TSK/MIT's UCAVs struck a PKK target in the vicinity of the Badinan village in the Asos-Penchvin camp, 200 kilometers from the border.

The camp is located a tad south of Qandil and it is the most probable place from which the PKK fired a "358" missile at our Aksungur the last time. TSK and MIT concentrates a lot on this place in the last week.

HAHAHAH, Oh my God! This made my day!

PUK Spokesperson Sadi Ahmed Pire:

As PUK, we definitely do not see Turkiye as our enemy. We have never been enemies of Turkiye and we never wanted to be enemies of Turkiye.

We are not happy with the presence of the PKK in the Kurdistan Region, which creates a complex situation here and complicates the relations between the PUK and Turkiye.

The solution to the PKK problem is not in Duhok or Sulaymaniyah, but the solution to the PKK problem is in Turkiye.

Relations between Turkiye and PUK will no longer continue like this, relations will normalize and strengthen. The Turkish Foreign Minister and the new Turkish consul are playing a good role in this regard.

As PUK, we see Turkiye as a great regional power, it has a long border with the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

Turkey steps up pressure on PUK's Bafel Talabani over alleged PKK ties

Turkish security sources warn of 'operational consequences' if the Iraqi Kurdish leader doesn't change course

Turkey has decided to intensify its pressure on Bafel Talabani, the chairman of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), due to his alleged cooperation with Kurdish armed groups deemed terrorist by Ankara, Turkish sources told Middle East Eye.

Tensions between Talabani’s PUK, the second-largest party in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), and Ankara have been rising over the past two years, with Turkey accusing him of collaborating with PKK-linked groups in Syria.

Recent developments, however, have shifted the balance in Turkey’s favour.

Last year, Ankara banned flights to northeastern Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah, a PUK stronghold, and senior Turkish officials, including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, have repeatedly issued strong condemnations specifically targeting Talabani.

In recent months, Turkey has accelerated its military operations against the PKK in northern Iraq, closing in on the Metina region, previously a stronghold of the Kurdish armed group. This progress has been made in collaboration with the KRG and Baghdad, which has softened its criticism of Turkish military operations.

A Turkish source familiar with the situation told MEE that senior PKK members have been in Sulaymaniyah and received training there, despite public pressure on the PUK leader.

Earlier this year, Erdogan even claimed that the PKK has a hospital in the city. “We closely monitor PKK activities in the vicinity of Sulaymaniyah, and possible threats are being eliminated,” the source said.

In March, Turkey's national intelligence service “eliminated” Gulsun Silgir, aka Sara Hogir Riha, a senior PKK member responsible for youth camps, near Sulaymaniyah.

Turkish security sources told MEE that Talabani has been warned of “operational consequences” if he does not sever ties with the PKK.

These sources, however, declined to specify what the consequences would be, but recalled Ankara’s air campaign last year targeting PKK leaders in Sulaymaniyah.

They did not comment on whether PUK elements would be directly targeted.

In 2023, Turkey killed at least 15 senior PKK figures, most of them in Sulaymaniyah, through military drone operations.

PUK challenges

KRG security sources, speaking to MEE on condition of anonymity, said that Turkey’s ongoing operations targeting PKK strongholds in northern Iraq have put pressure on the PUK.

“Bafel could not find a way out through the Americans and Iranians. This is real pressure,” said a security source in the KRG, which is dominated by the PUK’s rival, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).

Earlier this month, Turkish media said that Talabani had fled Iraq due to Turkish pressure, a claim denied by a KRG security source.

Last week, Talabani attended a meeting in Sulaymaniyah with Iraqi National Security Adviser Qassem Eremi to discuss Turkey's operations.

PUK sources told MEE that internal splits within the party have weakened Talabani and his supporters. They added that Lahur and Qubad Talabani, Bafel’s cousin and brother who favour good relations with the KRG and Turkey, are growing stronger.

According to PUK sources, in the next Kurdistan elections most of the PUK’s military wing will support Lahur, who in January established his own party, the People’s Front, to rival Bafel.

“If the elections take place, the political picture in the Kurdistan region will change. The destabilisation of this region through sectarian stubbornness turns it into a playground for the PKK and Iran,” said a PUK source. “Bafel and his team are also aware of the axis shift within the PUK.”

Turkish security sources told MEE messages are being sent to Bafel Talabani in indirect talks conducted through intelligence channels and Qubad Talabani, who is also the deputy prime minister of the KRG.

The sources said Bafel Talabani’s requests to hold direct meetings with Turkish counterparts have been rejected due to his alleged ties to the PKK.

However, opposition to Turkish operations in Iraq persists, as indicated by a statement from Iraqi army spokesman Major-General Yahya Rasool following a National Security Council meeting, which described Turkey’s operations against the PKK in the KRG region as a violation of Iraqi sovereignty.

MEE sent questions to Bafel Talabani through PUK spokesperson Sadi Pira but did not receive a response.

“The PUK is not against Turkey and does not want to fight with Turkey,” Pira previously told VOA Kurdi, denying allegations of cooperation with the PKK.

Guys, it is time for some news. We didn't reported so often because there was actually not a lot of news worth mentioning out of the routine airstrikes and the reinforcements which continue to flow towards Seladiz.

3 terrorists were killed in result of the recent airstrikes on the Asos-Qandil camp. These three were announced by the PJAK/YRK (PKK Iran wing) as their fighters. Looks like we got a good strike there as media reported that MIT killed the so-called PKK commander for Suleymaniye with a code name "Tolhidan", Omer Firat. The other two killed terrorists were Iranian nationals of which the one is code name "Raman Renas", Irfan Zendi and code name "Cengaver Mikayil", Hidayet Resuli.

Another important news is that a terrorist taking place in the "RED" Most Wanted List, Yusuf Kalkan was killed during an operation in a village inside the Metina camp.

Iranian-made 107 mm Fajr-1 rockets were among the ammunition seized during the ongoing search and scanning activities in the north of Iraq within the scope of the Turkish Armed Forces' Claw-Lock Operation.

These rockets were used by Iran-affiliated militia groups in many attacks in Syria and Iraq.

In a news report in 2021, Arab sources reported that 107 mm rockets were provided to the terrorist organization PKK by the Nuceba organization affiliated with Iraqi Hezbollah, after the high-level meeting held in Sinjar, including the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

The exact model of rockets were used against Turkish military targets in Iraq by the Iranian supported militias earlier.

Everything in the operation so far is going good. During the time we didn't reported there were the routine reinforcements and airstrikes on the villages between Tepe Bahar and Gara and airstrikes on a couple of deep points in Asos, Qandil. These days airstrikes are intense in the Hakurk camp.

During the search activities carried out in a cave within the scope of the ongoing Claw-Lock operation in the north of Iraq, HS-C3000 Plus detector and Spectran HF-60105 V4 frequency analyzer used by the terrorist organization PKK were seized.

The HS-C3000 Plus detector can be used to detect insect bugs, cameras and other electronic surveillance and listening equipment.

It is considered that the members of the organization tried to detect the hidden cameras and eavesdropping systems placed in the region by the Turkish Armed Forces with this detector.

Spectran HF-60105 V4 can monitor communication signals and electronic activities by analyzing frequency spectrums.

It is thought that members of the organization are trying to detect the jammer signals of the Turkish Armed Forces and to detect the communications of the troops in the field through radio frequencies.

PKK uses these devices in order to counter eavesdropping by MIT/TSK in the region. We know that MIT and TSK are using the latest technology available in their intelligence gathering operation.

Such an advanced eavesdropping device was found by PKK in Gara one week before the unsuccessful operation for the rescue of our hostages in 2021 led by our Special Forces. PKK is using devices like the one above in order to prevent information leaks.

Very important development.

Following the decision by Hashd al-Shaabi leadership to disband the Turkmen Hashd and dismiss its commander, protests have erupted among Shia Turkmen in Kirkuk and Salahuddin.

This move follows shortly after the release of four Turkmen Hashd fighters accused of attacking the Khor Mor gas field.

On Friday, July 26, 2024, the Hashd al-Shaabi Authority announced the dissolution of the Northern Command, also known as the Turkmen Force, a specialized unit comprised of Shiite Turkmen operating in Salahuddin and Kirkuk governorates.

Concurrently, Abu Reza Najjar, the commander overseeing the northern axis of the force, was relieved of his duties.

In response to this decision, demonstrations broke out today in Kirkuk and Khurmatu, with some armed members and supporters of the disbanded force resorting to road blockades.

The Northern Command (Turkmen Force) of Hashd al-Shaabi, established in 2014, consisted of several armed units within the framework of the 16th Brigade of Hashd al-Shaabi.

These units were deployed across Kirkuk and Salahuddin governorates.

The timing of this dissolution is notable, as it follows closely on the heels of a Baghdad court's decision last week to release four Turkmen Hashd fighters who had been implicated in an attack on the KorMor gas field in Sulaimani.

What is the rationale behind Hashd al-Shaabi's decision to disband the exclusively Turkmen Northern Command?

According to a directive issued by Falih Al-Fayyadh, the head of Hashd al-Shaabi, the primary objective is to consolidate the various competing Hashd brigades in Kirkuk and Salahuddin governorates. These units will be merged into the Eastern Euphrates Command, creating a more unified structure.

Under this reorganization, an Arab commander will be appointed to lead the newly unified force, with a new Shia Turkmen serving as deputy commander. While this arrangement allegedly aims to streamline operations and reduce internal competition, it effectively means that Turkmen will no longer have their own independent force within the Hashd al-Shaabi framework.

The Turkmens are going trough some changes after the latest elections in the KRG. Iran, Turkiye, KDP, PUK and PKK are pressing hard towards their interests. Let's hope we manage to turn these events in our favour.

Hakan Fidan and Nechirvan Barzani had a short on foot discussion with IRGC's Qaani. I am sure there is a lot to discuss :cautious:
