Is it true Harimau MT cost $7 mil each?
2019 contract: US$ 20 mil for 18 units.
So around 1.1 mil each.
Nah its not that cheap, less than $7 mil. $6.75 mil, but I wonder the price for the other costumer (ToT excluded).

On 12 April the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in Jakarta signed a letter of intent (LOI) with PT Pindad for the procurement of up to 20 Kaplan MTs – known locally as the Harimau – for USD135 million, an MoD source told Jane’s on 18 April.

5 km away.
most of kill achieved within 2 km, good luck with that 5km stuff guiding a laser beam. it will be another case if you talk about Javelin or hellfire. humidity, temperature, curvature apply much effect on laser.

we have done this a lot, and please tell me, other than "taman savari baluran", rice field and firing range please show me the most places in Indonesia that didn't have vegetations within 1 or 2 km range ?!

the invention of halberd, didn't make cavalry obsolete nor the presence of ATGM render the useless of tanks. at first place. what I'm try to talk here is about doctrine how should the Infantry support the tank and the tank support the infantry.

beside it will be bizzare if Anti tank weapon cannot anti the tank.

Kaplan from this lot is different from prototype. is it possible this expensive price because of redesign, changing gearbox, etc ?

Do you think they'll be able to finish choosing SAM before 2024 election?

Not effective contract, just choosing.
My opinion, it should be done before 2024, atleast for defending IKN in Borneo. Let me a little bit off topic, back then when Madokafc said some rumout about Mindef Is choosing between land or naval SAM (aegis destroyer) platform. Maybe if Mindef cease the latter they would choose the land based SAM first.

Show me the $€£
Well yeah. That's why one of the point in this post:

Especially this part (in Indonesian):

Harapan ini tidak didapatkan dari pembelian Leopard 2, karena ToT yang diberikan hanyalah pemeliharaan dan perawatan kendaraan. Selain itu, tidak terdapat ToT suku cadang ataupun munisi yang signifikan di pembelian ini.

Made me facepalmed myself.

I mean, we only bought 103 refurbished Leopard 2 tanks that were put on sale with discounted price, that even after some of them were upgraded to 2RI standard, the whole package is still cheaper compared to other options back then.

Indonesia's share in the joint development cost of $30 million was $20 million

The cost of the contract for the Harimau tanks was $ 135 million. The number of vehicles ordered was not officially disclosed, but, according to the head of the defense division PT Pindad Vijayanto, is 18-20 tanks (the final number must also be determined depending on the cost of equipment). PT Pindad of the Indonesian Army should be supplied within three years.

That places the costs (excluding the development costs) at around $7-8 million a piece - IMO a ridiculous price (maybe someone got his private pockets in that deal)

I have posted it before, I will post it here again. Such a price is not uncommon for a new "light" tank whose producer can't make all the equipment and part in-house. The turret itself may have cost about 3-4 million USD.

From this video, I noted that Badak costed 45 billion IDR, or 3.17 million USD per unit. Back in 2014 the cost is projected about 25 billion USD per vehicle or 2.18 million USD adjusted for inflation.
Hanwha Tarantula is about 3.95 million USD after adjusted for inflation.

It is also said that the civilian version of Komodo (?) is 15 billion IDR, or 1.05 million USD

I also noted (not from this video) that Sabrah light tank ordered by Philippines from Israel costed about 8.6 million USD each, assuming that they're only ordered 20 vehicle in the first batch which costed 172 million USD. Pindad Harimau is about 7 million USD.

Update on this: It looks like they also included 10 units Pandur with 105 mm gun (similar to Pindad Cobra but with Israel cannon and Hitfact turret) in their first batch. If we assume it has the same price as our Cobra, it will be about 36 million USD in cost. So 172-36 = 136 million USD for 20 Sabrah light tanks (6.8 million USD per tank).

If we use Philippines gov website as the reference, the contract is valued at 183 million USD, that means 183-36 = 147 million USD for 20 Sabrah light tanks (7.3 million USD per tank).

From my post here
and my post here

Borsuk IFV is about 6.6 million USD, half of it was the price of the turret

At the front, look at the 4th photo of the tweet above. It has longer frontal slope than Kaplan MT/Harimau, and it also placed their driver at the left of the engine.

doesn't make sense, the problem is the number not the product
why they trying to buy a different one then?
I would assume that Indonesia is plagued by the same issues as e.g. Malaysia, Philippines and some other S.E.A. countries.
There is no adequate White-Book - something that designs a strategy and would accordingly lead to the appropriate purchase of weapon systems. A White book
essentially also incooperates the business model of G2G. And Government to manufacturer.

Instead circles around and inside the government and military institutions are running so called defense consultant companies - The big players are holding certain "exclusivity" contracts with the respective weapon manufacturers. then there are the small players - trying to bring in non-contractual bound parties with whatever weapon-system these manufactures provide, in order to make their own $.

The government is off course aware about these circumstances and in order to avoid "tensions" between the owners (influential people) amongst these various defense contractors - usually will attribute "smaller budget shares" towards these companies - hence this "assortment/array" of weapon systems and small numbers.

The ones who suffer from this the most are the taxpayers and those members of the Armed Forces that actually try to perform in the interest of their countries defense capability.

If my assumption/statement should be wrong, please don't hesitate to correct me.

the same price for leopard 2A7 & 7 Bayraktar TB2, is that the price for independence or is there a kickback?
