Correction, the coal is there just off shore, PRC is refusing to complete the transaction....coz its "tariffed" now.

Talk about cutting nose to spite face:

There are short , temporarcy blackout happening in every country, recently just happened in US too. why it becomes such a big news here? Australian coal only accounts for 2% of China's total coal consumption, how can it be a big factor in China's energy sector?
A couple of Indians here are so excited about some minor Chinese power cut, has India never experienced blackouts and power cuts?

Australian coal only accounts for negligible 2% of China's total coal consumption
Blue is the Chinese domestic coal production share, grey is imports excluding Australia, red is the share of the imported coal from Australia

Official data show Chinese plants obtained about 3 per cent of their thermal coal from Australia last year. The ratio, said an official at trade association the China Electricity Council, could exceed 10 per cent in more developed provinces that are drawn to the high quality of Australian coal.

10% is significant enough obviously.

Just like comparing apples and oranges (as to situation relating to a blackout when asserting in half dollar way) is unintelligent....but typical.

I never experienced blackouts in China, but I m sure it happens some times for various reasons like it does everywhere else in this world. China produces the most electricity in the world, the country doesn't have to worry about the electricity supply, stable power supply is part of the success story of China's manufacturing and overall economy.

Ah yes back to inflated chinese statistics.... and controlled chinese media reporting (like does CCP even allow reporting of mass blackouts pertaining to severe loss of face?....that other country news media simply couldn't allow for).

Along with the obligatory "I" (asserted non-credibly) and thus "everyone too" typical collectivist inference.

At least no ad-hominem to mod this time.

Point stands that 10%+ is significant and even 3% is given electric grid sensitivity.

All sounds super "minor" to me:

Is CCP your catch phrase and you can't say a sentence without speaking it? You can live in your fantasy world believing everything coming out of China must be fake or inflated, but everyone who visited China can see it on the ground, not on paper, you can choose to live under a rock forever, it's your choice.

As listed by record, China never suffered major blackouts in the 21st century, India and US both did, so you better worry about your own country which only generates a fraction of China's electricity.

One party state literally means its the start and end of all data and news percolation regarding large events sizeable to its power-holding (be it what happened in famines, revolutions under its control and tianenmen or some "power cut" scale and reason, past and present)

Credibility is established by non-totalitarianism. Rest we correlate where more hands are involved (say remote sensing, 3rd party trade and yes good and bad videos of china inside as they percolate in whatever rate).

China has done well on lot of these matters, but then the folly assertion is this is again some purely govt-driven and directed thing to then compare with other govt in some asserted 1:1 way.

How does one visit the entirety of China to speak for everyone and everything? ...and then assert all of it is good or "better"?....speaking as some authority of consensus, when anonymous and obscure and irrelevant to begin with?

Its a very non-totalitarian, non-collectivist approach to think about in first place, I guess its too hard for some....hard-wired long time ago.

If I were you I would worry more about India first, worrying about another country and people is useless and funny.

Indonesia just enter the 20 club of most producing electricity country in 2018 and even sit at number 19 since the mid of 2018 and replace Australia.

Some Americans also live in the street, but China and US don't have large scale of poverty and slums India has, you still rank near the bottom of the global hunger index chart, so you guys better try to take care of your own fellows before worrying about helping others. You still have the biggest number of poor people in the world by a large margin.
Stick to the topic. Don't derail the thread. If you wish to open a thread about comparing poverty - please go ahead and do so. This thread is about China and its electric cuts. Stay within the scope.

You brought Tibet in this thread, remember? let's just talk about the power cuts, it happens in every country, China produces world most electricity by a massive margin, electricity is never a problem for China, the world manufacturing production base.
Based on the international record, China didn't have major blackouts in 21st century. The countries have world worst blackouts in the past 10 years are these below.

This refers to single blackout events. This has nothing to do with the topic either. The topic is "power cuts".

Tibetans are Chinese citizens - so access to electricity to them comes within the scope of this thread.

China has national grid being connected to every prefecture in China, 100% full coverage, including Tibet, even on Mount Everest, it is covered by 5G,it's safe to say their standard of living beat all south Asians hands down.

World's highest county in Tibet connected to China's power grid

Rationing electricity and electricity coverage is two different matters. We can go down to scale of villages and China may end up not in a good condition, while going in city scale china will perform better than most of Asian countries.
But the topic is power cuts because of rationing electricity, not about a blackout caused by a major malfunction, grid failure etc.
If you would like to enlighten people about why electricity is rationed in some districts, and why China can not produce up to demand ,then you are welcomed.

Thanks. So this county in Tibet was the last county or one of the last counties in all of China to be connected to the national grid. This once again proves that Tibet is lower in the priority order for the CCP compared to other provinces. Either way, we will see how things pan out.

South Asia has nothing to do with this thread. For development in South Asia, open another thread.

Do you know how high Tibet is? any projects can easily be a hundred times harder when done on the Tibetan Plateau where oxygen is less than half of everywhere else, grow some common sense.
