Anyone here thinks that the Navy should get rid of all PC-40/PC-36m patrol boats or smaller and focused only in ships with tonnage of 1000 tons above?
KCR series can be get rid of, and transferred to bakamla without any missiles but only cannon. (even skeptical if Bakamla should receiver an expensive Bofors 57)

Instead they should focus on that OPV to begin with and then introduce in two sizes, one for low maintenance -low cost patrol ship to cover littoral waters and one more for medium maintenance, medium/low cost patrol ship to cover the grey areas between littoral and blue waters

FFM 30 about 8 units is enough?

Poseidon P 8 and fleets of S70 B maybe enough
Mogami is a multi-mission frigate right??
well honestly i was expecting something dedicated, something like Type 22 or Admiral Gorshkov

about the Poseidon P 8 and fleets of S70 B, i don't see any news about it

most of them are AAW or Multipurpose (AAW & ASuW) platform

any plans for a dedicated ASW warfare???
there is not much specialist ship on the market, most of them are multirole or modification (development) from AAW / multirole into ASW ship.

type 26 one of them that i can think of who are designed as pure ASW (at least uk one) or french fremm.

most navy post cold war started shift their focus more into AAW than ASW, that's why most ship design in post 2000 are AAW / GP ship than ASW, only the last few year we see a resurgence of ASW ship.

The lowest size in Main Fleets command would be KCR 60 type series. Less than that would be put into patrol purpose vessels of Navy second tier Naval base

Then they would be focused on OPV type warships for routine long endurance patrol task. Mainstrike combatant warships is the newly acquire vessels such as FREMM and Iver Huitveld class escorted by the ASW Corvettes, light Frigate and such.

As much as I like the hype of current procurement, I don't think the Navy has enough cash to properly maintain those ships while at the same time having to look at a huge fleet of patrol boats.

Navy should be lean and mean. While Bakamla should be better for constabulary jobs.
Yep I agree with the idea of divesting smaller PC, not much of a use in our ocean going environment and adversary profile anyway

Indonesia should just develop ballistic missiles tbh.

I totally agree, missile and rocket have the highest Return on Investment (or Deterrent on Investment?) for any country trying to catching up the big boys game.

With $10 billion we can develop series of nuclear ballistic missile. I believe North Korea invest less than that to develop Hwasong series (ICBM) and Pukguksong (Submarine launched, SLBM).
Here, drink more of this. It's very good (y)

Naah i kind of dissagree with this, PC40 (and it's series) are considered still young for its age, i'd rather to keep it, especially the PC40 series, the rest of diversed old ship and boat should be retired (SOON!)

The best thing navy can do is simplified type and classes of ships and boats, too diversed can be a real disaster to maintaining it

You see the PC40 class really works well in near shore water, agile enough to chase a pirate, or to seek and help fisherman in trouble, big enough to accomodate a decent number of person, and small enough to carry an aid mission to remote shore areas

Shouldn't this be Bakamla job?

2020-2024 programme had already set 20 Billion US Dollar budget loan, that's actually enough to provide funding for many major program already being announced like Fremm 4,9 Billion US Dollar, Rafale around six to seven Billion US Dollar, MRTT around 0,7 Billion US Dollar, that's still fucking eight Billion US Dollar left for shopping spree. And now not to mention the government willing to give more leeway beside those already set loan budget for MoD to be spent to acquire many critical technology and weapon system.

And why government willing to spend more beside those 20 Billion US Dollar of MEF III loan budget, that's because this admin actually had left many homework from previous MoD who failed to utilized MEF phase 2 budget so greatly. And there is several failed or delayed Mef phase 2 program like military satelite, Fighter acquisition program, LIFT acquisition program, modernization of T/A50 i , Submarine, Frigates, tracked IFV for army, armor for Marine and so on.
Ok hang on, I wasn't paying attention.

I'm a big stupid when it comes to this kind of thing so I might need further explanation;

Is this 20B USD a part of the 125 Billion loan, the approved amount of that 125 Billion, or a different funding entirely?
