To my knowledge, we never agreed with Iraq to deploy Turkish soldiers to Iraq, but with KRG. Did Iraq ever gave its permission?

Iraq has been protesting it for a long time, filing a complaint with the UN even.

“The Turkish delegation was told that the only way to resolve the crisis is the full withdrawal of Turkish troops from Iraqi territory, and this will open the way for positive relations,” Thursday’s statement said."

When they can't secure their own borders and prevent that terrorists group up in their soil and start attacks toward Türkiye, threating our sovereignity, they can protest all they want. It's self defence.

Exactly. It's a "senin duanla doğmadım ki senin bedduanla öleyim" type of thing. We never asked for Iraqi permission to operate in N Iraq. Our partner there is KRG, not Iraqi government.

They can protest all they want, everyone knows what's going on. This won't effect our operations directly unless they put their money where their mouth is and move the army up north. If and when Iran wants to take matters into its own hand by using PMU, that's another issue.

Depends, Iranian aligned factions in Iraq have been reducing the autonomy of the KRG as much as they can, such as the oil sales (which TR made large profits from). TR has been balancing relations with Baghdad and Barzani but we will have to choose a side at some point in the near future - Iran or KRG

Although law doesn't matter much in this region so I doubt Iraq will move it's army up North and state they have the law on their side while evicting TR (potential conflict - how would TR respond?)

The PMU is going to be the likely response, rockets and drones on TR positions and interests, businesses while Iraq pretends it doesn't know where the source is. That would be the big problem for TR.

America is the litmus test, if America leaves, so is TR.

Funny thing about this resolution - Iran would stay in Iraq as they are not officially there.

Seems to be an important meeting, they emphasized that they conveyed Erdogan's greetings. The text seems much warmer than the meeting with Iraq. Perhaps the meeting with Iraq didn't go well and the text is to annoy Iraq.

They also did a full Barzani:

I think this is about Iran, not a new operation. TR is worried about Iranian influence.

It is expected a new operation to be started on Tepe Bahar, but just as you, I don't think this was the main theme of talk.

KDP knows very well what is coming and developments on tactical level also shows that. The emptied villages, the establishment of Peshmerga control points between Gara and Tepe Bahar, the airstrikes towards PKK targets in the vicinity of Sergele and the restraint from withdrawal of Turkish forces from the Matin Mountain suggests that we can expect a operation at Tepe Bahar this year. Even if by first glance this looks like something that is preventing the regular flow of logistics from Gara towards Sergele (Matin tunnel) it also carries importance for Tepe Bahar as well.

Lol again, it's only been a few days.

Also world governments summit. Interesting that the KRG are there.

Looks like terrorists are using the bad weather conditions as usual. No casualties reported so far.

Today in the evening, violent clashes took place between the Turkish Armed Forces and PKK terrorists in the Matin axis.

Commander of the Land Forces, General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, went on inspections at the 2nd Border Brigade Command in Hakkari, Cukurca, the Zer Tepe base area in the Claw-Lock Operation region, and the 172nd Armored Brigade Command in Sırnak's Silopi district.

General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu visited the convenience facilities in the barracks and base areas where the troops are stationed and examined the living conditions of the personnel. Meeting with the commanders and other personnel in the region, General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu shared his experiences with the personnel and gave instructions regarding the measures taken.

At least 4 terrorists were killed in the encounter. No casualties from our side.

With our neighbors?

It could not be Syria or Iran, because they dont give a damn about the PKK.

It must be Iraq. Iraq needs a pro-Turkish regime so that they can conduct a real and serious antiterror program.

Iraq is owned by Iran. The only Turkish ally there is the KDP half of the KRG and part of the Turkmen front that isn't Salihi hashd

Seems important.

I get the feeling Erdogan is trying to build an Arab alliance through the KDP against Iran, but Iran has been shooting down all these strategies so far.
