Our politicians can easily decide to increase troops counts, but that is probably because they can't deliver on hardware that TSK really needs. So they make a show of increasing troops.

It's not a show per se. More complicated. But it is true that old units are being reclassed as commando units. Most of our active commando brigades are not actually "commandos"; they are light(er) infantry. No more motorized infantry in the ranks, they're all commando now. With 8x8 and tank deliveries starting, expect some of these commando units being reverted to mechanized units. Don't expect a large increase in manpower; it's more so a shuffling of the units; not increasing number.

But not to say that these lightly armed(less guns, armor) units have not worked good for us. For the kind of warfare we did in the last decade mostly in Syria, these highly mobile, easy to deploy units were more than enough for what we needed them for, and cheap too.

Druze rebelled in Caramana, 10 km away from the capital Damascus in Syria.


Damascus Internal Security Command launched a large patrol convoy on the road to Caramana district, where Druze live densely.

In addition, reinforcements were sent to all checkpoints at the entrances and exits of the district and inspections were increased more frequently.

Today, Druze supporters of Hekmat al-Hijiri protested against the Syrian government and reiterated their support for the separatist Hijiri.

I don't think anything will be done in Caramana. Caramana's end will eventually be like the end of Şeyh Maksut and Eşrefiye.

The current activity is to upset the stomachs of those who are sick, to make them lose sleep, and to give the message that the State is on the alert.

The druze project is destined to fail unless Israel commits militarily to connect druze lands with Israel through boots on the ground. Israel, on the other hand, will never commit to a military campaign unless Syria's supply lines from Turkey, Jordan, and Iraq are cut off which are extremely hard to do with the removal of US troops and Turkey controlling 95% of Syria's soil

Furthermore, with every passing day, Turkey gets stronger and the gap with Israel gets bridged and the same for Syria. Israel knows that and are trying to disrupt Syria through third-rate drug-dealing druze alliances and ISIS attacks

The base was located just 70km from turkish border; where are the AD systems? Where are the radars? Where are turkish fighter jets that ought to counter such attacks; if this was a turkish attack near the Golan heights, then you would have seen 3 squadrons of Israeli fighter jets ready to counterattack

This was a signal by Israel that they wont allow Syria to acquire "certain" offensive capabilities and they are ready to revert Syria to the stone age if needed. In other words, Israel wants Syria weak enough thag when Israel starts to expand, none can go against it
