What funnier is our T-50i cost $ 40mil per plane, imagine a 5th generation aircraft is cheaper than a jet trainer. :ROFLMAO::LOL:
It can still be cheaper if it can achieve the ultimate stealth that even the F-22 is incapable of:

But seriously, I wonder since I read that this new Russian fighter is developed for export. Will it also be used by VVS to replace their MiG-29? If that's the case, then they will go all Sukhois for both tactical and long range fighters. But if not, I doubt many nations will be interested in buying the fighter that the Russian won't use for themselves - just like what happened with the American F-20 Tigershark.

Now speaking about MiG, what happened to this company's project after its merger with UAC which Sukhoi is also a part of it?

Here is what we currently know: the new aircraft is a light, stealth-oriented, single-seat fifth-generation fighter that’s smaller and less specialized than the Su-57. Rostec head Sergey Chemezov added that the new plane will boast a top speed of 1,900 kilometers per hour, an operational range of around 3,000 kilometers, and a payload capacity of “over seven tons.”

Chemezov added that the new plane will have a per-model cost of around $25 to $30 million, which he says is the current market sweet spot between capabilities and affordability. “This is a light fifth-generation fighter. There are analogs [to this fighter] in the world. That is the F-35, Gripen, and Rafale. But we prioritized delivering an affordable and [cost-]effective fighter. Our price will be, I hope, around $25 to $30 million, while theirs is $60 to $90 million,” he said."



This is also intriguing.

"The manufacturers specified that the plane is scheduled to make its maiden flight in 2023 and to enter service by 2027."

It's a lot earlier than KFX.

MiG showed 3 new models of its manned and unmanned aircraft.

Indonesia seeks foreign lender for T-50 lead-in fighter trainer programme​

The Indonesian Ministry of Defense (MOD) has begun a search for foreign lenders to fund the acquisition of six additional T-50i Golden Eagle airframes for its lead-in fighter trainer (LIFT) programme.

An approval to obtain the foreign loan was approved by the country's finance ministry, after consulting with the Indonesian MOD and the Ministry of National Development Planning (Kementerian Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional: BAPPENAS).

A document provided to Janes by an industry source indicates that a limit of USD240 million has been set for this foreign loan allocation.

Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) disclosed in a financial regulatory filing on 16 July that it has secured a “contract” to supply the Indonesian Air Force (Tentara Nasional Indonesia – Angkatan Udara: TNI-AU) with the aircraft type.

The aircraft are meant to be deployed as intermediate jet trainers for cadet pilots transitioning from airscrew-propelled aircraft to type certification training for fighters.

However, Janes has since verified with the Indonesian MOD that the contract mentioned is preamble in nature and will only be in force once the initial payment is secured.

Additionally, Janes understands from a separate source at the MOD that this initial payment will be obtained via an allocation from Indonesia's 2022 defence budget, and it will be made out to KAI by the end of 2021. The remainder of the contract amount will be funded with proceeds from the foreign loan that is still being sourced.

I don't know how our Air Force organizes its curriculum, but looking from the ORBAT it looks like the bus drivers (Transport pilots) go from flying the Grob or the Marchetti straight into their assigned aircraft (235/295/130), don't know if the KT-1B is also being used as training or strictly for the Jupiter team only.

Propeller -> LIFT -> Fighter
Propeller -> transport, as co-pilot first (probably). For jet fighter there is no such thing as co-pilot like in commercial plane thus they need to rack exp from using LIFT.
Our T50 can also be used for bombing mission, not sure if its for all or some of it.

Ah yes, how can I forgot these models. I've already seen them yesterday but somehow I did not remember.

Anyway, I somehow doubt if the MiG "light multi function airplane" will see the light of day especially given that Sukhoi has already revealed a full size (mockup? prototype?) ahead of them. Also, with its more conventional 4-4,5th gen layout, it's probably a DoA project.

I'll be glad to be proven wrong, though.

Agree, their doctrine doesnt accomodate single engine fighter considering their vast area. Even their Yak130 LCA/LIFT is double engine. Idk how they going to make sure the buyer on the avaiability of spareparts if they dont use it them self. Typical Russia tho "yang penting gaya bisa bikin pesawat mirip F35", if you remember the same thing with Russia space shuttle back then, it ends after few test flights. Tho the test was "unmanned" which was super cool at that time.

Well they merge the company but not the "power" behind them still remain. Its complicated and not easy to understand, some said even Putin unable to short it out due to the possible corruption between oligarch, oknum aparat, and some mafioso. Mig was consolidated to build smaller air frame where Sukhoi was suppose to build larger one but it seems that is not the case anymore.

I wish we can gain something from their internal dispute to follow up on our aerospace program. Like buying their design formally or "informally" :LOL: Tho its going to require alot of hard cash which we dont have at this moment..... :sleep:

What about Indonesia?

But why would Indonesia want Su-35 of all other fighter jets.. KFX is gonna be introduced into service in around 2026 why burden yourself with that poor performance fighter jet like Su-35.. If Indonesia wanted to bolster it's fighter jet inventory than go for Rafale which IAF has already signed letter of intent for but in the main time skip Su-35 but if it is for good gesture than I guess you can drop could of billions on it to charm the russians but as deterence is doesn't really offer much.. The current Indonesia inventory is much better and su-35 will not provide an upgrade

Yup we shud go with Rafale+F-15EX combo.

Yah, any actual price has to be one that is actually signed and stuff transferred. Then to compare with other stuff, we need to look at what's included in weapons, commitments and so on.

Anyone can promise/project (early in dev/proto/LSP) its going to be X or Y to spur some extra initial interest in it. Means nothing in the end.

With Yak 130 (for BD), it is hard to analyse as the economy of scale was just 24 and that conflicts pressure wise with Ruble exchange rate taking real whack in the last decade (about 1/3rd value of what it was in 2000s decade relative to USD). The latter definitely would aid to some degree in "Cheap" final cost of any import from Russia now broadly but it would need negotiating/bargaining strength (with other suppliers) when it comes to low frequency big ticket items (like military assets) of course.

Large sustained order of Russian military planes has not come from anyone (like it once used to) especially in this relevant fashion to judge what is the current underlying "economy of scale" cost of the platforms on offer.
