Frenchi lately got bitter and histerical, after they lost opportunity in Indonesia (Italian FREMM debut worth five Billion US Dollar) , now they are looking their old good rival the UK with their cousin country US grab the Australian Submarine Mega deal (well Australian is UK and US protege in the first place) now the Indonesian again put salt on the wound with latest contract of Babcock arrowhead 140 design.

To be honest, the French Scorpene is not giving much edge toward our competitor in the region (well our aim should be Australian and China) , if we can get something like Soryu class then it would be better. Or else going up toward Baracuda SSN is more better. (Though i don't think we are ready for SSN considered our maintenance culture)

Riachuelo class like sub (maybe with AIP) or Soryu class is enough for now. I'm still waiting for that USD$ 600 million used Sub.

Well, err, nganu, duhh......

EVEN WITH CURRENT SUBMARINE FLEET, INDONESIAN CAPABILITY TO MAINTENANCE SUBMARINE STILL A BIG RED QUESTION MARK.

or even worst, we couldn't afford to pay operational cost. *flies away

When will the construction start? Does 4 years is enough to build 2 of these ship (excluding fitting out), so the dock can be used to build FREMM.
Busy busy busy

“We are facing a dilemma. If we deploy warships, it will be seen as aggressive, but (the non-military) Bakamla doesn’t have many large ships,” he said.

Pfft... so its okay for them to send their warship and be aggressive in the area that legally is not theirs but they claimed as theirs anyway because they have been sailing there in the past? Why we act like a thieves in our own house.

this is crunch

Construction for AH140? they said it will be built in Indonesia under license, that means we will be constructing it from ground zero because it's a new design, it will took much longer time for us, considering Italian and French Fremm built by their own shipbuilder took about 3 years for each ship, i don't think we will handle AH140 that fast, even our first KRI R.E.M took about 3,5 years to complete

*i just noticed the layout of def hub has updated

I think they canceled it. Proven design win.
Iver huitfeldt is also a proven design, that is also claim of team31 / babcock while they present arrowhead design
'based on a proven design'.

Stretch version from PAL isn't.

Neither Arrowhead design is proven in these terms, nor sailing yet and it is not Type31.

PAL was not going to do anything with IH as claimed by some people, it was the same thing as in the AH deal, 'OMT (now babcock) going to provide necessary assistance (in other words, going to redesign it for Indonesia by receiving the needs) to redesign it according to the needs'

Nothing has changed from 2 years ago, find the articles from back then, replace OMT with Babcock, IH with AH and bingo the same in the context.

I think whomever is managing these projects should investigate the root of the problem so that it won't keep repeating.

Yes a certain group of people here (in Indo) did not believe that any high intensity/conventional conflict would occur in the future~

Thus we don't need to modernise our military~
the sad thing is, when the budget did materialize we all know what happen to the budget right? majority went to the personal pocket of those in charge and the acquisition is based not on the required capability to deter potential foes, but which makelar have better connection and provide better dakom.

that, combined with the appalling failure from our diplomat to interpret the geopolitical reality (with the toothless "bebas aktif" policy) makes us getting cucked all over

yep that is a big red question that also need to be rectified if we really want to improve our sub force. they can start by having the navy chief of staff and related admirals resign first as a sign that they acknowledge the failure. as long as it is still business as usual, i don't expect any improvement will come soon
