The Doen Waterjet installation
1730815777746.jpeg

Earlier this month, PT Palindo Marine successfully installed a DOEN DJ450B-DT (booster) waterjet onto the 68m attack craft (KCR 60), which it is constructing for the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL).

The waterjet was supplied with a hull-matching steel intake tunnel, tailored and fully machined, providing a hassle-free installation.

DJ450B-DT utilises our unique Direct Thrust shaftline. In this arrangement, the shaft directly thrusts to the gearbox. This variant provides upfront cost savings, allows for a more compact installation, and pays ongoing dividends through simple and cost-effective running and maintenance.

This KCR 60 is due to be launched in 2025. Watch this space!

Super PPA/ PPA Evo, with 64 cells

Euronaval 2024: Fincantieri presents the Super-PPA, or PPA EVO
05/11/2024 | Eugenio Po
After the FREMM EVO comes the PPA EVO, a further updated version of the PPA.

It is a ship that, while maintaining the hull and general configuration of the PPA, introduces further upgrades in terms of modularity and adds new capabilities. In this regard, the PPA EVO will have new capabilities in the management of drones (UAV, USV and UUV), but also an enhancement in the available armament.

The PPA EVO, for example, will be able to receive up to 8 SYLVER 8-cell modules, 4 modules at the bow (32 cells) and 4 modules amidships (32 modules), for a total of up to 64 VLS cells (not only of the SYLVER A50 type but also of the A70 type, therefore potentially with the capacity to use the MdCN). The MM should introduce 2 PPA EVO to replace the 2 ships sold to Indonesia.

In the long term, however, the Navy's intention is to have 4 PPAs in the Full configuration (we believe that the 2 new EVO PPAs can be counted among the Full PPAs: Editor's note) and 3 in the Light+ version.

The article believes that Italian Navy will buy PPA Evo as replacement of light+ PPA that being sold to Indonesia.

Tais license LPC 65 aka KCR 60 with 68 meters length, Palindo made progress

It is confusing but as it appears TAIS has customized LPC 65 with a booster waterjet and this makes the ship in the same propulsion style as MEKO WARP. It has both propellers and a booster waterjet for attaining high speed.

It is definitely not FPB-68 design of TAIS ,that we have discussed earlier, It is LPC-65 (slightly expanded). I was wondering how they may use DOEN on FPB68 design since FPB68 has LM2500 and DOEN doesn't have a waterjet booster in the class that supports such an input power. Only MJP and RR supports such high input power.

So, Its new kind of mix?

Doen WaterJets is supplying a DJ450B-DT waterjet (impeller dia. 1145mm) to PT Palindo Marine, which is commissioned by the MOD to design and construct the new generation 68m fast attack craft for the Navy (TNI Al). The equipment, configured as a booster jet will be coupled to MAN Energy Solutions' 20V175D-ML diesel, rated at 4400kW.

Similar to this but without the gas turbine. Instead, they use a separate diesel engine to drive the booster waterjet.

So i was mistaken to assume that 68 meters FAC as FPB68, while it is referring to LPC65 (extended version). There is only single project running in Palindo, by TAIS.

Since DOEN refers to the waterjet as DT - Booster, it is not steerable, and we do not see steering WJ in the images that only leads to propeller + rudder set on the sides. Hull form also suggests this.

FACM70, however, is a fully WJ equipped design.

How could this be deduced from the video?

Radars are customised according to the client's requirements, regardless of the CMS provider.
