Correct me if i am wrong too, wasn't the ship already delivered to the navy and was going through fitting of the some systems? Or was it just 'launched' and pulled to dock for fitting?

From what i understand you imply the first material was supplied by imports, and we know swedish contribution on the material and structural design, manufacturing parts
Swedish who mastered composite manufacturing of large hulls in the beginning of 2000 has messed it up in Indonesia? And delays on the second hull is not related to bureucratics (insurance, inspection, court ruling) and budget allocation? There are thousands page long documents on the incident, if it was just related to the material it wouldn't be this long i think.

After all, the ship has passed class society's approval, so is the material formulation and manufacturing technique. I am dropping a few documents for people who is interested in the subject further. One of them is related to the material used on Visby class, a true combat ship.

If someone is further interested they can have a look at the DNV-GL HSLC Patrol rules, spefically the material section and how many stages needed for material to pass for application.

Many in the top level actually doesn't give support or a go for this kind of ship though, they are more contended with conventional design with conventional steel material and conventional engine as like other warships in Indonesia Navy fleets in which simplify the logistic and maintenance support.

This one already got funding from years ago so they let it.

I believe there is no weapon system yet in this vessel

I dont know first material whether import or no, but what I want to stress is that they say there will be research going on to make the material get more heat tolerance, so not easily get burned.

The company is first established in Sweden, but then move to Indonesia as Jhon Lundin also marry Indonesian lady.

It means FNSS should seriously to set up their office in Indonesia including maintenance house for their products in the region (which already included Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines)
Well, with Czech's Excalibur Army has invested to build their manufacturing facility here, more will be interested to come if the Indonesian business climate including the bureaucracy, corruptions, err sorry, "iuran" and all other related brouhaha have improved considerably.

Man, I can't believe you're still salty about that. Or is it? 😝

Now the thing about the long time they took to build a replacement, was it due to their fault only, or whether other factors especially from the upper ranks have also played significant parts? So which was it?

Or when some of our journalists, especially those who are "too creative for their own good" are working for the US armed forces.

will we stand, or lay down like Vietnam ?
I think the pattern is getting clearer by the day now. For the time being, we will play down incidents like this diplomatically while keep pushing our defense modernization programs and training with you know who.

The other, you know who, will keep prodding and infringing on our EEZ in the meantime. They can't risk losing face in the eyes of their own subjects at home, who they have nurtured for decades to become such aggressive and ultranationalistic bunch.

Those frigate and submarine really take too long to build after all.
Does the quad(military alliance) if happens will give any negative effect for Indonesia?

In Europe there is NATO with a bunch of major power allied together just to counter Russia, meanwhile in the pacific there is no such framework to counter the new big bully.

Btw Soviet Union have been dissolved yet NATO still remain and even getting bigger and creeping closer towards Russia its like they try to harass Russia, Russia is also quite a bully with what they did in Georgia and Ukraine. Humans.

Anyway, about surface combatant, usually how long it will take to "refurbish" maestrale class ?
Honestly, I'm not the right person to answer since I believe @Anmdt and some others are far more knowledgeable about this.

Anyway, I'm assuming that it can take anywhere between six months to one or two years depending on the availability of the dry dock, starting condition of the ship to be refurbished, as well as the amount of equipment to be replaced. It could be less if all those things are still considered good enough and there are no need to make major modifications.

True. But the messages have already being heard loud and clear, especially after we're being offered the Mogami.
Of course, the bully won't ever admit that they're the ones who pushed us too much and made us lean to another side more.

If by "negative effect" means the bully will be more aggressive in sending their coast guards, 'research ships' up to destroyers to our EEZ, then probably yes. We will also see them increasing their misinformation efforts to our domestic audience.

All countries always need reasons and adversaries to justify their defense spending, no? The stronger those countries are, the more unbearable they become for "the other side".

As for us, if we somehow can regain our "old glory" as the country with the strongest and most modern military in the region, we'll be drawing flaks from all other countries around us if we still remain firmly with our "free and active" doctrine. Then it's a matter of whether we choose to be a new bully on the block ourselves, or we use our power the way it's supposed to be used according to our constitution.

How about the negative effects from the quad itself towards us, can quad be used to threaten us or against our national interest? How should we act about the quad, accept and support its creation or against it.
