Even with this in mind, I'm sure a significant Turkish population will still support Palestine or the idea of another Jewish expulsion. For one even discounting racial consideration, modern Turkiye is overwhelmingly muslim. And the idea that the third holiest site in Islam is under occupation will naturally attract these people to the Palestinian cause. So in the long run, as I said it before the advantage goes with the Palestinian because not only they could garner the sympathy of the Arabs, they could garner even non-Arab sympathy by the basis of religion alone. Not only the Turks but as far as Indonesia and Malaysia.

Of course, I'm saying this knowing full well that there are many secular Turks who don't want anything to do with religion or even outright defending Israel, but there's always that added bonus.

And fact on the ground remains, Israel is a lake surrounded by Arabs and Muslims, many if not most dislike them and only the consideration of the U.S stops them from doing anything. Take the U.S out....things will be interesting.

And Atatürk didn't rebelled against the Ottoman Empire he and dozens of other Military and Political figures rejected the humiliating treaty the Sultan was willing to sign. And the people joining the Kuva-yi Milliye instead the Caliphate Army of the Sultan tells you a lot.

Please... War is not about morality. It's about what you're willing to do do to win and what you can stomach as acceptable collateral. Israel is no "better" than anyone. They're simply one actor in a difficult conflict, while Hamas is the other, backed by a Palestinian society that supports and tolerates them, therefore, putting themselves in Israel's line of fire.

Morality in war is secondary to victory.

The dying ottoman empire and the the young Turks caused all kinds of problems which contributed to the Arab decision to rebel. For example, forced secularization. Besides, most Arabs were still fighting for the ottoman empire. The ones who rebelled were a small percentage.

The events of 100 years ago are direct consequences of todays conflicts in the region, and one concequence of arabs trusting the brits more than ottomans is israel, simple as that.
I laugh at my countryman who naively support palestinians just for religious feelings, these people rounded up turkish soldiers and massacred them ruthlessly from syria all the way down to yemen, we even have songs aboit those events.
Those who forget their past wont exist in the future.

I say again, this is arab problem, turkey has no dog in this fight, just stay out of it and take a learning experience.
