Yep. This is the US telling Erdogan to fuck off. Erdogan does not have escalation dominance with the US, the US can go higher than TR can.

Yes but hitting civilian infrastructure like power distribution and oil isn't going to be the right way moving forward.

1.) That stuff is cheap and easy to replace, it won't cost the US even as much as the anka they shot down. The revenues won't even be worth that much. The EU would even be convinced to provide monetary aid. It's not a big cost to them compared to TR's economic situation.

2.) Civilians deciding to leave as a result of a loss of civilian infrastructure will go to TR

1) it is not only about making it more costly to the US but also putting pressure on the SDF to break up, or at least stop, their nation-building projects sort of like how the SDF uses the HTS to destabilise the SNA.

2) The civilians leaving the area means that there would be fewer people for the YPG to tax, indoctrinate, and draw from for manpower.

3) Türkiye was never going to place the Syrians in the areas controlled by the YPG anyway so that isn't a problem.

I think the current strategy is stupid so far and the strikes weak. It's just for show and gas. The assassination of PKK leaders was more effective.
The assassination of the PKK should still be the first priority, but you must understand that the conflict has evolved now sadly the the PKK now have a state of their own in the form of the SDF army numbers 100,000 men.

The only way forward now is to start nation-building in the areas Türkiye controls and destabilise the areas they control while making sure that none of the violence spills over into Türkiye proper.

Escalating with the US would hurt rather than help here. The aim should be to destroy the logistic, military, and economic viability of CENTCOM's PKK project, which doesn't seem to be well-supported within the US by any other faction. The hope is they force Centcom to cut losses and end their failed experiment. If you escalate with the US, you hand an argument to Centcom to rally everybody else behind them.
Stop ypg proxy of west and arm the majority suffering with batch’s of air systems. Sunni never surrender to YPG hegimony and know the PKK was project of Assad dictator who the Syrian people rose up against. You need to help the fighters if you want exterminate biji biijis terrorist.

Yes, shows total failure of the government last two decades that the PKK is a state now, one I think Erdogan is delaying negotiations with until after elections.

The best way forward in the grand scheme of things is that a functioning nation is built in the Turkish-controlled areas. The best to do that is to create a second secular Syrian military force inside Türkiye as part of the Turkish arm forces sort of like the French Foreign Legion.

When the numbers reach a large enough size and professionalism has been established into the culture then it should replace the SNA. Those in the SNA will have two choices: disband and get to keep their investment inside Türkiye if they have any as well as a pension for a couple of years, or be destroyed.

This new organisation should then be used to help build a functioning nation-state in the area, thus laying the groundwork for a future democratic Syrian state.

This is how Türkiye will win this war: not through Islamism or bombs, but through the rule of law and strong institutions. The only hope Türkiye has of achieving success in Syria is to nation build, yes it will be a painful process, but it must be done.

And yet you already highlighted that it does put pressure on them in your earlier statement which is important as it slows down their state-building project.

Rather than negotiating Türkiye could always go with the nuclear option of building more dams up north and stopping the Euphrates River from flowing down. Those areas can never truly be independent of Türkiye as they rely on the mercy of Türkiye to even exist.

If any other nation were in Türkiye's shoes, they would have already used weaponised Water by now, after all, the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers are the lifeblood of Syria and Iraq without them both would be nothing but lifeless deserts incapable of sustaining a functioning state.

Doubt will happen. Not the smart choice i think. Whether this was centcom or a local commander using their authority, it doesn't really help US' case re their foothold in Syria.

What I want is an increased drone presence, with TSK drones joining in. Even add ground launched strikes to vetted targets, minimize civilian loss of life.

We win this by making this all untenable for US in the long term, not by becoming a pariah. A future ground op is the name of the game, keep the long game in mind.

Yes, a slow down. But if it is significant enough for them to say, "all our energy and water stations were damaged, entire population is in dire need" the west will immediately provide aid. This might even improve the situation to beyond the initial before the strikes.

Weaponizing water is a big issue in the west and the UN, this will lead to escalation. Also Iraq and Syria will watch how TR uses water.

Its been obvious for a long time that the agenda is to create a Kurdistan. Started in Iraq, moving it into Syria and eventually onto Turkiye. You don't need to study anything to see this is what they want.

So if we know their long term ambition is a greater Kurdistan, we must know that everything we do must be to counter that ambition.

We have to be constantly pro-active in striking their positions, to relentlessly target the PKK structures being created and formed. We must find ways to create pressure on the Americans and Russians to reduce their support on such terrorist entities. The Turkish army must find ways to enter more parts of the pkk occupied regions.

Russia it can be done with Ukraine, America is hard one to deal with. Meanwhile the EU will give as much support as possible to the PKK that they can get away with.
