"Reminding the Sochi Consensus, Erdoğan stated that the determination regarding the safe zone at a depth of 30 kilometers continues.

Erdogan said:

"It is not possible for us to remain silent against the attacks"

"The historical address of this business is not given. The goals we have reached with Mr. Putin are clear in the Sochi Agreement. I reminded him of this again. Our target, especially from the border to the south, is at a depth of 30 km.

Our country is under the threat of terrorists. It has increased recently. We cannot remain silent against them.

"Decision together with Russia, maybe implementation..."

We warn here, we remind, we warn, we asked their support for the steps we will take here, together with friendly Russia, and maybe even the implementation of the decision.

We cannot compromise here. If my country is under threat, we will not seek permission from anyone."

I think our president is pointing out new developments. It's a good idea to act together with Russia. Usa's hands are tied.

now December 15th, to many lobby or what...

a long line of terrible political decisions brought us to this point.

The terrible political decisions could be ignored had we had a strong economy but AK party is a responsible for giving us one of the worst running economies on earth. Where every week we get a new record on the depreciation on the value of the lira.

The moment we quite rightly downed in the instigating russian jet we should have incrementally been closing all business we do with Russia, then if we need hit the PKK in syria where they control there is nothing they could have done about it.

But the AK party/Islamist economy is a mess and he's terrified of sanctions from Russia. Let that sink in, the entire world has sanctioned Russia meanwhile Turkey is the only nation on earth left to worry about sanctions from Russia.

This administration is absolutely useless. You find supporters of AK party are the same kind of people that want to tell you the west is dying.

you have to wonder the extent in which the message is controlled out there. Could it be that nearly every major source is compromised? We see how it all amplifies the same message concerning the PKK for example.
The majority of the US media's deafening silence to these Twitter leaks answers your question. Only conservative and independent media have been covering it, while the majority of media (which are Progressive, i.e., Rainbow Marxist), has either said nothing or played it down.

Today, Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and National Intelligence Agency chief Hakan Fidan met with their Syrian counterparts in Moscow. Topics of the meeting were the Syrian crisis, the temporary asylum seekers problem, and joint fighting against the terrorist organizations inside the Syrian borders. Sides agreed to hold follow on meetings.

In Syria, which we forget when we say Russia and the Assad regime, there is also Iran.

I wonder where Iran will be placed under these new conditions. Will it be accepted within the Assad regime? Or will it be excluded?

Or will Russia say withdraw to Iran?

Don't think these talks will bear any fruit. This is just Erdogan waltzing Putin around.

Assad can't get YPG/SDF out of Syria, I think Turkey is gaining time, aiming to make two enemies on the field beat each other.

Assad can't get YPG/SDF out of Syria, I think Turkiye is gaining time, aiming to make two enemies on the field beat each other.

The reason the YPG has such a strong hold in Syria is because the Assad dynasty gave them safe haven and are they used as a card against Turkey. Assad doesnt want to get rid of the YPG, that is your first mistake in thinking. Assad and the YPG see Turkey as the bigger enemy then they do each other. The YPG and Assad can exist together, but both fear that Turkey could eventually supplant both of them.

The second mistake you make is in thinking that our enemies Assad/Putin and the PKK are not aware of the obvious games erdogan tries to play. As a result he's continually outplayed in Syria. Just like his we can come suddenly one night, meanwhile our enemies know this is all hot air from erdogan. Erdogan will beg and seek approval before he does something and if he cannot get approval he will do nothing.

While you are under the illusion that erdogan will get these guys to fight each other, the facts on the ground show that erdogan pretty much made all the players in syria allies of each other from Assad, Iran, YPG, Russia and the USA.

I don't mean to be rude but its this kind of simple thinking that has allowed an absolute fiasco like syria to take place and people keep voting for the leaders who gave you this mess.

As citizens of Turkey you shouldnt tolerate this failure. You wouldn't tolerate someone not doing a menial job correctly, why tolerate drivers of the state to create failures of gigantic proportions.

And ill repeat it again "talks are a waste of time" your enemies have a clear goal/stratergy in syria no amount of talking with them is going to make them change course. They want to create a pkkistan and they want then expand into Turkey. Both Russia and the USA would be happy to see Turkey enter a civil war and then balkanise. So the more you talk, the more time you waste the more you open that door.

And remember if the balkanisation project ever spills into south eastern Turkey the way it spilled into iraq and syria, their will be bloodshed nation wide, not just in the south east. Keep playing these stupid games of "talks" with open enemies and you face a very dark future.

The PKK project is very similar to Armenian project that was used against the Ottomans. While the english, french and russians were behind armenian terrorism and then sending them weapons and guns to kill Turkish citizens, today the Americans, Russians and certain European nations are behind the PKK.

The Turkish-Syrian agreement according to the Damascus sources (take it with a grain of salt),

1) Turkiye will withdraw from Syria.
2) Turkiye will respect Syrian sovereignty
3) Turkiye and Russia will open the M4 international highway from Latakia to Aleppo.
4) PKK/YPG is a tool of the US and Israel
5) PKK/YPG is the biggest threat to both Syria and Turkiye
6) Syrian-Turkish joint committees will be formed for implementation and observation.

If this is true we will have a new refugee wave unless we shoot into the crowds of fleeing Syrians.

If the retreat is on the condition of PKK being gone, that's a little more understandable. But still. REFUGEES!
