Both leaders are heading towards an election, but cater to nationalist voters.
In a way they are both helping each other with the election campaign. And that's all there is to say, just provocations and exchange of words. There will be nothing more nothing less.
2022 November There is a by-election in the USA, this affects the arithmetic of the parliament a lot. There is also a general election in 2024, a big change can be experienced in every subject. Republicans are doing well...

Some of the messages I read really astonish me.

  • The islands are illegally armed. And the US military presence is transferred to these islands.
  • Despite the ECHR decisions, especially against the Turkish minority, international agreements have been violated for 50 years.
  • Civilian ships are attacked in international waters. (If you accept the Greek thesis, in Turkish territorial waters)
  • Immigrant boats are being pushed back illegally. (Even the video evidence that the MSB publishes daily is no longer considered by any NATO country.)
  • There are provocative statements about Istanbul and Izmir at the level of state ministers every week.
  • Provocative, long-term NAVTEXs are announced in front of Turkish territorial waters.
  • Our islands and islets have been occupied. (which their sovereignty has not been transferred based on any international agreement)
  • The imposition of 10 miles is being made, which is unprecedented in the world. (Today, Turkiye is negotiating this imposition with the US not Greece, in the F-16 purchase talks)
***These are just the first things that come to mind, if we go down to the technical details, there are dozens of other issues. If you include the South Cyprus Greek administration, this list will increase even more. (Let's put aside the fact that the USA is actually behind this strategy for a moment and continue to look only through Greece.)

With which action exactly is Turkiye provoking Greece?

If we accuse those who advocate a harsh and intimidating policy against Greece of being a troll of Russia, some accusations can be also made about what actually they are who made this accusation.

Please choose your words more carefully.

I'm sorry, but trying to read this issue entirely through election arithmetic in countries is a very inadequate and incomplete perspective. Stones are moving in the geopolitics of the region. Not only regional but almost globally. Here, elections are not a goal, but one of the side effects of main goals. This does not only affect Turkiye. Look at Italy, France, even Germany, Sweden, and you'll see similar things. We weren't the ones who rolled the first snowball. And we do not have the dynamics to isolate ourselves from this avalanche.

Turkey is not ready yet, greece is just a pawn at this point. Any conflict will push Turkiye back and the sanctions will crash it(look at Iran). Don't get me wrong, Turkiye can overwhelm Greece, but will not get unscathed from the clash. It's not just the TFX,many programs need to come online. The TR defence industry needs to mature further and be able to go from A to Z. The Turkish leadership has decided to industrialize and innovate on par with the west. Until then, you guys will have to bite the bullet, just like you did in 1964(Johnson letter) and served as a motivation and preparation for 1974(Atila)
If I were given an option in today's conditions, 1- Opening the central Asian land connection with Türkiye while Russia is weak?

2- Would you prefer the Aegean islands to be connected to Türkiye?

I would prefer the opening of the central Asian land connection with Türkiye.
Good point. I think achieving the first one is much less costly. Aegean islands are gone for the next 50 years. But Central Asia, South Azerbaijan, Mousul, Halep you name it. There are some opportunities if we can bargain well with US, and Israel. When we are advanced and economically powerful we will either take the islands and Cyprus, or we will be Part of some important unions that we won’t need them.

The heartland of Turkey is the marmara region, not the stepes of Central Asia. Turkey will not become a hegemon without controlling the seas around it,Thrace and the Macedonian region(southern Bulgaria, northern Greece and eastern N.Macedonia). Central Asia is a bonus for trade and controll, but not a strategic imperative. Only Azerbaijan is strategic to Turkish interests, yet not as important as the Aegean, historic Thrace and Macedonia. Everything with "pan" failed and you can keep it alive by throwing money continuously. The stans will loose interest quickly if the money flow stops. Turkish citizens speak a turkish language, but genetically indigenous Anatolians and Europeans are a substantial component of it. No need to clash with Greece in the next couple of decades. Just grow strong and isolate them. The heavy industry and innovation will strengthen the economy.

Why did you check the Loussanne Peace treaty?

Jesus Christ:) if the white Turks don't know their history, how could Türkiye deal with international problems?

Why on earth you should investigate "Lausanne peace treaty "which gave you more sovereignty?

İ will check all you at history?

Answer it:)
Still, it does not even states anything about demilitarization. When Mudanya treaty was signed, there is some time provided to occupants to retreat their position during peace not forever. Thats about it. Believe me, if demilitarization status applies to Thrace, Greeks wont hesisate mention about it. I ve been on many social platform yet i just heard it from you.

I did never say Loussanne demilitarized Thrace. Please read my post again.

Mondros armistice absolutely demilitarized Thrace. The Mondros limited us to keep on Thrace just Gendarmerie for internal security. And numbers of Gendarmerie were limited to 8000.

With Loussanne, some puncts of Mondros armistice started changing.

Finally after Montreax convention Turkish Army could enter demilitarizat zone.

so we hadn't have full sovereignty until the 30ies.

Wow,you must be one of those ultra nationalists who sees black and white, aren't you. Chill out budy,no one is hurting you! I wonder how you are allowed to spew your hate on this site? You pick quarrels with any body quite often. If you were as passionate with geopolitics, you would learn a lot. I guess you see the people of Izmir lookalike the people of Ashgabat through your glasses.

Not even the caucaus Turks look like the Central asian turks with this mind chinese are also turks too.

Also İzmir occupants doesn't even look like med. greeks med greeks are looking like arabs while most of the izmir occupants carry eye folds because of heavy Turkmen immigration.
Again, who hurt you? Just asking, not that i care, given your inclination to go berserk for no reason. I am not a slav,as you can see from the profile flags. Even if i partially was, because the populations have mixed through centuries,is it a problem for you?!
No,i don't need data from rude people! Get rid of your inferiority complex, you will find peace by doing that.

Turkish Army entered demilitarized zone in Thrace on 10 August 1938

So we didn't have full sovereignty on Thrace.

I didn't start this, did i?If i said something that was deemed inappropriate by someone, there is a civil manner to discuss it! Instead this bully went berserk with ethnic slurs. This is not the first time he has done it,as i have witnessed. Anyway, i keep my composure, yet i don't cower from people! It is your responsibility to maintain order by correcting his/her behaviour.

The Foreign Minister of Greece has the solution for the Greco-Turkish aegean dispute: Sign the UNCLOS treaty and everything will be fine! Tranlation: Every ship passing from the Black sea to the Mediterranean, military or otherwise, must ask for permission from the Greek government. If this doesn't go well,he has another solution; Greece must become powerful with powerful alliances. Neither solution will pass nevertheless! Well,he can have powerful alliances, they just don't care about Greece, or its people.
He omitted the last sentence from his fellow countrymen.
