I think the point is Lithium-ion posibility vs proven AIP here.

Does Navy has AIP supporting facilities?
Do we want to spend money on it?

The most obvious one is they never launch their black shark torpedoes until now. That is a huge red flag.
This is wrong 403 has fired Black Shark torpedo a few years ago.

NG offer is more promising I guess, With RDTE of lithium-ion, Indonesian capability & knowledge of submarine development will be further advanced.

Anyway ASW assets needs to expanded greatly. We can't stop submarines engaged in innocent passage yes, but we should have prepare and be ready to blow up every submarines from both sides when it suits our interests.

Don't fall for a fancy article written from a single perspective.
UNCLOS is not the only regulation, there are others that Indonesia may rely on to block nuclear-powered subs from transiting, MARPOL - related to the marine pollution, Indonesia may also apply some sensitive areas within sovereign waters to prevent these nuclear subs from entering, COLREG - requires any vessel to comply with collision avoidance measures especially within sovereign waters - this clearly prevents any submarine from sailing in submerged condition while transiting sovereign waters.

Blowing up submarines require more political power than imposing regulations on sovereign waters.

We should made it clear that if there is any sunken nuclear powered/armed submarine in Indonesian waters it should be lifted and retrieved from the seabed and moved to other country, if the owner of the submarine refuses then we can approach their rival country.
I don't care if they say that there is already mechanism on board that will prevent the radio active materials leaks, it should be removed.

sea water is a good radioactive material shielding, USS Thresher and K-8 are still there somewhere deep in the atlantic, yet no party wanted to retrieve it because it does not worth it...

If the involved country said that then we can say, Its MY territory and My rules. You don't want to retrieve it then let me contact your rival.
If its a Chinese sub and they don't want to retrieve it then it will be another project Azorian for the US.
And if its AUKUS submarine that is sunk, I think china will be interested to learn something from it and make the KW version, after all IMO their submarine is still inferior compared to their western counterpart.

In the video the guy is kinda suggesting that TKMS would also build two subs (one at their site, one at PT PAL).

It should be super u214, if it priced at 1 bil each. On the pros ALRI could get 2 sub at once.
