We're talking about France here. They are present in the Indo-Pacific region via its overseas territories (New Caledonia, Polynesia, Mayotte, etc) and 93% of its EEZ is located in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. The region is also home to about 1.5 mil French people, as well as 8000 soldiers stationed in the region.

The statement specifically talk about European Union Indo-Pacific strategy.

Yeah, at the very least we should be thankful that nobody in our navy's high command is crazy enough to call our naval ships as "combat raft" or "getek tempur". :eek:
well, i just hope they call them all PKR, simplicity and minimize cringe Youtubers thumbnails.

Its only a nomenclature, but when the time to show off arrive. I believe it will be a proud to have Destroyer Sized Frigates 🤣

Hmm, anti-submarine missile? Wonder how it works. Is it kinda similar in principle with RBU-6000 in our parchim albeit guided one?

Anyway, this was the first result I got when I googled MILAS:

Hmm, so then IDNavy FREMM will be ASW variants ?

I just thought it will be new improved bergamini class with additional VLS and censor, when it comes to ASW gladly it will be fitted with VDS + towwed sonar, and instead of 2x4 AShM, she will configured to carry 2x2 Anti Submarine Missile and 2x2 AShM, while equipped with 2x strales.

No CIWS or Strales already considered as CIWS ? 🤔

AH140 -> AAW
FREMM -> ASW
Does 30FFM still have chance?

we don't know what 30ffm variants we're going to choose yet.
it could be
AH140 => GPF
FREMM => ASW
30FFM => AAW (if we choose the variants below).

or 30FFM and AH140 role changed the other way around.

it would be weird if we had 2 ASW baseline frigate...

actually, the differences between FREMM ASW and GP are the use of VDS, torpedo countermeasure, Anti Sub Missile, and 127 mm main gun. Both ship general characteristic are simmilar.

If we still put 30FFM on consideration, why didn't we take improved PKR as consideration too. Is it not legit anymore?

FREMM ASW is already a GP frigate, the ASW here means there are extra emphasis on ASW mission, such as the addition of CAPTAS
