Escalating with the US would hurt rather than help here. The aim should be to destroy the logistic, military, and economic viability of CENTCOM's PKK project, which doesn't seem to be well-supported within the US by any other faction. The hope is they force Centcom to cut losses and end their failed experiment. If you escalate with the US, you hand an argument to Centcom to rally everybody else behind them.

Turkiye can replace its downed UAVs very quickly. But if Centcom's illegal economic activities in Syria are dried up, additional aid packages for continued support for the PKK will require the support of the entire US political establishment, including the House of Representatives. Exactly as you write, it is necessary to adopt a strategy that will deepen the political conflict between the US institutions rather than reconcile them. I think the two issues that the Pkk must be emptied of are oil revenues and drugs. This is also one of the issues that keeps the Pkk's hand strong in negotiations with the regime.

We got them in Libya at least when Turkish drones sent Wagner group to hell.

More to do with Turkish leaders and politicians letting the Armed forces down by tying their backs.

Nothing to do with the armed forces but the weakness of the government in particular Erdogan.

It was a dumb mistake to even allow wagner group to withdraw to Eastern Libya.
I know its the governments weakness you dont need to tell me that, tell it to those who try to cope it with attack on syrians as retaliation.

I think we should make Syria an expensive investment for the US. Today's operation is a good step towards that goal. If the US wants to protect the PKK we should make it expensive as hell.

These two are the best comment here, some people say stupid shit like Türkiye should start a war with a nuclear-armed nation that it is reliant on for its energy needs, or get into a pissing contest with the most powerful nation in the world.

The best way forward is to spontaneously launch massive yet precise operations to destabilise the PKK-held area. Constant attacks lead to people getting used to it, which is why carpet bombing does losses its effectiveness after a while but spontaneous strikes can lead to a drop in the morale of the enemy.

That said if Türkiye wants to go further than that then it needs to build up Türkiye's own strategic industries such as Semiconductor manufacturing and the manufacturing of the machines that make them. Türkiye also needs to build its own civilian nuclear energy sector as the lack of energy independence is the greatest weakness of Türkiye.

Yes but hitting civilian infrastructure like power distribution and oil isn't going to be the right way moving forward.

1.) That stuff is cheap and easy to replace, it won't cost the US even as much as the anka they shot down. The revenues won't even be worth that much. The EU would even be convinced to provide monetary aid. It's not a big cost to them compared to TR's economic situation.

2.) Civilians deciding to leave as a result of a loss of civilian infrastructure will go to TR.

3.) No infrastructure, no Syrian return in the future.

I think the current strategy is stupid so far and the strikes weak. It's just for show and gas. The assassination of PKK leaders was more effective.

Also, it is very unlikely that the order to shoot down the drone came from centcom, as US soldiers know TR wouldn't target them. it was likely a local US commander.

If it was from higher up, it shows much more aggressive posturing towards TR in the future.
