Dr. from Osmaniye Korkut Ata University. Lecturer With the project he prepared, Müslüm Demir aims to make a super capacitor that can be charged quickly from the waste of the pistachio shells and can use energy efficiently.

OKU Engineering Faculty Chemical Engineering Department academic staff member Dr. Müslüm Demir was able to receive a grant from TÜBİTAK with the project titled "Production of porous carbon from peanut shell waste and its application in super capacitors" prepared with his teammates.

Demir told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the importance of capacitors is increasing with the introduction of rechargeable energy sources into automotive and other sectors and that studies are being carried out all over the world.
Stating that these capacitors are used in electronic devices, airplanes and lastly in electric cars, Demir said:

"There is no company that produces lithium and super capacitors in our country. We thought about what we can do about it and decided to prepare a project. Later, we applied to TÜBİTAK with this project and we managed to be among the first 144 projects out of approximately 3 thousand 500 projects. Individual Young Entrepreneur. We received a grant of 200 thousand TL from the project. Our project will last about a year. Our goal at the end of the project is to make a prototype of the super capacitor energy storage system. "

Stating that they plan to obtain the porous carbon acquisition required for the electrode part of the supercapacitors from the pistachio shell waste, Demir said, "For this, we will take the peanut shell and mix it with simple chemicals and make it inert at high temperatures. Stating that another reason is the need for a super capacitor in order for the batteries of the domestic car TOGG to be charged quickly, Demir said, "As a team, we designed a system by producing carbon from peanut shell and applying it in super capacitors to charge our domestic and national vehicle faster. We are planning to develop this system to provide indigenous and nationality. "

Emphasizing that they want to use the super capacitor they will build in the domestic industry, so they will not have to bring super capacitors from abroad, Demir continued as follows:

"We chose to use the shell of pistachio on the basis of localness in our project. Although there is a great demand for super capacitors in our country, there is no manufacturer company. We care about this project in order to make super capacitors cheaper and to minimize the supply time by using our country's resources."

According to the description; TAI delivered 500 Ailerons to Airbus. The company is the only supplier that produces these Ailerons.. It is also the sole supplier of Airbus A350 - 900 and A350-1000 aircrafts. The first flight of A350-900 Aircraft has been successfully completed on 14 June 2014 and the customer delivery has been started on 22 December 2014. The first flight of A350-1000 Aircraft has been successfully completed on 24 November 2016 and the customer delivery started at the end of 2017

HABRAS (Warhead High Speed Rocket Test Track)​


Warhead High Speed Rocket Test Track called HABRAS is one of the ground test facilities that is built and operated by TÜBİTAK SAGE to provide dynamic testing services for defense and aerospace researches. Its building started in June 2017 and was opened by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on October 31, 2018. HABRAS is one of the few high speed test tracks in the world with 2-km long double rail system. It is located at the Turkish MoD Firing Range, Test, and Evaluation Centre in Karapınar/Konya.

HABRAS is a kind of ground-based test facility that means it can offer a cost-effective, realistic/tactical, and controlled dynamic test environment for high speed systems and subsystems as warheads and aerospace components. HABRAS is capable to speed the payload more than 1 tons up to Mach 1.5. HABRAS can provide dynamic test environments for various systems/subsystems, the some are listed below:

Munition Systems: Warheads (penetrator, shaped charged and etc.), fuzing systems, propulsion systems, seeker, and guidance systems,

Rescue Systems: Ejection seats, parachutes, canopy jettison systems, and rescue kits,

Environmental Effects: Rain/ice/particle erosion, high G-loads, and blast

Propulsion Systems: Solid/liquid propellant rocket motors, aircraft/space shuttle engine

Çakıl is the name of the Aselsan developed microprocessor produced by TSMC foundry of Taiwan which is now in functional verification phase conducted by Yongatek. It is based on the open source RISC-V architecture and is single core. Simply put It reflects the processor tech of 10-15 years ago. Which is usable for relatively simple computational work. No further information is being disclosed at the moment.

Turkish Aerospace Signs Agreement with Boeing for Thermoplastic Composite Production

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) will produce thermoplastic aircraft parts in Turkey under a new agreement inked with Boeing.

Turkish Aerospace announced today a partnership with Boeing as part of its continued effort to develop high-tech products locally. Turkish Aerospace, a research and development leader in Turkey, and Boeing’s partnership aims to develop thermoplastic manufacturing capability in Turkey. As part of this collaboration, Boeing will provide technical support for Turkish Aerospace to establish a facility for the production of thermoplastic materials for the aerospace industry. These light weight, energy efficient thermoplastic parts, will be produced in a fully automated production facility.

About the collaboration Turkish Aerospace CEO Prof. Temel KOTİL stated “We are very excited to sign a new cooperation with our strategic partner BOEING. We look forward to continue to increase the direction of new production technologies and aviation sector with such important collaborations. As the company that guides and leads the most important projects of Turkey, we will make high quality production and make thermoplastic investments, and we will reduce the cost significantly.”

Thermoplastics are polymers that can be melted and recast almost indefinitely. They are molten when heated and harden upon cooling. These characteristics, are reversible, so the material can be reheated, reshaped, and frozen repeatedly. As a result, thermoplastics are mechanically recyclable.

“This agreement adds a new dimension to the longstanding partnership between Turkish Aerospace and Boeing. It also expands the existing technology collaboration between Boeing and Turkey under the National Aerospace Initiative (NAI), which is Boeing’s investment plan for Turkey announced in 2017. This is a reflection of our continued commitment to the country and to our partners” stated Aysem SARGIN, managing director Boeing Turkey.

Turkish Aerospace and Boeing’s research is focused on designing high quality thermoplastic parts in a high-capacity rapid production system for aerospace use. Initial results show that High Efficiency Affordable Rapid Thermoplastic (HEART), can reduce the production cycle and process costs by 30% compared to conventional composites. This partnership will include the training of technical personnel to develop local expertise in this field and enable Turkey to produce thermoplastics that meets the highest global standards
