipped base on what the role and threat couple of decades ago. And Im pretty sure the threat analyze didnt count much on Northen Dragon Frigate nor Destroyer backthen. Also the technology backthen limit the capability for a fighter to carry AShM due to its natural big/Heavy size. But it all has been changed now with the introduction of new Brahmos NG, Exocet, etc. Now Heavy fighter can carry it and still able to carry Air to Air missiles for protection. And we dont need F15EX for maverick, even our old Hawk can carry it 😁

Again, the strategy we are focusing now is going to be pushing for sea denial and the main objective of sea denial is to put the adversary fleet out of their missiles range (excluding ballistic) so fighter range count so much as they might be forced to fly very far and very low thus burn lots of fuel, this is where Eagle shine.

So with the acquisition of 15EX and Rafale it seems that the grand strategy AU chose will go towards multirole-capable with A2/AD functions it seems, basically an aircraft that can do everything through modifying its weapon suites to perform two or more functions in one sortie

If as such would the acquisition of Rafale be redundant since both are pretty much capable, we might as well drop the Rafale contracts and switch increasing the 15EX amount

I hope Rafale's acquisition will be for the replacement of F5 Tiger's function since we do lack long-range air superiority/interceptor focused platform, while also retaining their capability to perform ground support function
