High demand from several countries and an increase in exports of Indonesia’s key commodities had a great impact on export performance in March this year, BPS chief Suhariyanto said during an online press conference in Jakarta on Thursday.

Data provided by the BPS shows the value of Indonesia’s exports in March, 2021 reflected an increase of 20.31 percent compared with February, 2021 and 30.47 percent compared with March, 2020.

“So, the growth has been very encouraging since it rose month-on-month and year-on-year,” the BPS chief said.

Exports rose 20.30 percent month-on-month, fueled by an increase in the export of oil/gas and non-oil/non-gas commodities. Non-oil/non-gas exports alone rose 21.21 percent.

On a yearly basis, Indonesia’s exports surged by an impressive 30.47 percent, driven by a 38.67-percent rise in the export of oil and gas commodities and a 30.07 percent growth in the export of non-oil/non-gas commodities, Suhariyanto disclosed.

Positive export growth was recorded in all sectors, including oil and gas, agriculture, manufacturing, and mining. On a monthly basis, the oil and gas sector grew 5.28 percent, agriculture rose 27.06 percent, manufacturing increased 22.37 percent, and mining and other activities rose 13.68 percent.

Exports also showed a positive year-on-year growth, with the oil and gas sector growing 38.67 percent, agriculture rising 25.04 percent, manufacturing increasing 33.45 percent, and mining and others rising 11.95 percent. (INE)

China ready to invest US$1.38 billion in Indonesia: envoy

China ready to invest US$1.38 billion in Indonesia: envoy

Pontianak, W Kalimantan (ANTARA) - China has confirmed plans to invest US$1.38 billion in Indonesia, especially West Kalimantan, Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia, Djauhari Oratmangun, informed on Friday.

"So far, China has invested much in West Kalimantan. This year, (Chinese) investors plan to invest in Indonesia, particularly in West Kalimantan and Batang district, Central Java. The value of investments in the furniture industry will reach US$1.38 billion," he disclosed at an international webinar on China-West Kalimantan's economic potential.

A Chinese business delegation is scheduled to visit West Kalimantan and Central Java in April or May, 2021, he said.

"Surely, the investment will offer a chance for the regions to advance and build trade cooperation (with China)," he remarked.

West Kalimantan currently accounts for 10.13 percent of Indonesia's exports to China, he pointed out.

"Interestingly, Indonesia’s exports (to China have) increased, with West Kalimantan contributing a significant 10.13 percent (of the total exports to China). With the increase, we have been able to reduce problems related to Indonesia-China trade," he added.

Indonesia ranks fourth among ASEAN member states exporting to China, he said.

"During the pandemic, Indonesia-China relations remained good. Chinese investment in Indonesia reached US$4.8 billion in 2020," he noted.

Indonesia's exports to China also rose 15 percent in 2020 compared to a year earlier, he said.

"Last year, Indonesia recorded a 15-percent increase (in its exports to China). (The export of) key commodities rose, with iron and steel exports swelling 136.52 percent, paper and paperboard jumping 133.25 percent, and tin and products skyrocketing 544.07 percent," he added.

The total trade between the two countries topped US$78.48 billion during the period, he said.

Indonesia is world's largest biodiesel producer: Hartarto

26th Apr 2021 17:48
Indonesia is world's largest biodiesel producer: Hartarto

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia is globally the largest producer of biodiesel, with daily output touching 137 thousand barrels, which is much higher compared to the United States, Brazil, and Germany, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said.

"Indonesia is the largest biodiesel producer in the world, with a capacity of 137 thousand barrels of oil per day. Meanwhile, the United States (is next) with 112 thousand barrels, Brazil with 99 thousand barrels, and Germany with 62 thousand barrels of oil per day," the minister disclosed at an online discussion originating from Jakarta on Monday.

This success has positioned Indonesia as a country to be reckoned with in the world biodiesel market, he said.

Biodiesel is a biofuel comprising a mixture of methyl ester compounds of long-chain fatty acids, and is used as an alternative fuel in diesel engines.

Indonesia uses crude palm oil, or CPO, as the main raw material for producing biodiesel. It chose palm oil because its cultivators are well-established considering Indonesia's position as the second largest producer of palm oil in the world, Hartarto said.

Scientists are mixing 30 percent of palm oil into diesel oil to make B30, which is being used to increase national energy security and independence, increase the added value of the palm oil industry, reduce consumption of imported fuel oil, and cut greenhouse gas emissions, the minister added.

"In the framework of climate change, Indonesia is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 29 percent from business as usual, and 41 percent with international assistance by 2030," he reiterated.

Indonesia has been producing biodiesel for quite some time. In 2008, the country’s commercial biodiesel production reached 630 thousand kiloliters, with consumption pegged at 23 thousand kiloliters. Most of the production at the time was export-oriented.

Every year, Indonesia’s biodiesel production rate has experienced positive growth — with output surging 300 percent to 8.5 million kiloliters in 2020 from 3 million kiloliters in 2016.

President director of the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP-KS), Eddy Abdurrachman, said the increase in the market index price for palm oil from time to time has resulted in the rise in the price of biodiesel, which tends to be more expensive than diesel.

"The price of CPO is increasing, while CPO is the main fuel for biodiesel, which causes the price of biodiesel to be relatively high compared to the price of diesel," Abdurrachman elaborated.

According to government projections, additional incentives for the mandatory biodiesel program this year will reach Rp46 trillion, in line with the huge gap between crude oil and palm oil prices. (INE)

Indonesia, Uzbekistan explore investment in fertilizer industry

24th May 2021 13:11
Indonesia, Uzbekistan explore investment in fertilizer industry

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia and Uzbekistan are exploring prospects to bolster economic cooperation, including investment in the fertilizer industry, according to the Industry Ministry.

"We encourage collaboration between Indonesia’s and Uzbekistan’s industrial players, for instance, in the fertilizer industry sector. This effort is expected to boost competitiveness," the ministry's Director General of Chemical, Pharmaceutical, and Textile Industry (IKFT), Muhammad Khayam, stated here on Monday.

The ministry recently sent a trade mission, accompanied by Deputy House Speaker Rachmat Gobel, concurrently a prominent businessman, along with several other legislators to Uzbekistan.

"There are opportunities for broader economic cooperation between Indonesia and Uzbekistan for spurring trade balance between the two countries," he affirmed.

Uzbekistan, located in Central Asia, is a strategic trade partner of Indonesia, and it has been experiencing rapid economic progress, Khayam stated.

The Indonesian delegation spotted an opportunity for Uzbekistan to supply raw materials, such as potassium chloride (KCl), required for the fertilizer industry.

Indonesia is not a KCl producer country and has, so far, imported it from Russia, Canada, and Laos.

KCl is additionally used as an auxiliary material in the food, beverage, and medical industries.

"In future, we can import this material from Uzbekistan or we are strive to attract their investment to Indonesia," he remarked.

The Samarkand NPK plant in Uzbekistan has an annual capacity of 250 thousand tons. All NPK raw materials come from local sources, with gas in Uzbekistan priced at around US$2.2 per MMBTU.

"In addition, there is the Uz-Potash (KCl industry), with a capacity of 600 thousand tons," Khayam pointed out.

KCl from Uzbekistan has been recognized by the fertilizer industry in Indonesia, such as PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), and PT Sentana Adidaya Pratama.

Rachmat Gobel, concurrently the House of Representatives’ (DPR’s) deputy chairman in charge as the coordinator for Industry and Development (Korinbang), pointed to opportunities to establish cooperation in the agro-industry sector.

There is demand for tropical fruits, including bananas, dragon fruit, avocado, and coffee, in Uzbekistan for the consumption of its citizens and to support its industry, he remarked.

"Hence, I want to encourage sister city cooperation between cities in Uzbekistan and regions in Indonesia that produce tropical fruits," he stated.

Gobel cited as an example that Lumajang District in East Java Province, which is a banana-producing region, could look for a district or city in Uzbekistan to establish twin city cooperation.

"Regions and other cities that produce dragon fruit and coffee can also do the same," he remarked.

I had a mix of vomiting 🤮 (muntah) + laughing 🤪 reading this

Meaning, Zyrex will be bidding gov't education project with their infamous subpar products at mid-high range price range. Proudly stamped with "Karya Anak Bangsa". Example offering laptop with Intel N5100 at the same price of that powered by Intel i3 of the same generation. Or if they playing it smooth, they use 8th generation Intel i3 but selling it at the same price of the 11th Gen Intel i3

You know this "Karya Anak Bangsa" gimmick kinda worrisome at many case and level, without clear cut how much percentage of local content produced in Indonesia and also included the working hourse of the worker or not as percentage of local content can be categorized as Made In Indonesia, many layman person would be trapped by this kind of semantic

Oh I've seen this one. If lucky those computers are rusting in some corner of the school/institution.

If not lucky maybe they sell it (well for this I don't know, I have never seen they sell one, so don't take this one as factual).
