ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol: "
One of our main goals is to build a national, fully independent defense industry in the 100th anniversary of the Republic. This year, we have been able to produce gallium nitrate transistors, which we use in radar and electronic warfare, locally, with the work we carried out jointly with BİLKENT University.

This is extremely important if we manage to build up our own semiconductor industry, then we can talk about absolute independence.
Let it be only in the military sector, we can forget about ever catching up with Taiwan, South Korea, China & EU/USA, the lead is too high for that.
But they can no longer enforce embargoes that could hit us hard in the defense industry.
Maybe we will manage to get to 25nm in 4-5 years.

This is what I call state-of-the-art. Aselsan managed to fit 1152 T/R modules on the nose of an F-16 without any enlargement and from a transistor to a finished product with in-house design and production. Aselsan can easily scale this to 2x (2304 modules) and use it as the nose radar part of the BURFIS RF suite. Look at the size and compactness of the building block that has 16x T/R modules.

Apparently, US is building 3 munitions lines in Texas, purchased from a Turkish defence company (purchasing lines?), which would be MKE I guess.

Relevant part:

"We are partnering with the Turkish defense industry to boost our critical munition stockpiles, which must be replenished following our unprecedented assistance to Ukraine’s defense against Russia’s full-scale invasion. In Texas, the Department of Defense is building three munitions lines purchased from a Turkish defense firm.

By next year, an estimated 30% of all 155 mm rounds made in America will come from these Texas factories, thanks to the U.S.-Türkiye defense partnership. "

So they sold their equipment to the US and thus made our supply lines weaker?
Or does it mean that they are investing in new production and new equipment in the US?

Something doesnt sound right about this announcement.

A few weeks ago I shared that MKE have established a company in the US, seems like they built a production line there but the news avoids saying it is a Turkish company making America's munitions. I don't think MKE is just selling production lines.
