Note that the range of the MAM-L is also improved from 8km to 15km.
It’s a gliding bomb so I don’t think glide ratio has changed much, must be designator/seeker related or envelope expanded with more trials. According to Roketsan website it already had 14 km range on GPS/INS mode before range changed to 15 km after trials made near sea.

Seeker improvement and a more efficient algorithm is applied that follows the laser illumination in a more aggressive way. This is the main contributor to the range increase of MAM-L.

Roketsan is really working hard on seekers and flight algorithms. There are not many changes on the rocket motors other than optimization of grain sizes and fuel oxidizer ratios.

BTW vanilla Cirit also scored a hit above 8km. UAE managed to hit a target 10+km away with Cirit.

Yeah, most logical. Gliding where L/D is maximum then switching to seeker mode would yield best range. If it starts early the path could be too shallow or too steep, reducing the range. Cirit, UMTAS and OMTAS angle of attack towards the end of flight did also seem suboptimal, bleeding energy. Maybe they fixed this too.

This MAM-L frame can reach to 30 km when released from at a higher altitude like 35-40k feet.

I am not sure but there is 25k feet limit for MAM L launch.

If I calculate properly, Umtas has a speed of 0,5-0,6 mach. However Kuzgun KY will have nearly 1.5 Mach.

Mr Murat IKINCI: "As Roketsan, we are working on the Coastal Defense System. In addition to the land ATMACA, we will soon implement our Coastal Defense System, which we developed over the ATMACA Anti-Ship Missile. Accordingly, we will launch the warhead launch of our ATMACA Missile with Imaging Infrared (IIR) Seeker, which we will use in our Coastal Defense System, this year.”

  • Roketsan NLOS and Kuzgun Short Range Anti-Ship
  • OMGSF-IIR Medium Range Anti-Ship
  • Atmaca-Rf Anti-Ship
  • Atmaca-IIR Coastal Defence
  • Kara-Atmaca Shore based Land attack
  • Gezgin Long range Land Attack
With the Atmaca IIR coastal defense missile system, every inch of the Aegean and East Mediterranean will be included in Turkey's engagement range. The strategic steps are taken

Bro, what do you mean by “Kuzgun Short Range Anti-Ship”?

In the range scale of the anti-ship family, the Kuzgun and NLOS missile family is in the short range anti-ship missile group compared to OMGSF(~100-120km) and Atmaca(~250km) bro.

If i remember correctly the shore based AShM was expected to be RF seeker variant in the beginning, then the dual-mode seeker (RF/IIR).

The good thing all 3 missiles are common with slight difference on the seeker, a common command center may operate all those 3 and launch whichever suits best to the target; IIR seeker for near to shore targets / targets residing in ports, RF seeker for targets resting at open seas, dual-mode seeker for high value targets.

This could indicate the Navy is also planning to adopt Kara Atmaca on the naval platforms (which doesn't support Gezgin) for LACM roles. Or simply they will use Atmaca IIR as light version of the Kara Atmaca.

It will be even more interesting when MR-AShM is introduced.

That could be even more interesting if they cooperate with Havelsan - Aselsan and make an Advent compatible / Advent based command center with a dedicated surface search radar + Elint antenna + Elint drone combination for the ISR, aiming the export market.

25k feet is close to 8 km . Could be thought of a practical range to be able to hit ground targets or could be a software design problem because of the old range limit.

For the altitude 25k feet to 40k feet looks so much but in reality it not much when compared with slant ranges where the FLIR can detect and track targets. Only 7.6km to 12.2 km and it's nothing compared with ~50-150 km range of the civilian grade optics.

KMC

Roketsan General Manager Murat İKİNCİ made a statement regarding the last stage reached in the KMC System. In the statement made by İKİNCİ,
“We delivered 3 of our Pedestal Mounted CİRİT (KMC) System to our Land Forces Command. The KMC System is a very successful system and will be a serious force multiplier for our Land Forces. We are also working on the export of the KMC System."
"Hundreds of these vehicles will be produced. We will be able to launch all of our UMTAS, L-UMTAS, CİRİT, OMTAS and SUNGUR Missiles from the same vehicle. We will gather all of the Air Defense, Anti-Tank and Anti-Personnel capabilities on one platform.”

- 3 KMC (FNSS Kaplan 10 with Yalman Tower) Delivered.
- 100s to be produced.
- SUNGUR Integration on Yalman Tower

Export

Murat İKİNCİ also announced that the UMTAS and OMTAS Anti-Tank Missiles with Imaging Infrared (IIR) Seeker Head, which are actively used by the Turkish Armed Forces, have been exported.
“We exported our UMTAS and OMTAS Anti-Tank Missiles to countries in Europe and Africa. There is a lot of demand for our missiles right now.” statements were included.

Any reason for that insanity?
It is not just TR more than a dozen country is showing interest. The platform is very versatile Cirit, OMTAS, UMTAS, L-UMTAS and Sungur can be launched from the same platform.

There is a question. Do we classify Umtas IIR for LOS Missile or NLOS missile? Or something mixed? Some people in social media say it is a kind of LOS but others choose NLOS.
