Not like they'll exactly need it, they're fighting...Hezbollah.

I can't see there being all that much of a land element to whatever they do this time either (can't see the IDF falling for it, other than some surgical special forces hits here and there), it'll probably be more overwhelming air power. Not much Hezbollah can do there in terms of ambush preparations and such.

Nobody won in the 8 years of the war.


Again,nobody won Israel left under pressure from the US,NATO etc.

Portugal won a military victory in Angola and Mozambique but they still lost the overall war.

You can make a case with France vs Algeria. French may have won militarily but they still lost the war and Algeria became independant.

Usa may have won militarily in Vietnam and Afghanistan they still lost the overall war.

Soviet Union occupied most of Afghanistan it was still not enough for them to win the war. They lost.

Leaving is just the politically correct way of saying we lost.

Very interested to see what Israel can do in response to Hezbollah and I'm equally interested to see if the Americans will get involved in the bombing campaign in Lebanon after relocating so many strike assets to the region. They may just use them as defensive detterent, however, I wouldn't be surprised to see them get involved offensively at some level.

Israel's decisions have brought itself to this point. Now we get to see how prepared Hezbollah is to fight this war. They've been preparing for a long time. They are to be respected.

I don't want to hear any crying in this thread about dead Lebanese civilians though. If you're going to support Hezbollah launching volleys of rockets and ordinance into Israeli civilian areas, you should expect no mercy for the people of Lebanon in return. When Israel starts bombing anything and everything that resembles a Hezbollah stronghold in southern Lebanon, Hezbollah and the people of Lebanon will have gotten what they asked for.

An Israeli soldier aboard a Navy vessel was killed and two others were hurt amid this morning’s Hezbollah attack on northern Israel.
The slain sailor is named as Petty Officer First Class David Moshe Ben Shitrit, 21, of the Navy's 914th Patrol Squadron, from Geva Binyamin-Adam.

The other two soldiers are listed in moderate and light condition. According to an initial IDF probe, the sailors on a Dvora-class patrol boat off the coast of northern Israel were hit by shrapnel from an Iron Dome interceptor missile, as at least two Hezbollah drones flew over the area.

The military is investigating the possibility that the interceptor missile was tracking one of the Hezbollah drones and then, due to unknown circumstances, swapped to target the ship and exploded directly above it. Another possibility, although considered less likely, is that the interceptor missile managed to intercept one of the drones just above the ship, but also wounded the sailors. Footage from the incident shows an Iron Dome interceptor missile exploding adjacent to the ship. Parts of the interceptor missile were found inside the ship after the incident. The Dvora ship is currently being repaired and will return to service by tomorrow.

Numerous sources reporting that Hezbollah fired approximately 320 rockets into Israel in their initial barrage. Israel then responded by attacking Lebabon with approximately 100 strike aircraft the in early hours of the morning, destroying substantial numbers of Lebanese rocket launch sites that were set up / being set up for the next wave of strikes.

It will be interesting to see who can better keep up the tempo. The IAF is in a race to launch sorties to preemptively smash Lebanon's launch vehicles and sites, while Lebanon races to deploys these units and overwhelming Israeli air defenses.

It doesn't look like Lebanon has the air defense weapons they need to threaten Israel's 4th and 5th generation aircraft and their long range PGMs. Should be an interesting few days. I expect we're going to get a lot of combat footage. We know that Hezbollah has more than 100,000 rockets in it's inventory, but the question is more about launch vehicles. Israel has excellent satellite and drone surveillance over large parts of Lebanon. It's going to be difficult to get a lot of those launch vehicles and sites set up for saturation attacks before Israeli strikes surpress them preemptively.
