Surabaya, Indonesia, 23 November 2021 – On Sunday November 21, Terma hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially mark the opening of their office in Surabaya, Indonesia. The opening marks a continued effort for Terma to be close to their customers. Surabaya is Terma’s second office in Indonesia after the opening in Jakarta in 2020. The Asia Pacific region now counts four offices: Singapore (regional headquarter), New Delhi, India, and Jakarta and Surabaya in Indonesia.

The event took place as part of the official program for Denmark’s Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, H.E. Jeppe Kofod, who is on an official visit to Indonesia where he will be meeting with several Indonesian Ministers and the Secretary General of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Joining him on the trip is a high-level delegation consisting of Danish authorities, business leaders, and media representatives.

“We decided to open the Surabaya office, because we want to make sure we have a dedicated local presence to support execution of the programs we win, in a timely manner and with unique customer focus” says Steen M. Lynenskjold, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Terma A/S.

Terma’s high-tech solutions are operated on all theaters of operations (air, land, and sea) by Indonesian customers, including the Coast Guard (BAKAMLA), the Sea and Coast Guard (KPLP), the Directorate General of Sea Transportation (DGST), the Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL), the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU), and Jakarta International Airport. In 2019, Terma was awarded a contract for the supply of complete C-Flex command and control system suites for four 60-meter fast attack craft (KCR-60). Most recently, the SCANTER radars have been selected to equip non-combatant vessels such as the Hospital Assistance Ships (BRS).

The KCR-60 ships are being built by the Indonesian shipyard PT PAL, which was among the sites visited by the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Over the years, Terma has developed a strong partnership with PT PAL and has delivered naval radars as well as command and control systems for ships being built by PT PAL.

There are many similarities in the maritime surveillance needs of Indonesia and Denmark with technical requirements often being comparable. Both countries have vast territorial waters to control, and with more than 50,000 km, the coastline of the Kingdom of Denmark (incl. Greenland) is almost the same as that of Indonesia.

”Through strong partnerships with local companies and ambitious Transfer-of-Technology plans, Terma aims at further addressing the local market while developing local skills and empowering Indonesian companies with value-added activities,” says Muhammad Arif, General Manager, PT Terma Technologies Indonesia.

PT Terma Technologies Indonesia employs local workforce in an effort to develop sustainable presence and transfer value-adding skills.

Defence Minister Interest on Motor E-Tactical made by LEN

The E-Tactical electric trail bike developed by PT Len Industri (Persero) began to be exhibited at the 2021 Indonesia Electric Motor Show (IEMS).

Unlike other electric dirt bikes currently available, the E-Tactical will target the military. The off-road motorbike can be used as an operational motorbike and even a special operation vehicle.

Dendy Ariadiputra, public relations officer for PT Len Industri (Persero) said that recently the Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto, had seen firsthand and was interested in E-Tactical.

Dendy said, Prabowo conveyed this interest when he visited the head office of PT Len Industri in the context of a direct review of one of the Defense Industry SOEs (Indhan) in Bandung (1/11/21).

"Yesterday he said this, because there is no sound, so this will be called the Silent Team, he said that I heard," said Dendy who was met by Kompas.com, at Puspitek, Serpong, Friday (27/11/2021).

Harry Hindarsyah, Marketing of PT Len Industri said, currently E-Tactical is still in prototype form. However, in the near future the plan will begin mass production.

If it goes according to plan, he said that his party is ready to produce enough E-Tactical units to meet military demands.

Harry said that production would start at the earliest after the second month of 2022, looking at the policy later. Production will be carried out at Len's factory in Subang.

“Len has a factory in Subang, his name is Len Technopark, maybe there will be. There is also production in Bandung," said Harry.

PAL Collaborates with Bofors in Strategic Cooperation with MRO Cannon Combat Ship

4-840x493.jpg

PT PAL Indonesia (Persero) has officially become a global partner of BAE Systems Bofors AB (Bofors) in the maintenance and repair (MRO) of ship weapons.

The signing of the cooperation agreement regarding the Naval Gun System 57mm and 40mm weapons with Bofors was carried out at the Company Information Center Building (PIP) PT PAL Indonesia (Persero) by Willgo Zainar Chief of Marketing (CMO) with Nils-Ove Gustafsson Head of Regional Sales Bofors. The event was also attended by Laksda Catur Sudarsono SEVP, as well as related General Managers.

Bofors is a company that produces weapons systems (defense equipment) registered in Sweden. Founded in 1873, Bofors is now one of the largest arms companies in the world, and is an active Global Supply Chain partner in PAL products.

With the signing of this cooperation agreement, it is the implementation of PAL's human resources capabilities that are capable in every field, and are supported by qualified equipment facilities. The Indonesian Ministry of Defense has entrusted PAL, which for decades has succeeded in conducting MRO on combatant ships. With this track record, PAL is trusted to carry out MRO MRO Naval Gun System Bofors 37 weapons system units installed on Indonesian Navy combat ships.

PAL will invest in additional facilities at the weapons workshop, including power sources, lifting tools, and special equipment. At the moment of this collaboration, there will also be a Transfer of Knowledge in HR with Bofors, this is an implementation of quality improvement with global standards. The cooperation agreement is a form of PAL's strategic role in the national shipping world.

The reason is, with PAL being a strategic partner in the maintenance and repair of the Bofors weapon system, it can provide time efficiency that previously MRO weapons systems that are often used by Indonesian Navy combatants must be carried out abroad, so it must take quite a long time in terms of shipping and other international bureaucracy. .(iss/ipg)

The Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia Holds a Working Visit to the Czech Republic
Thursday, December 2, 2021

Czech - Deputy Minister of Defense (Wamenhan) M Herindra carried out a working visit to the Czechoslovak Group (CSG) Aerospace in Pardubice City, Czech Republic to explore defense industry cooperation on Tuesday (30/11).

On that occasion, CSG Aerospace explained various kinds of modern defense equipment technology as a result of their research and development, with the hope that in the future the Indonesian defense industry can be involved in the Transfer of Technology (ToT) program, especially radar technology.

Wamenhan M. Herindra hopes that later the team from the Indonesian Ministry of Defense and the Air Force Headquarters in carrying out verification and validation can provide feasible input as material for leadership evaluation, in deciding future opportunities for cooperation between the Indonesian defense industry and CSG Aerospace. notable radar developer under CSG group is Retia, they had a few good portofolio on developing an AESA radar, though some of them are still concept and not operational.

R&D budget is now getting larger. IMO BRIN wants defense program that has more relationship with Defense ID (SOE Defense Holding) to get financing from either MOD or Finance Ministry budget (LPDP budget). LPDP budget for 2021 is 20 trillion Rupiah ( around 1.7 billion USD). There is chance that LPDP budget can be bigger in 2022, at least 2 billion USD. I dont know LPDP budget for 2022 fiscal year though. LPDP is a program for scholarship ( master degree/Phd degree) and R&D program.

Elang Hitam Male drone is BPPT project, so I believe BPPT ( part of BRIN) will likely still become the main financial backing of the program for 2022 and beyond

that's long month ago, if you look closely they used 90K6E Iskra for the litbangyasa patch logo..... is this foreshadowing where do we get the radar technology from ?

No one who will give radar technology to any foreign entity for free, we even dont buy that radar. Getting the design of the feature (look) from other radar product in early development program is very usual, you can see Chinese defense product who mimic US defense product, it doesnt mean USA give technology to China. Any way that banner most probably made by our MoD who is interested on the radar

the truck looks goofy as always :( .
Is not bad IMO, considering they use commercial truck as the platform.
The way the radar and control room can be integrated into this small truck is good and looks very mobile, maybe they can use bigger truck next time.
the CEO looks honest, he said all of the RF component are still imported, and at the very least they could improve the local content up to 60%.
Semiconductor, RF well that hard for us right now, how about the LCD and touch display? Imported product?

The problem about budget is very frustrating indeed.
Hoping there will be someone that carve their own path developing local indhan even without govt support (budget).

Oh it's an MRAP alright, it has been developed since 2016 (5 years ago)

Dan yang tak kalah hebat, PT SSE juga sedang mengembangkan Ranpur berkemampuan anti ranjau pesanan Paspampres. Seperti apa bentuknya? kita nantika saja karya PT.SSE selanjutnya.
And what is no less great, PT SSE is also developing Ranpur with anti-mine capabilities ordered by Paspampres. What does it look like? Let's just look forward to the next work of PT. SSE.
