Few days ago, I read the history of German IRIS-T missile. I commend you to read the history, too. Especially where the West thought they were ahead of A2A missile. The bitter truth was. They were not. In this case, we talk about R-73, which were ahead in all parameters on its western counterparts. What I want to say, is, if you underestimate Russians, you will face a bitter truth again.

I would agree and Accept you FACT or Logic if we were in 1960-70-80.
it was USSR.
Where Communists Applied pressure to ALL
There were many Talented people NOT russians, They Innovated, Created, Build-ed so many products. What happens is USSR was evil regime which take it all and show it as russian.
Remember Ukraine also was the member of the union. Ukraine people were ONE of MOST which innovated many many platforms for ussr.
in 1991 all I repeat all ussr talented people escape Communist state russia and went to WEST...

In present russia is controlled by mafia........
-working people most of them are corrupted
-on Management are only mafia like people, mean no future for any ECO system related to engineering.
- Main goal is to steal. Main goal is to trick people with money..............etc
-They simulate that they work
-They simulate that they innovate new

Bottom line........ russian products are out dated.........russian create pseudo products with core of old design
It is not about underestimate it is reality, it is a FACT

MK82 bomb weight is a 227kg. But the actual bomb contains 87-89kg of explosives in a metal container shell that weighs 140-150kg. It is the shrapnel effect of the metal shell that devastates ground forces.
Both Harpoon and Atmaca missiles weigh around 700kg and have an explosive payload of around 220kg. They also have a penetrating head to go through the outer shell of a ship. They are engineered and built specifically for sinking a ship. They travel at 0.9 Mach and hit their target with that kinetic force.
MK-82 glide bomb is much slower and it needs to be very precise in where it hits a ship to sink it. But it will definitely cause serious damage and may even decommission a ship. It could even sink smaller than corvette size vessels. (Even small Mam-L missiles managed to decommission some Russian coastal vessels.)

You don't need a large warhead to cause enormous damage to ships, look at Cakir mini cruise missiles.

I did not mean to underestimate hgk82's effect but rather it could not make it to the heavily defended ship due to both speed and altitude if you compare hgk82 to atmaca or çakir missile which engage targets with mach 0.8 to 0.9 speed, sea skimming and manueverability of anti missile systems.

You don't need to sink a ship to turn it useless
Definitely!
But can you imagine the satisfaction you would get when an AKYA torpedo explodes few metres below the hull of a large frigate and breaks it in half? And then when the ship sinks; Just think what it would do to the morale of you enemy! Never mind the impossibility of repair of a partly decommissioned ship.
It took just two almost Atmaca size Neptune anti ship missiles to sink Moskva. And the repercussions of that from the point of morale it gave to Ukrainians and the heartache to the Russians and sea warfare outcome in the Black Sea, was invaluable.
I can’t wait to see a Ramjet powered Turkish anti ship missile that will tear through a frigate from bow to stern at 2.5-3 Mach speed.

If the KGK-Siha-82 has a seeker head that does not advertise too much that it is coming, and since it is very small, plus comparatively slow, the enemy ships’ radars won’t register it. The KGK class smart bombs have stealthy structures anyway. So they are not easily picked up by enemy radars.
In fact a turbojet engine of an Atmaca or CAKIR would be a dead give away if compared to a KGK-82 from that point of view.

The tests carried out from Aksungur and Akinci used this KGK-82. Seeker head is different.

Yet the KGK-82 shown above post of @Bogeyman and below have a different seeker head. (A laser seeker head)
This may effect range. As can be seen the smart bomb has a stealth structure.
