I'm dissapointed in the amount of footage that has come out of yesterdays visit. It seems the visit was semi-secret. Perhaps more footage will come out from now on.

its not a replacement.. and never can be..

but I like the idea 60mm is not bad

I always asked myself why these vehicle are always without some guns (yeah they have another main purpose) but on certain circumstances its can be very helpfull to have additional firepower speacially against buildings or bunkers

I mean akkor should be on all transoprter vehicles and beyond that..
detectors and optical sights are good
I may have only added 20mm gun or 12mm machine gun with 40mm automatic granade launcher that should be enough against terrorists
maybe some drones to have some eyes in the air if nessesary

I would like too see tulpar and kaplan in inventory 500 and 500 would be great to see I also would like to see them with latest turkish Sensors and detectors from optical sights to radars that thing above is not a replacement for an ifv but given to some ground realities it should have weaponary too but I wont want to see it emerging on front lines for attacks thats stupid

Which engine we need to power (hp) Tulpar?
If we look at the current configuration of Tulpar (non S version) It looks like this:

-It is claimed that two different engines are available on this armored vehicle. The Tulpar is available with Scania DSI 14 or DSI 16 turbocharged diesel engines
The Otokar Tulpar is motorized by a Scania DI 16 diesel engine developing 800 hp. at 2,150 rpm coupled to an 32 speeds automatic transmission SAPA SG-850.
The Weight is between 32 and up to 42 Tons, depending on Configuration.

-The Firtina Howitzer weighs approx. 48 Tons and is relying on a MTU 881 Ka-500 diesel producing 1000hp.

My assessment would be that the new Power pack developed by BMC Power named UTKU Producing 1000hp would be more than adequate since you can also artificially restrict the Power Output of an Engine and also Future proof the highly modular platform Tulpar for future modifications, comparable to the M2 Bradley, at the same Time.

tulpar has 600 hp scannia engine as I know for today I dont know how difficult it is to use a turkish replacement but if we have 1000 hp it sounds nice to have... but may be its too much and too big in size to fit in actual vehicle.. if ever a tulpar 2 version would come out I definitivly would love to see a turkish 1000hp engine

HEY I am mixing up things.. I googled it its not 600 hp its 800.. kaplan has 600 hp but I do not know wich one

Would engine production of BMC push other companies to develop their own?
It should... Otherwise I just can't see them being competitive in the Turkish market. For example FNSS is using TUMOSAN for their engine source for the OMTTZA project. It is not necessary to develop the engine themselves but they can use engines of other partner companies.

Which is why companies that can build and develop an engines are needed as they’re not competitor but supplier.

I am not sure FNSS would go for an engine from BMC unless TSK states it.

Exactly BMC is a competitor for FNSS, Otokar etc. Having engines developed by let's say TEI or TR Motor as a seperate entity would have been good.

French VBCI use 550hp engine for 29 ton and 600hp engine for 32 ton weight.
Swiss Piranha use 577hp MTU 6V100 engine for 33ton or Scania DC 13 engine with 644 hp for 36 ton
Germany boxer use 711hp engine for 36-38 ton weight for 8x8.
I think BMC 8x8 would be around 35 ton

very good news, i hope the other companies like Otokar can also develop the own motor. the most projects are relating bcoz of embargos, so we will never think about it anymore

Although Otokar is 100% Turkish owned. It's parent company Koc Holding. Koc owns the largest automotive manufacturing capabilities in the country. Otosan Ford (41% owned by Koc, 41% owned by Ford), Tofas (37,8% owned by Koc, 37,8 owned by Fiat). Otosan designs and builds engines. But Koc Holding does not attempt to develop its own engines under its own brand as it is a trust company. Making engines which would compete with Ford, Fiat etc. would risk the whole and the future ventures for Koc. One of the main reasons I don't like Koc Holding in general is that they dont attempt more ambitious ventures.

When it comes to BMC. I don't like the owners and how its is run. It board members doesn't even have engineers. It is not a company that is capable of developing tracked armored vehicles and majority of the other stuff. If the incentives given to BMC was given to FNSS and Otokar, we would probably had the one of the best vehicles in its class. It is not a company that would survive without the support of current government. They are trying to jump on everything, from military vehicles, trains to jet engines (lol). Its effecting the whole tender process for military to acquire modern armored vehicle that it desperately needs. Nepotism is going to discourage other companies from building good products as they are not going to be able to get the contract either way. Also we have limited resources, we don't need like 3 companies working on the same stuff. Qatari money I guesss

I wish the government backed initiative to develop engines wasn't done under BMC.

I see it this way, simple - As long as there is progress for self-sufficient country in it's means to defend itself, I could not give a flying fuck about the favouritism :)

It is not a competition about who makes better stuff, it is about who benefits the nation in short, medium and long term. Those who keep the money and technology in the country benefits the nation the most. Those who come up with slightly better products with the help of foreigners can at times help with providing the nation with products but it won't last long as the money goes outside. We can not allow our economy leak/bleed by buying foreign stuff in forms of material or engineering services. We have to make our own.

"Favoritism" costed lives in Syria, army didn't have proper vehicles. Wheeled IFVs that should had been acquired 4-6 years ago wasn't there. Engine alternatives for IFVs could be easily found. Why was contract still delayed to this point is question. Future of Leo modernization was unclear for years. Still kind of a mystery. BMC attempted to modernize Leo two times, both failed. Now attempting for the 3rd time. While there was perfectly good Aselsan and Roketsan modernization. BMC got the Altay contract without a factory and experience in tracked armored vehicles. Not to forget factory BMC is planning to build a factory in Karasu to be used later on for armored vehicles but it is not strategically located and dangerously close to sea for a military factory. I wouldn't care either if it was a capable company but what it is a shit show.

This sums it up well
